THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING WITH HER AND THEIR DAUGHTER AND GRANDCHILD IN THE VEHICLE AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACTS HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT AND HER HUSBAND THEN GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THEY PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACTS HUSBAND LIFTED UP THE FRONT HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND SAW A FIRE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ENGINE. THE CONTACTS HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO WAIVE DOWN A DRIVER WHO STOPPED AND USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO TRY TO PUT OUT THE FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE FULLY. NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY INJURED BUT THEY DID INHALE A LOT OF SMOKE. A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT AND HER HUSBAND, THEIR DAUGHTER, AND THEIR GRANDCHILD WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR INHALING THE SMOKE FROM THE FIRE. EVERYONE WAS RELEASED WITH NO ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED, DIAGNOSED, OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 253,000.

2007 KIA SEDONA (SAME AS HYUNDAI ENTOURAGE). ONE MINUTE AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS AND CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POLE ACROSS THE STREET. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR HEAR ANY NOISES BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. MY WIFE SUSTAINED INJURIES FROM TRYING TO STOP IT, INCLUDING HAVING HER FOOT RUN OVER AND A HUGE BRUISE ON HER HIP. *TR

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she was informed that smoke was emanating from the vehicle, after which she observed flames emanating from the engine compartment on the driver's side. Bystanders were able to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher. Local emergency services arrived. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired. A fire report was filed. A police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The contact also stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood suddenly unlatched, opened, and smashed into the front windshield. The contact was able to safely pull to the shoulder of the roadway, and attempted to close the hood, but the latch failed to remain secure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the secondary hood latch assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V389000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
THE KIA VAN WAS PARKED , TURNED OFF, KEYS WERE REMOVED, OUTSIDE IN OUR BUSINESS PARKING LOT. A PERSON DRIVING BY NOTICED IT WAS ON FIRE AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 12 AM. (MIDNIGHT) THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THE CALL AND REPORTED TO THE SCENE.

OUR 2007 LOW MILEAGE KIA HAD BEEN PARKED FOR OVER 24 HRS. WHILE SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY NOT RUNNING, NO KEYS IN IGNITION, CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE TRAVELLED TO MY STORAGE BUILDING. WE LOST EVERYTHING IN OUR STORAGE AND OUR VEHICLE. KIA ASSUMES NO FAULT. ATTACHED IS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT AND PICS OF THE DAMAGE.

THE ACCELERATOR ON MY MINIVAN WOULD GET STUCK AND NOT RELEASE. I HAD TO THROW THE GEARSHIFT INTO NEUTRAL ONCE TO DISENGAGE IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SIMILAR EPISODES HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE OTHER TIMES. THE LASE TIME WAS AS I WAS DRIVING UP MY DRIVEWAY INTO THE GARAGE WITH MY ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VAN. THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT RELEASE AND WE CRASHED INTO THE INTERIOR WALL OF MY HOUSE. Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Sedona and 2007-2009 Sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the HECU when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2020. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC186.
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through April 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch or clean and lubricate the latch, depending on the vehicle's location and the condition of the latch. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall number is SC134.
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through August 14, 2012 and originally sold in, or currently registered in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the front lower control arms on 2006-2007 models. 2008-2012 models will either have their front lower control arms replaced or additional anti-corrosion coating will be applied. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion resulting from prolonged exposure to salty environments.

Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.
HUYNDAI-KIA IS RECALLING 139,844 MY 2006-2007- SEDONA, SPORTAGE, SORENTO AND MY RONDO AND AMANTI VEHICLES. THE STOP LAMP SWITCH IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION. A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED OR MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED. A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY ALSO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 17, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA'S CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-333-4542.
