The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH there would be a loud noise emitting from the rear-end of the vehicle that seemed as if the vehicle was running rough. The contact stated that while being idle at a red light the vehicle suddenly surged forward crashing into the vehicle in front. The air bags in the front and rear of the vehicle deployed on both the driver and passenger side. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. A police report was made. The contact received an injury to their stomach, knee, and hip bone. A passenger in the vehicle received neck and back injuries. Medical attention was needed. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,900.

Additionally, there was smoke coming from the steering wheel and the steering wheel was significantly hot. The contact stated that both her and her disabled daughter were unable to exit the vehicle because the air bags were obstructing. A bystander assisted the contact and her daughter out of the vehicle. The contact sustained soreness on the neck and the buttocks, and a swollen left knee and left ankle. The contact's daughter sustained a laceration on the neck and neck pain. Both the contact and her daughter received medical assistance. The contact was unsure whether the other driver sustained any injuries. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I woke up to my car on fire and Toyota is saying they don’t know what happened but they’re also saying it wasn’t their fault I’ve never seen a brand new car just randomly set on fire and then nobody really look for any answers I just put brand new tires on the car the day before it burnt up I’m currently behind on my car payments because of the financial strain this whole situation put me in because on top of a divorce I wasn’t prepared to go and buy another car I’ve just stopped living in my current car and got an apartment because of the financial strain that this is caused and I wasn’t given any kind of reimbursement or assistance even with the tires that I just bought I feel like Toyota knows something that they’re not telling me and I deserve to be compensated

On July 10, 2026, my vehicle was parked, turned off, and unattended. The front windows were partially rolled down because the outside temperature was approximately 80°F. I had been away from the vehicle for about one hour. Approximately 20 minutes before discovering the incident, I heard fire trucks nearby but did not initially realize they were responding to my vehicle. When I returned, I discovered that the vehicle had caught fire and that the fire department had already extinguished it. I do not know what component or system failed or where the fire originated. Before parking the vehicle, I did not observe any warning lights, dashboard messages, smoke, unusual odors, overheating, electrical issues, mechanical problems, or other symptoms that would have indicated a possible fire or malfunction. Because the vehicle caught fire while parked and turned off, the incident created a serious safety risk to nearby people, surrounding vehicles, homes, and other property. Fortunately, I am not aware of anyone being inside or immediately next to the vehicle when the fire began. A fire marshal is currently investigating the incident and the cause remains unknown. The issue has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealership, manufacturer, or independent repair facility. That I am aware of. The firemarshalle said it appears to be manufactured defects. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer to my knowledge. The damaged vehicle and affected components should be available for inspection upon request, subject to the requirements of the fire investigation.

The smart stop system, the vehicle stability control system, the electrical power steering system, the blind spot monitoring system, the secondary collision brake system, and the lane keeping assistance all malfunctioned while traveling home one night. My made a really loud continuous beeping sound as I was driving the vehicle sensed it was departing its lane and the lane keeping assistance over steered left. This caused my vehicle to scrape the curb, causing cosmetic damage, mess up the wheel alignment , and crack front drivers side rim, because I physically tried to turn away to prevent any impact with the curb. I also had this vehicle stop in the middle of the road MULTIPLE TIMES DETECTING an object or obstruction was in the road when nothing was there! This almost caused rear end collisions multiple times when it happened. I actually turned this feature down to the lowest possible setting to prevent it from happening. If you are asking is it available for inspection by me it is not. This vehicle had an extremely high monthly car note. Once I took it to the dealership for inspection, they were not willing to honor my new car warranty. Even though I brought this car with 10 miles on the odometer. The dealership was negligent, & as was Toyota corporation. when I called to have it inspected and got their upper management involved. They sent out a 3rd party inspector to look at my car at Jerry’s Toyota inc, located in Baltimore Maryland where it was purchased. Upon inspection nothing was said or noted at all about any of the malfunctioned systems to my vehicle, they used it having exterior damage from impacting the curb to say, the problem was my fault & to get insurance to fix it because it’s not their problem. Yes my safety and other safety were put at risk because of this vehicle. Yes it was inspected by a 3rd party inspector Toyota hired to look at the vehicle. It has since been repossessed because I could not drive it safely. No their were no warning lamps prior
On April [XXX] at about [XXX] a.m., upon returning from exercising at the Peter Blum YMCA in Boca Raton, I was very slowly parking my car in the garage. The car was half way in when it suddenly accelerated forwards, impacting two bicycles standing on their racks at the end of the garage, the washing machine, the dryer, the water heater and through them, the garage back wall, where cracks were created. I applied the brakes as hard as I could but the car just kept going. It finally stopped, after hitting the bicycles and the appliances. Astonished by what was happening, I put the car in park and then very carefully, I went backwards to review the damage. All of a sudden, the car accelerated backwards until it hit some bushes across the street from my house. It is a street with foot traffic by neighbors holding their small kids and dogs. Cars are usually parked on the side walk. Miraculously, nobody was injured and no car was parked. I authorized inspection by Toyota. My insurance company GEICO only inspected body damages to the car. ABS/Brake system malfunctioned causing accident on Freeway. Was traveling in number 1 lane on Freeway in an area where it usually slows down, I had 3-4 car lengths gap between me and the person in front of me. Traffic started slowing down to about 25-35 mph I maintained a 2-3 car length gap, Traffic let off there brakes and I coasted traveling at roughly 25-35 mph for a couple seconds, then the I noticed the vehicles in front of me slamming on there brakes so I did too except my braking system failed, I'm suspecting the abs system malfunctioned. 25mph with a 3 car gap in a brand new car with less than 5,000 miles with brand new tires should have had no problem stopping in time. My old volvo could have stopped in time on an ice rink. Camry brakes are pretty grabby during normal driving which makes it hard to brake smoothly so it has to be some type of computer glitch which caused the problem.

My 2023 Toyota Camry has developed an intermittent defect where the ignition key becomes stuck and cannot be removed even though the dashboard shows the vehicle is in Park. The only way to remove the key is to disconnect the vehicle's battery, which is not a normal or safe operating procedure. The problem occurs intermittently and has happened multiple times. I believe there may be a defect involving the ignition key release system, shift interlock, park position switch, or a related electrical component. This condition could leave drivers stranded or unable to secure their vehicle and creates a potential safety concern. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated and to determine whether other 2023 Toyota Camry owners are experiencing the same problem.

Component/System: Smart Key System / Automatic Door Locking System I own a 2023 Toyota Camry LE equipped with a Smart Key System. I parked the vehicle, turned off the engine, and left the smart key inside the vehicle. My [XXX] child remained securely strapped into a rear child safety seat and was sleeping inside. I briefly stepped outside to wipe dust from the windshield while standing next to the vehicle. After the driver’s door closed, the vehicle automatically locked itself with the smart key still inside. I did not intentionally lock the vehicle. I was unable to unlock the doors because the smart key was locked inside the vehicle. My [XXX] child was trapped inside the locked vehicle, creating an emergency situation. To rescue my child, I had no choice but to break the driver’s side window. There were no warning lights or warning messages before the incident. The cause is unknown. The vehicle has not yet been inspected to determine why it automatically locked with the smart key inside. Based on the circumstances, the Smart Key System either failed to detect the smart key or the vehicle improperly allowed the doors to lock despite the key remaining inside. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
Abhilfe: Dealers will replace the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB04 and 24TA04.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The lug nuts that attach the wheels to the vehicle may be loose, which can result in wheel detachment.
Abhilfe: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and tighten the lug nuts, and replace any damaged components, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on or before August 14, 2023. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 23TA05.
