The wrong software for the power steering control module (PSCM) may have been installed. The steering wheel can perform autonomous movements when the driver attempts to steer, as the electric power steering (EPAS) provides unintended steering assistance. Unintended steering assistance may lead to loss of control over the vehicle while driving and thus to an increased risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The incorrect calibration of the power steering control module (PSCM) could lead the steering wheel to oscillate without warning (alternating clockwise/counterclockwise) during steering due to the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) providing unintended steering assist. This unintended steering assist could lead to loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Corrosion of the front seatbelt pretensioner cable may cause it to weaken or break, reducing seatbelt effectiveness and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
An unsecured nut may cause the clutch pedal to fail, preventing the driver from changing gear and causing the engine to stall. If the clutch line is lowered, it may melt on hot components and brake fluid may leak and ignite. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
As a result of a polarity error in the secondary digital torque sensor in the steering gear, if the primary steering torque sensor fail, the steering wheel may oscillate when the driver is steering. This can lead to a loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH, WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE ENTIRE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD, CAUSING A SECOND VEHICLE TO CRASH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG DELAYED IN DEPLOYING. THE DRIVER HAD ALREADY EXITED THE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE DRIVERS HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER OF THE SECOND VEHICLE REQUESTED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (FAIRWAY FORD LOCATED AT 2323 LAURENS RD, GREENVILLE, SC 29607, (864) 242-5060) AND WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V319000 (AIR BAGS) WAS COMPLETED 2 YEARS AGO AT THE SAME LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000. *BF*JB
ADVANCED TRACK LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AS WELL AS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS THOUGH CAR WAS FINE THEN NEW YEARS EVE A DRIVER CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND SECONDS BEFORE IMPACT MY BRAKES LOCKED UP, AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I THEN IMPACTED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH COULD OF KILLED ME AND MY PASSENGER AS WE WERE BOTH SEVERELY HURT FROM SLAMMING AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIM THE DASHBOARD. THIS HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET IRVING BOLIVARD AT A SPEED OF 40MPH. CURRENTLY THE CRASH IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY MY NAME IS [XXX] AND MY NUMBER IS [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TAKATA RECALL OR ANY DEFECTIVE AIRBAG ISSUES. I RENTED A CAR FROM A SMALL INDEPENDENT CAR RENTAL AGENCY NEAR A MAJOR AIRPORT IN THE USA. I WAS IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY AND HAD TO BRAKE HARD FOR TRAFFIC WHICH HAD STOPPED. I COLLIDED WITH NOTHING. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, EXPLODED AND SHATTERED AS IT DEPLOYED, BURST INTO FLAMES AND A PIECE OF THE AIRBAG LANDED ON MY ARM BURNING ME AND LEAVING A SCAR. THE DETONATOR O THE STEERING REMAINED IN FLAMES FOR SEVERAL MINUTES SMELLING OF GUNPOWDER. RESEARCHING THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY ONLINE LATER, THERE APPEARS TO BE A PATTERN - CARS RENTED FROM THIS COMPANY AT VERY LOW RATES WHICH ARE CLAIMED TO BE DAMAGED WHEN RETURNED AND THEN BILLING THE CAR RENTER'S INSURANCE COMPANY AND USING A REPAIR SHOP THAT SEEMS TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE OWNER OF THE CAR RENTAL COMPANY.ALSO, THE CLAIMS COMPANY THE CAR RENTAL USES SEEMS VERY INVOLVED IN THIS POTENTIAL SIDE INDUSTRY AS WELL. BECAUSE THEIR RENTAL RATES ARE SO LOW, THIS HAS MADE ME SUSPICIOUS. THE CARS THEY RENT OUT ARE NOT NEW. I HAVE THE VPN NUMBER THAT WAS SUPPLIED TO THE BODY SHOP FOR THE REPAIR BUT HAVE CONCERNS THE VPN MAY NOT BE CORRECT EITHER. WHAT I DO HAVE IS A PIECE OF FABRIC FROM THE AIRBAG. I WAS HOPING TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE AIRBAG THAT BURNED ME AND BE SURE THAT IT IS NOT EITHER A TAKATA AIRBAG OR SOME GENERIC BRAND X AIRBAG THAT WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN IN THIS MODEL CAR. I WILL ATTACH A PHOTO OF THE FABRIC. IF THERE IS SOMEONE I COULD SEND A SAMPLE OF THE FABRIC TO, I WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATIVE OF HAVING THE NAME OF A LEGITIMATE AIR BAG EXPERT. THANK YOU. *TR
The contact’s brother owns a 2014 Ford Mustang. While the owner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle drifted over to the left, crossed into the other lanes, drove into a ditch, and crashed into an object at the end of the ditch, causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle landed in a nearby field and came to a complete stop. The contact stated that after several impacts, the air bags deployed. The contact stated that due to the impact, the driver was unable to state what had caused the vehicle to drift over to the left before crashing into the ditch. The driver received injuries to the lower body, L1 vertebrae, chest, and a fractured back. Medical attention was needed, and the driver remained in the Intensive Care Unit. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and remained at the tow yard with extensive damage. The contact was informed that collision coverage was required to repair the vehicle. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My son was driving to school. He was not speeding or any type of reckless driving. He hit an ice patch. His car spun and flew thru the air. The airbag compartment opened but it was defective. All metal shards came flying out of it causing multiple lacerations. He also lost consciousness from the impact and I was told by hospital ER doctor the airbag was defective and he was suffering from a very serious concussion.
The contact owned a 2014 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, the contact fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to crash into the rear end of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy, causing the contact to hit his head against the steering wheel. The contact became dizzy and lightheaded. The contact was able to exit the vehicle; however, the front driver's side door could only slightly open due to the significant damage to the vehicle's front end. The contact received medical assistance the following day. The contact underwent a CT scan and was informed that he had sustained a concussion. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,502.
TAKARA RECALL MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN FRONT AND SIDE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED SPONTANEOUSLY AND EXPLODED CAUSING HER BURNS AND LACERATIONS. ALSO CAUSED BRUISING AND PAIN ON HER SHOULDER,PAIN IN NECK LOWERBACK AND RIBCAGE AREA. THIS CAUSED HER TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED AFTER AND NEEDED TO BE JUMP STARTED BY TOW COMPANY. THEY ALSO COULDN'T GET THE TRUNK TO OPEN. I HAVE A CLAIM WITH FORD AND THEY DID ASK ME AT MY COST TO DELIVER CAR TO DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD RETRIEVE THE RCM BUT MY INSURANCE WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE REMOVED. I DID CONTACT MY PRODUCT CLAIM REP AND NOW I AM BEING COMPLETELY IGNORED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THANK YOU.
TAKATA RECALL - IN MAY 2015, MY CLIENT RECEIVED A NHTSA RECALL 15V319 FOR THE AIRBAG AND BROUGHT HER VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO COMPLY WITH THE RECALL NOTICE. AT THAT TIME, SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAG WASN'T AVAILABLE AND THEY DID NOT HAVE A TIME AS TO WHEN IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. ON AUGUST 22, 2016, MY CLIENT WAS DRIVING HER 2014 FORD MUSTANG WHEN SHE REAR-ENDED A VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND CAUSED PAINFUL LACERATIONS, ABRASIONS AND BURNS RELATED TO THE INFLATOR'S EXPLODING METAL FRAGMENTS. MY CLIENT TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND HER VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP DID NOT OFFER HER ALTERNATE VEHICLE TRANSPORTATION. SHE HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE AND CONTINUE PAYING ON THE MUSTANG ENDURING 2 CAR PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE. HER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN MARCH, 2017.

I CONTACTED THE CLASS ACTION PEOPLE AND THEY SAID MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND IT CLEARLY IS.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM REACTIVATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AND THE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. WHEN THE CONTACT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT HIGH SPEEDS ON ITS OWN. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TURNED AGGRESSIVELY TO THE RIGHT, BECAME AIRBORNE, FLIPPED OVER, AND LANDED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE WHEEL REMAINED LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED.
