A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a police lot. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer and diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 205,000.

THE CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, BUT THE FLAMES WERE SO INTENSE, THAT HER JACKET CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE DOOR AS FLAMES WERE EVERYWHERE. THE CONSUMER EVENTUALLY EXITED THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WITHIN SECONDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING POPPING SOUNDS AND THEN IT BLEW UP. My 2007 Lincoln MKX had an SUA and within 10 feet totaled the front end when it was thrust into a cement building. This happened On [XXX] and the vehicle is available for inspection here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In 2010 Lincoln implemented an override device to the brake system knowing of the problem and there was no recall for vehicles prior to 2010. My safety was put at risk and that of others. If someone had been exiting the store or walking down the sidewalk they could have been killed. I am suffering with physical and mental problems as a result of this. Police report also states this was definitely a vehicle malfunction. There were no warning signs prior to the incident. My 2007 Lincoln MKX was in Drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local PD, EMS and Fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from Drive into Reverse and pull out of the parking space.

LIFT GATE MALFUNCTION. WHILE UNLOADING MY GROCERIES THE LIFT GATE SLAMMED DOWN ON MY HEAD. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEEP. SUSTAINED A CUT TO MY FACE. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THE LIFT GATE MALFUNCTION AFTER THE INCIDENT.
I WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT SUDDENLY ANXIOUS ABOUT THE GAS PEDAL BECAUSE HOWEVER HARD I PRESSED IT, THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AHEAD. I MANAGED TO GET ONTO THE MAIN ROAD WITH THE EMERGENCY WRENCH COMING UP ALONG WITH THE DRIVER AIRBAG AND ZERO MILEAGE FOR THE CAR INDICATING. HOWEVER, THIS WAS LUCKY BECAUSE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON HIGHWAY, I WAS EXTREMELY STRESSED OUT STANDING IN THE LANE TO TURN TO HIGHWAY. I CHANGED MY MIND, TURNED AROUND, AND RETURNED TO THE PARKING LOT AT A CRAWL. I UNDERSTAND NOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE LINCOLN MKX 2007 DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FORD OPENED A CLAIM WEBSITE RELATED TO JUST THIS PROBLEM. NO WONDER RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN BOMBARDED WITH THE LETTERS TO RENEW MY FACTORY WARRANTY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. JUST AS I PAID OFF MY CAR LAST JANUARY, IT STARTED BREAKING ON ME. IS IT THE REASON WHY YOU MAKE YOUR CARS TO LAST ONLY DURING THE PERIOD OF THE 5-YEAR FACTORY WARRANTY?!NOW, TO CHANGE SENSOR ON THE PEDAL COST 400+ AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE LINCOLN MKX BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TAKATA INFLATORS PASSENGER SIDE, PURCHASED 2007 LINCOLN MKX ON 7/31/2018 FROM NOURSE DELERSHIP IN CHILLICOTHE OHIO, AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE THAT IT HAS A RECALL .NOURSE DID NOT TELL US ABOUT IT , I WANT THE ISSUE RESOLVED ASAP! THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS FAILED BECAUSE THE ODOR AND SMOKE WERE PRESENT BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER THE RECALL IN 2015. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver and passenger air bag module, and replace either the module or the inflator, if necessary, free of charge. The parts include certain driver-side air bag inflators and/or modules, designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang and Mustang GT500. It also includes certain passenger-side air bag inflators and/or modules designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang, 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ, 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, 2010-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, and 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX vehicles. These parts may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Lincoln MKX, and Ford Edge vehicles, manufactured June 15, 2006, to September 22, 2008, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use, the affected vehicles may leak fuel from the fuel tank seam weld under the tank mounting reinforcement brackets.
Remedy: Interim notices were mailed to owners on December 12, 2014. The recall began on October 6, 2015. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and either clean and treat the fuel tank with a corrosion preventative or replace the tank, free of charge.
