I WAS STOPPED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN A TRUCK REAR-ENDED ME TWICE AND I ENDED UP REAR-ENDING THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME. NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
My 2017 for fusion stopped changing gears and when trying to change gears it sounded awful and was very rough. Sheehy Ford said it was the torque converter and found numerous office issues with in the transmission. Repairs were $5k. Thank goodness for Ford customer support( my awesome rep Kiara) who provided financial help for the repairs. I have lots of articles about the same issue and am shocked that the SE model wasn’t included in the recall.
ON MAY 13, 2017 OR THERE ABOUT MY 2017 FORD FUSION FROM A STOPPED DURING TAKE OFF ACCELERATED VERY FAST ALMOST CAUSING ME TO RUN INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 I TOOK MY CAR IN SPECIFICALLY TO HAVE THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM CHECKED OUT AND AGAIN NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN SOON AS IT HAPPENED. ON OCTOBER 10, 2017 TAKING OFF FROM A STATIONARY POSITION I TOOK OFF AFTER LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CAR JUST TOOK OFF ACCELERATING IN A CURVE CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL AND I RAN INTO A TREE.
THIS CAR DIDN'T STOP WITH IN 40FT WHEN THE SPEED IS 25 MPH AND HAPPENED TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER CAR WHICH CHANGED LANES ABRUPTLY.
NHTSA COMPLAINT - 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium (VIN: REDACTED) - [XXX] (Collision) Q1: FAILED COMPONENT Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) and hybrid battery cell balancing circuits failed post-collision. Per Ford Recall 23V-440, Current Interrupt Device causes excess voltage, fire risk, toxic gas exposure. DTCs: U1027 (ABS/ECM loss), P2450/P2451 (EVAP stuck open/closed), P0DD2/P0DD6/P0DDE (battery cell balancing circuits H/J/K/M stuck off). Vehicle available for inspection. Q2: SAFETY RISKS Sudden power loss, fire risk, CO/HF toxic gas exposure from damaged cells. HF IDLH 0.025 g/m³. Symptoms: headaches, cognitive issues, respiratory problems requiring Brain MRI. No Ford dealer conducted required post-collision battery diagnostics despite DTCs proving multiple system failures. United Insurance Claims ignored [legal demand] for hybrid-specific inspections. No CO/HF assessment. Battery cell balancing failures indicate physical collision damage to high-voltage system. Q4: INSPECTIONS Insurance: Standard only, ignored DTCs requiring hybrid testing. Ford Service (Tempe, AZ) and Ford Collision Center (Mesa, AZ): No inspection; reasons given a) lack capability b) we just scan the vehicle; we don't thoroughly inspect for gas leaks". Multiple permanent DTCs prove need for Ford-certified diagnostics. Q5: WARNING SYMPTOMS Pre-collision: Intermittent issues, check engine light, reduced range. Post-collision: Reduced range, Gas exposure symptoms plus DTCs U1027, P2450/P2451, P0DD2/P0DD6/P0DDE showing communication/battery cell failures. Medical documentation available. I had a bad car accident October 2019 going 45 mph, I push the breaks the car didn’t stop and I crashed not after a month from getting the car from drivetime on a special discount
I was driving under the posted speed limit on a road near my house going to pick my kids up from school. I was approaching a stop sign at an intersection and began to press on the brake pedal. The pedal traveled all the way to the floor as I was coming yo the stop sign. A driver was approaching me from the left headed east and my car went into the street past the stop sign and the other driver hit me which in turn caused his vehicle to roll over and mine was damaged as well which turned out to be totaled. The brakes began to work again right as the gentleman hit me. I never knew about the recall and when that happened I got onto the web and out in my VIN and saw it was recalled. I need to know what’s going to be dealt with here!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME REALLY LOOSE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND STRUCK A TREE. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED EXCEPT THE ONE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LOOSE EVERYDAY EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. VEHICLE (FORD FUSION) HAD JUST STARTED TO PROCEED FORWARD FROM MEDIAN TURN AREA ONTO CITY STREET TO TURN LEFT WHEN 2ND VEHICLE (TOYOTA CAMRY) SWOOPED AROUND ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND HIT AFFECTED VEHICLE (FORD FUSION) ON FRONT DRIVERS SIDE (BUMPER AND ENTIRE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL). SPUN BOTH VEHICLES AROUND AND AFFECTED VEHICLE (FORD FUSION) WAS PROPELLED INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE (TOYOTA CAMRY). IMPACT CAUSED FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE TO DETACH, NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHICH RESULTED IN THE HEAD OF THE DRIVER OF AFFECTED VEHICLE (FORD FUSION) TO HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO SPIDER SHATTER THE WINDOW LEAVING AN IMPRINT OF DRIVERS HEAD IN THE WINDOW. DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL AND INJURIES WERE MINOR THUS FAR. STILL SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION. IMPACT WAS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH THAT 2ND VEHICLE (TOYOTA CAMRY) DID DEPLOY ALL AIRBAGS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY UTILIZING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS SET TO 55 OR 65. I WENT TO CHANGE FROM THE RIGHT LANE TO THE LEFT LANE AND MY VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING QUICKLY. I WAS COMING ON TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAY TOO QUICKLY TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME I HAD TO SWERVE AND HIT THE CEMENT MEDIAN. IT ALL HAPPENED SO QUICKLY I'M NOT SURE IF I WAS EVEN ABLE TO TRY AND HIT THE BRAKES AT ALL. I SEARCHED THE FORD WEBSITE AND HAVEN'T FOUND ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLES YEAR. I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT THIS RIGHT AWAY SO OTHER DRIVERS ARE AWARE. THIS IS SECONDARY TO HAVING TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RESET....AND THE STEERING WHEEL BOLT REPLACED! I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS CAR BACK. SO SCARED TO GET BACK IN IT.
