TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, A VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE STRUCK THE OTHER VEHICLE'S FRONT DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
MANUFACTURER RECALL CODE SC186 REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED ON 7/2/20. RECALL WAS DUE TO FLUID LEAKING FROM ABS INTO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND COULD CAUSE CAR TO CATCH FIRE.. ON 12/21/20, POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED AND 4 NEW TIRES INSTALLED. ALL SERVICE/REPAIR DONE AT DEALERSHIP. ON 1/14/21, DRIVER WAS ON MORNING COMMUTE AND WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE MADE CLICKING NOISES. A FEW MILES LATER ON LOCAL ROADS, DRIVER APPROACHED THE SLIGHT INCLINE INTO PARKING LOT AT WORK. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE INCLINE, THE VAN COMPLETELY STOPPED AND STALLED OUT. DRIVER PUSHED ACCELERATOR, CAR DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. DRIVER NOTICED "STEAM" COMING FROM UNDER HOOD. DRIVER TURNED OFF IGNITION, EXITED VEHICLE TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. WITHIN 10 MINUTES, HEAVY SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. NO NOTABLE WEATHER EVENTS. INSURANCE COMPANY WILL MOST LIKELY CALL A COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE. WE MAINTAINIED OUR 2010 KIA SEDONA VERY WELL, WITH 85,000 MILES. OUR CONCERN IS THAT AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE, THAT THE VEHICLE STILL CAUGHT FIRE.

UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, A BYSTANDER WAS RUNNING TOWARDS THE VEHICLE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES UNDER THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS FINALLY EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
My vehicle transmission valve body shift solenoid D has malfunctioning causing my engine overheat and nearly explode

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES, THERE WAS MORE THAN A CAR LENGTH BETWEEN US, BUT WHEN I STEPPED ON BRAKES THE CAR ACCELERATED RATHER THAN STOPPED. I NOTICED OTHER TIMES THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP WHEN STEPPED ON THE BRAKES HARD. SINCE THEN I'M VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT DRIVING IN BAD WEATHER, OR TOO CLOSE. The sliding doors have a rubber piece that over time, gets stuck and causes the door to not latch and close, leaving the door to come open as you are driving. This has been a known issue with these sliding doors on my Kia Sedona. This is highly unsafe due to the ability of the door to come open as you are driving and potentially causing harm for someone to fall out and or be injured.
Abs pump control module is defective, leaking fluid causing safety issues.This part is hard to find and very expensive, also has to be programmed to your vehicle with no guarantees that it will work.called Kia customer service and asked for help with this issue but was rejected.
My 2010 Kia Sedona has a major problem with the brakes. I had a problem with the brake pedal sinking too far. I took it to a local mechanic. This mechanic installed a new master cylinder. Two days later the brakes started to grab. The brakes were activating without my foot on the brake pedal. I had the Kia towed back to the local mechanic. The local mechanic said the master cylinder was working properly. This mechanic told me to take it to the Kia Dealership to reprogram the ABS Module. I have had the Kia at the Kia Dealership three different times for this same problem. The first time the Kia Dealership did do some reprogramming. They also said there was rust in the master cylinder reservoir. The Kia Dealership has driven the car several miles. They claim they can not duplicate the problem. So they have given the car back to me without doing anything. I have had the problem with the brakes grabbing on three different occasions. Each time I have had to have the Kia towed. This problem with the brakes grabbing is extremely dangerous. I am barely able to pull off the road and get the Kia towed. The car will slow down considerably. The car will be hard to control. All four rims have been very hot each time when I touch them with my hand after pulling off the road. The left front rim had smoke coming off it the first time this happened. I have to put on my hazards lights as I can not keep up with traffic when the brakes grab. Also, the first time the brakes grabbed, the ABS and ESC warning lights came on. The last time the brakes grabbed the ESC Off light came on. The Kia Dealership has told me that there are no codes stored in the computer. I am afraid to drive the car. It is sitting in my driveway now. The Kia only has about 19,000 miles on it. I am trying to find a brake specialist locally that can inspect the vehicle brakes. Not sure what to do now.

The contact stated that when he had pulled into a rest stop, he became aware that the rear brake lights were still illuminated even though he had turned the vehicle off and shifted to park(P). The contact stated that he related the failure to a previously repaired recall of NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V114000 (Exterior Lighting). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. The contact stated that brake switch was replaced by the dealer at no charge the first time. The second replacement was at the owner's expense.

REAR SIDE DOORS WON'T UNLOCK AND ARE HARD TO OPEN ON OCCASION. TOOK EARLY ON WHEN IT WAS NEW THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AT TIMES I TOOK. NOW IT IS 10 YEARS LATER AND PROBLEM IS MORE PERSISTENT. HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM.

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Sedona and 2007-2009 Sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the HECU when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2020. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC186.
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through April 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch or clean and lubricate the latch, depending on the vehicle's location and the condition of the latch. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall number is SC134.
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through August 14, 2012 and originally sold in, or currently registered in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.
Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the front lower control arms on 2006-2007 models. 2008-2012 models will either have their front lower control arms replaced or additional anti-corrosion coating will be applied. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion resulting from prolonged exposure to salty environments.

Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.
