The contact owned a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH he experienced a syncope before the crash, and the vehicle struck a telephone pole head-on. The air bags in the vehicle deployed all except the rear driver side. The contact and the rear driver-side passenger were transported to the hospital by an ambulance. The contact had a broken left hand, 3 broken ribs, seatbelt injury, partial lumbar herniation, and left shin was bruised and had an open wound. The front passenger left the scene and did not receive medical treatment until the following day, they suffered a broken right wrist. The rear passenger sustained a broken spine, massive internal injuries that required emergency surgery, and a bruised kidney however she succumbed to her injuries 3 weeks later. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the Impound lot. The insurance company towed the vehicle and deemed it totaled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. The VIN was unavailable.
On June 17, 2022 I had front end collision. I was stopped at a traffic light and went to move up closer to the car in front of me. When I touched the accelerator my accelerated very quickly in and removed my foot from the pedal. The engine continued to rev even though my foot was on the break. I was not seriously injured. The car that I hit had 2 people in it and they looked ok at the scene. I think they are being evaluated for injuries. I am waiting to take it to Progressive Insurance Network collision center. But they don’t seem to be interested in anything but body work.
Driving 35 mph in my 2019 CRV EX, and all of a sudden, the brake started braking on its own. There was no warning, and the brake warning light came on several times with the brake braking on and off several times. There were not any objects, cars, or obstructions around. We (friend as passenger) came to a sudden stop when the braking first started up. It felt like major whiplash with jerking like motions. This lasted about 5 seconds and was just shocking. Our chests hurt afterwards, and it felt like the life was taken out of us. I was not using the cruise control/CMBS on at the time, but it was on to use if needed. I called Stirling Honda the next day about the problem and scheduled an appt. to bring the SUV in 6/22/2023. The lady did not seem to be too worried in my opinion. I actually have not been using the cruise control and CMBS at all, and actually have disabled it (turned off). This is a big safety concern, and thank God there was not a car in front of me or in back of me. I cannot imagine being at a higher speed and this happening.

The contact stated that while pulling into the street, the light was green, and she noticed a vehicle coming in fast into a turning light, and when he turned, she braced for impact. The contact stated she was in the left lane and got pushed all the way to the right lane during the crash. The air bags deployed, but upon impact to the head, the air bag exploded and instantly felt burning in her stomach, her hand, and all the way up to her shoulder. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to a local Bodyshop. A police report was filed. The driver was the only occupant. The injury sustained was a burn on the left arm and stomach, and pain in the neck and back. There was medical treatment for the injuries. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.
The driver seatbelt failed to lock when rear end collision occurred and drivers face slammed into steering wheel. The steering wheel airbag failed to deploy when the car rear ended the vehicle in front of them. Drivers safety was jeopardized and now has severe concussion. Repair center stated seatbelt showed zero signs of locking and air bag should’ve deployed. Vehicle was inspected by insurance and was deemed a complete loss. No warning lights sounds or messages went off when vehicle was rear ended and front end collision.

The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brake warning reoccurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and was advised by the dealer that there was no failure of the brake system. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she had the crash and was not able to return the vehicle to the dealer due to the crash. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Vehicle has had phantom braking and accelerations, occurrences of "Christmas tree dashboard" with all system alerts going off - have been intermittent, far between and unsure how to go about presenting to dealership or auto repair due to this - however THIS OCCURRED TODAY AND CAUSED A COLLISION/ ACCIDENT! My looking into the issue online has shown that this is a problem that many others have also had and that NHTSA has opened an investigation into it with honda! AGAIN - MY VEHICLE IS NOW DAMAGED AND I AM INJURED DUE TO THIS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION/ERROR! Today while in slow moving traffic to turn onto interstate, car started having the phantom breaking and jolting forwards out of my control. All of the system failure alerts started going off (I've been able to clear in the past by turning off and turning on car multiple times in a row and on the 5-7th restart they go away) - while slowing moving forward across railroad tracks - the railroad lights and barriers then also started to decend (unexpectedly, as they had just been down shortly before - less than 2 minutes) - I attempted to accelerate forward to clear my vehicle from the tracks and my vehicle jolted forward - despite my own braking, the vehicle's forward collision mitigation also failed and the brakes did not/would not apply hard enough (or as hard as I was applying) in order to prevent collision with vehicle in front of me. I attempted to veer to the left at the last second to avoid any collision - which limited damage to truck in front of me to very minimal, but my car's front right is moderately damaged. ADDITIONALLY - driver airbag deployed despite speed being under 35mph and collision not at a level that warranted airbag deployment - thus ALSO INJURING ME AND CAUSING ADDITIONAL CAR DAMAGE. NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY DUE TO PERSON INJURIES AND VEHICLE IMPAIRMENT!
I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV FROM HAGERSTOWN HONDA ON 3/16/2019. I LOVE MY CRV. HOWEVER, I'VE BEEN HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. THE HONDA COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM IS CAUSING MY CAR TO JUST STOP WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR OR MORE, DOWN TO ZERO WITHOUT WARNING. THE CMBS THINKS THERE IS SOMETHING I'M GOING TO HIT, HOWEVER THERE ARE NO CARS OR OBJECTS IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 5 TIMES NOW. I HAVE HAD MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF HAGERSTOWN HONDA CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE MEET WITH BOB BARNES (SERVICE MANAGER) AND TALKED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE TELEPHONE ABOUT THE ISSUE, THE TECHNICIAN (NICK SHIFLER) READJUSTED THE RADAR, AND A HONDA SENSING INTERVIEW SHEET THAT WAS SENT INTO HONDA USA. IT HAPPENED AGAIN JUST LAST WEEK, WHERE I CAUSED A THREE-CAR ACCIDENT ON EAST BOUND ROUTE 66. I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT AS FAR AS I KNOW RIGHT NOW, HOWEVER THE OTHER DRIVERS HAD SIGNIFICANT CAR DAMAGE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. THE VA STATE TROOPER AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE, AND I AGREE. I CONTACTED BOB BARNES SERVICE MANAGER FROM HAGERSTOWN HONDA AGAIN LAST WEEK, AND HE SAID HE CAN'T HELP ME BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND TO CONTACT HONDA USA. MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE CMBS SYSTEM IS GOING TO ENGAGE, WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS ALL HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY DRIVING.
-LANE ASSIST DID NOT WORK -BRAKES DID NOT WORK WHEN APPLIED, ON A HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET -WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS CLOSE TO OTHER VEHICLE NO WARNINGS OR SUCH -IT CRASHED WITH FRONT HITTING A TREE AND ENGINE FELL OUT OF THE CAR
ON FEBRUARY 29, 2020, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A NEARBY PARK AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE, THE CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. I CONTINUED TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR, BUT IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I STEERED THE CAR AWAY FROM A SMALL LAKE BUT SMASHED INTO A PINE TREE. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE SEATBELT WORKED. I RECEIVED TRAUMA TO THE CHEST BY THE AIRBAG. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR EVALUATION AND THEN RELEASED THE NEXT DAY. THE STATE TROOPER CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING WHEN HE RESTARTED IT. THIS HONDA CRV RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY, 2019 CONCERNING A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS AND STEERING COLUMN. THE PARTS DID NOT COME UNTIL SEPTEMBER, 2019 AND I THEN BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE REPAIR. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED. FIVE MONTHS LATER THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WITH ONLY 6,800 MILES ON THE CAR. I WENT TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND HIS ATTITUDE WAS POLITE BUT TOTALLY INDIFFERENT. HE INDICATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY SELLS CARS, BUT HE DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY THAT THE DEALERSHIP ALSO DID THE REPAIR ON THIS RECALL. I LEFT THERE WITH NO SATISFACTION AT ALL. THE HONDA CRV 2019 IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. THIS WAS MY FIRST HONDA AND MY LAST.

THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED VIA AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE REMAINED FOR TWO DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT WANT TO EVALUATE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER REQUESTED THAT THE CONTACT CALL HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED RECEIVING A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V383000 (AIR BAGS, COMMUNICATIONS, STEERING) AFTER THE CRASH. Due to an incorrect marking, the connecting system may have been fitted to the wrong vehicle. In the event of a rear-end collision, the connecting system can come into contact with the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU). This creates a risk of short-circuit in the high-voltage grid, potentially leading the vehicle to catch fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
A reduction in the amount of grease in the steering gearbox during use results in dangerously fluctuating torque during steering. This can create a loss of vehicle's control and increases the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Due to a problem during the production process, the vibration of the engine can cause cracks inside the high-pressure fuel pump. This may lead to a fuel leak, increasing the risk of fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Due to a faulty circuit board in the passenger seat weight sensor, the passenger seat’s occupant detection system may identify a Steering Wheel Sensor (SWS) error and the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) warning light could switch on. This can cause a faulty triggering of the airbags, creating a risk of injuries for a child occupying the passenger seat. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Due to improper manufacturing of the belt buckle channel, the front seat belt buckles (driver or passenger side) may not lock properly. This could affect the restraining capacity of the safety-belt and increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The battery cable connecting the battery to the fuse box is not fitted with a fuse. In the event of a collision, the battery cable could be damaged if it is trapped against the vehicle's body. This can lead to a short circuit and possible overheating of the battery cable, which creates a risk of fire and injury. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
