I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD ALL THE SUDDEN I HEARD A KNOCK IN THE VEHICLE AND BURNING SMELL WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR HAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A SAFE PLACE. I HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE COOLANT WAS GOING TO THE ENGINE WHICH WILL COST NEARLY $10,000.00. I STILL OWE OVER $18,000.00 AND ONLY HAVE THE CAR FOR A 1 YEAR. I CAN'T GET ANY HELP FROM THE FORD COMPANY OR THE DEALER. I AM A SINGLE PARENT THAT'S IN A TRUE DILEMMA NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO. THE DEALER HAS DONE THE SERVICE IN THE CAR 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. I KEPT THE SERVICE EVERYTHING IT'S DUE. I WAS DOING ALL THE RIGHT THING.
VEHICLE REGISTERS DOOR ADJAR CONSTANTLY. CAUSES DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON EVEN WHILE DRIVING, CAN'T LOCK DOOR, AND BATTERY GOES DEAD. THIS IS AN ISSUE! I SAW THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BUT APPARENTLY NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM STARTED GRADUALLY AND PROGRESSED TO ALWAYS. ONE TIME AFTER THE BATTERY DIED I HAD A FRIEND JUMP IT AND THE CABLES STARTED ON FIRE! UNSURE IF THIS IS RELATED BUT THE 12VOLT PLUG IN THE DASH STOPPED WORKING AND THE HEATER AC HVAC ALSO WENT OUT PREVIOUS TO THIS. WHAT A PAIN...
2011 LINCOLN MKX ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SOFTWARE RECALL LINCOLN ISSUED A RECALL (10V659000) NHTSA CAMPAIGN #11V128000 WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF AFFECTED BCMS MAY HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT. IF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT DEVELOPS, AN OVERHEATING CONDITION MAY OCCUR WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE. OUR LINCOLN STARTED TO DEVELOP ISSUES ONLY A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE. THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD REPEATEDLY BURN OUT. THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED FROM REPLACED THE BULB & HOUSING SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO PERMANENT FIX. AFTER SOME RESEARCH WE FOUND THE RECALL NOTICE & CALLED LINCOLN DIRECTLY. AS IT TURNS OUR THE CAR (VIN NUMBER & ALL FIT THE CRITERIA FOR THE RECALL PER FORD) HOWEVER LINCOLN REFUSES TO FIX THE AFFECTED MODULE BECAUSE THE CAR IS ORIGINALLY FROM CANADA! WE LIVE 1 HOUR AWAY FORM CANADA, SO IAM SURE WE ARE NOT THE FIRST TO BUY A CAR IN THE US THAT ORIGINATED IN CANADA. AT THIS POINT WE DO NOT EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR IT WILL CATCH FIRE. THE SIGNAL & RUNNING LIGHTS BURN OUT EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. VERY SCARY! WE CANNOT IN GOOD FAITH TRADE THE CAR IN EITHER WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THIS INFORMATION. THE MECHANICS THAT HAVE LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE STATED THAT THERE IS EVIDENCE OF AN ACTUAL FIRE AROUND THE TURN SIGNAL HOUSING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKX. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE LOW COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

UNINTENDED ACCELERATOR FIRST HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS AGO. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER TO HAVE A BRAKE RECALL DONE AND TOLD THEM THAT I WENT TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND SOMETHING MADE THE ACCELERATOR STICK FORCING ME TO JUMP A CURB AND RUN AT A HIGH SPEED THROUGH AN EMPTY LOT IN FRONT OF OUR LIBRARY AND THEN BACK OVER ANOTHER CURB AND OUT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND KEPT PUSHING; IT FINALLY STOPPED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. ON JULY 18, 2016 I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO BRAKE AGAIN MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED BY ITSELF FORCING THE CAR TO JUMP THE CURB AND PLOW INTO A 4-FOOT HEDGE. THE CAR STOPPED ON TOP OF THE HEDGES. I AM ATTACHING A PICTURE. HAD THE CAR NOT BEEN STOPPED BY THE HEDGE ' THERE WAS AN EIGHT LANE ROAD IN FRONT OF MY CAR AND I DARE NOT THINK ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE CAR GONE STRAIGHT INTO TRAFFIC. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT COMPONENT OR SYSTEM CREATED THIS UNSAFE RISK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LINCOLN MKX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY SURGED FORWARD BEFORE STOPPING ON ITS OWN. APPROXIMATELY TEN DAYS LATER, THE DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A BUS SHELTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
It’s been a 4 year battle. I received a bait and switch clone vehicle A Frankenstein!! The vehicle and vin are clones. The vehicle was delivered in the dark after hours during a time I was sick. Im also disabled. I had looked at the vehicle on the [XXX] website Hyundai Genesis lot then went and looked in person and test drove it. I was told it was a one owner vehicle out of Michigan. I purchased it two days later and traded in my perfect immaculate truck. I did not drive the vehicle until 4 days later and I noticed immediately the interior didn’t match. Warning lights were coming on. And when I got to my destination it all unfolded. I found receipts in the vehicle from the Lafayette In area that had a name on them. I tried to contact that person but was unsuccessful. I contacted the dealership over and over and over. I finally got ahold of a different salesman who sent me the original photos in their ad and they do not match the vehicle in my possession. Every seatbelt has a different year and date. There are other parts underneath that don’t make sense either. There are 3 warning lights on including traction and brakes. Immediately the brakes went bad. Paid $1200 to fix them and still not fixed. I don’t drive it unless I absolutely have to. It about made me crash into other vehicles that could have been fatalities if it wasn’t for my fast thinking. The vehicle has been pieced together and I guarantee you they did the same thing to the person who bought my trade in. That person is also in danger and I have pictures of that truck also underneath and motor etc for comparison and you need to investigate it as well as the vehicle in my possession that I try not to drive. This is an organized auto theft group spread out through multiple dealerships cloning vehicles and vins by swapping out the whole vehicle with flood salvage vehicles giving the salvage vehicle your vin identity affixing the stickers and vin plate to the salvage make it look like your car. PTU failing and leaking fluid. Needs replacement. Ford stated it’s a lifetime fluid but the fluid fails due to sitting next to hot exhaust. The unit needs replacement at a cost of $3400. Unit is currently being replaced. This can cause the PTU to fail, lock up, and implode taking the transmission with it. Extremely expensive part to replace. Thousands of people online have needed to replace part with 30k miles or less.
The contact owns a 2011 Lincoln MKX. The contact's mother stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights unexpectedly illuminated. The contact's mother also experienced additional electrical issues with the alarm sounding unexpectedly, the power door locks failing to function properly, and the liftgate closing unexpectedly. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Brake pedal went to the floor couldnt stop nearly crashed
My backup rearview camera blacked out one day. Then it came back upside down. Then one day it went back to a right-side up view. But then it is upside down again. It is EXTREMELY difficult to see anything now when I back up with the view being upside down. There is a recall 25S42 from April 2025 for something similar, but it includes a 2015 Lincoln MKC but NOT the 2011 Lincoln MKX. They need to add the 2011 Lincoln MKX to the recall. I'm a Lincoln fan and i really don't like to see them including some cars and some don't. it has been the same issue for all of them and that will increase the possibility of accident
