BRAKES SQUICK EVEN AFTER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT AND HAS A SLOWER RESPONSE TIME THEN USUAL AND CAUSED A REAR END ACCIDENT, COOLING AND HEATED SEATS STOPPED WORKING ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHICH I MET OWNERS OF MY EXACT CAR SAID THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM, AND THE PASSENGER SEAT CONTROLLERS DOESN'T WORK TO OPERATE ADJUSTABLE SEATS! THE SUSPENSIONS HAS BEEN BAD EVERY SINCE THE RECALL ON THE ENGINE; FOR SOME REASON IT WAS GIVING BACK TO ME WITH THAT PROBLEM FROM KIA DEALERSHIP. BACK-UP CAMERA IS MALFUNCTIONING FOR YEARS NOW AND CAR DOESN'T EVEN BEEP WHEN GETTING TOO CLOSE TO OBJECTS/OTHER VEHICLES ANYMORE EITHER FOR YEARS! I'M JUST FINDING OUT ABOUT THE PROCESS, RECALL LAWS AND RIGHT TO AN INVESTIGATION.*DT*JB

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON A FLAT, FRESHLY PAVED HIGHWAY WITH NO OVERPASSES OR OTHERS CARS NEARBY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AN EXTREMELY LOUD CRASH (SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT) OCCURRED RIGHT ABOVE OUR HEADS. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SUNSHADE ON THE INTERIOR ROOF STARTED FLAPPING AROUND WILDLY IN THE WIND AND HUNDREDS OF PIECES OF SHATTERED GLASS STARTED RAINING ON MY WIFE AND MY HEAD AND BODY. THE SOUND AND FALLING GLASS WAS SO SUDDEN AND DISTRACTING THAT I NEARLY SWERVED OFF THE ROAD, BUT LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. AS MY HEART BEAT OUT OF MY CHEST, I QUICKLY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO CALM DOWN AND ASSESS WHAT HAD HAPPENED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT LOOKED LIKE THE SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED OUTWARD FROM THE CABIN. WE HAVE NO LOGICAL EXPLANATION FOR WHY IT OCCURRED OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A PRE-EXISTING MANUFACTURING DEFECT, WHICH SOUNDS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER INSTANCES I HAVE READ ONLINE. DOING SOME ADDITIONAL RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE ARE APPARENTLY HUNDREDS OF CASES OF THIS OCCURRING IN KIA MODELS AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS BEING BUILT. DESPITE ALL OF THESE INSTANCES BEING REPORTED I WAS NEVER ALERTED BY KIA THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE OR POSSIBILITY. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP NOW AND KIA IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL COVER THE REPAIR COSTS (THEY BETTER AFTER ALL WE WENT THROUGH). MY WIFE AND I BOTH SUFFERED SEVERAL PUNCTURES/SPLINTERS ON OUR HEAD, ARMS, AND LEGS FROM THE TINY GLASS SHARDS. MY WIFE ALSO RECEIVED A GASH/CUT ON HER PALM FROM A PIECE OF GLASS. KIA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO OTHERS WHO MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY AS WE WERE TO WALK AWAY RELATIVELY UNINJURED.

MITCHELL AVE, CINCINNATI, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, A LOUD BOOMING NOISE WAS HEARD AND SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, A LOUD EXPLOSION OCCURRED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT DRIVER SUSTAINED A MINOR HEAD INJURY, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. After the rod bearing engine replacement was preformed. My engine light came on a few days after picking it up from dealer. I immediately reported it to the dealer that I need to bring it in mainly for smog check, and no response. 2 weeks later I told them about it again. No response. 3 weeks later began a fuel smell and I immediately reported that as the smell got stronger. No response. 3 days later the fuel smell was really bad and I was really worried about a fire. This time I called general manager and he never provided any advice or return call. 3 hours later the engine caught on fire. Car is totaled and I could of been seriously injured. I sent pictures and thanked them for their negligence. He finally gave me a phone number for consumer affairs. showed no remorse and claimed that the new engine they just put in has no warranty and they are not responsible. If they would of directed me to bring back in. Or bring it somewhere. Or tell me not to drive it. But completely ignored me. And had the nerve to let me know that was their 4th fire this week. Kia management needs to step it up. I was denied a loaner or rental. And they will try to get back to me by Friday. You must put a stop to this behavior asap!

I WAS INVOLVED IN A LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO BE TOTALED WHEN THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE AND THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE IN MOTION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH WITHOUT ANY SUDDEN WARNING AND MY FAMILY IN THE CAR WE HAD LESS THAN 1 MINUTE TO ESCAPE BEFORE ANOTHER DRIVER SMASHED INTO THE CAR AT 65 MPH. THE CAR STOPPED SO FAST THERE WAS NO TIME TO PULL OVER TO SAFTEY OR A SOULDER
EXITING HWY 71 EAST BOUND TO WOODWARD DECREASING SPEED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME HAD A CAR CUT IN FRONT OF HER. I HAD A SAFE DISTANCE AND SLAMMED MY BRAKES. MY BRAKES DID NOT GRAB AS USUAL MY CAR DID NOT STOP AND I HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I TRULY BELIEVE MY BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. I WILL TAKE MY CAR INTO KIA WHEN I GET IT BACK.
WHILE DRIVE ABOVE 45MPH THE CAR WONDERS LEFT AND RIGHT, MAKING IT VERY HARD TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THERE IS A CATCH IN THE STEERING MAKING IT VERY EASY TO OVER CORRECT THE CAR. I HAVE HAD IT INTO KIA TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT TWICE NOW. THEY HAVE CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT, TIRE PRESSURE... THEY DROVE A SALESMAN'S CAR AND A CAR OFF THERE LOT AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS THE WAY THEY ALL DRIVE. I FIND THIS VERY HARD TO BELIEVE, (ITS A WORKOUT TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD). I HAVE BEEN DOING SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET TO TRY AND FIND A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM, WHILE DOING THIS I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND ARE GETTING THE SAME FEEDBACK FROM THE DEALERS. FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND IS ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2011, 2012, 2013 KIA OPTIMA'S. *TR

Due to an internal leak of brake fluid, a short circuit may occur in the electrical circuit for the ABS/ESC (anti-lock braking system / electronic stability control) system. This may lead to an increase in current and overheating in the fuse box, increasing the risk of the engine catching fire, irrespective of whether the vehicle is parked or being driven. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
