I was in a high speed impact collision rear ended at full speed and thrown into vehicle in front of me, me and my husband both suffered facial trauma as airbags did not deploy and both front seats twisted ans broke backwards in backseat where my 2 minor children were located.
The airbags did not go off when I was struck from the front. Impact was 40 to 50MPH. AAA insurance carrier says its a complete loss with over $31,000 worth or repairs. They are salvaging the Jeep. The Jeep is at my home and available for inspection until AAA insurance takes it away. I was the only one in the Jeep when it was hit. With only the seatbelt to restrain me it severely twisted my body to the left. I have head, neck, back pain with 6 herniated disks. I have dizziness, nausea and loud nonstop ringing in the ears. Airbags have not been inspected by anyone. Only the damages were inspected by the insurance carrier. No warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to the accident.
My wife was involved in an injury accident 12/02/2023 due to failure of the ABS Module not activating and the Air bag system not deploying. She was cut off by a hit and run driver. She slammed on the brakes went into an uncontrollable skid lost control on the Highway went off the road tumbled end over end 4 times no air bag deployment. No ABS or Air bag warning lights were on both systems failed.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STOPPING AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL AND FENDER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS PUSHED UP INTO THE WHEEL WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED LATERALLY APPROXIMATELY 7-10 FEET. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT WENT THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK AND WENT OUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AND HOOD CLIP ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS SEVERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THAT THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT BUT WAS NOT YET INSPECTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND NECK, AND A MINOR LACERATION TO THE RIGHT LEG. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE MIGHT HAVE ALSO SUSTAINED POSSIBLE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD INJURIES. THE OTHER DRIVER SUSTAINED A LACERATION TO THE LEFT LEG BELOW THE KNEE AND WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE SCENE BY THE PARAMEDICS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CHOSE NOT TO LEAVE WITH THE PARAMEDICS BECAUSE AT THE TIME HE FELT NO PAIN HOWEVER, LATER IN THE EVENING AND THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, HE EXPERIENCED EXCRUCIATING PAIN. THE NEXT MORNING THE CONTACT WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THERE WERE CT SCANS AND X-RAYS PERFORMED ON THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V734000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT HE HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION OR NOTIFICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE RECALL FOR WHICH THE VIN WAS INCLUDED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
DURING A ROLLOVER CRASH WHICH INITIATED AT 40 MILES PER HOUR, THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VECHICLE ROLLED AND AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED. AS A RESULT THE OOCCUPANTS EXPERIENCE EXTENSIVE INJURIES CONSISTENT WITH SUDDEN DECELERATION.
ON JANUARY 30, 2017 ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND STOPPED. I HIT THAT VEHICLE WITH MY 2016 JEEP WRANGLER AT ABOUT 30-35MPH. THE IMPACT TOTALED BOTH VEHICLES. MY JEEP'S FRAME WAS BUCKLED AND TWISTED ALL OF THE WAY TO THE REAR BUMPER. THE REAR BODY MOUNT BOLT WERE EVEN BENT. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DIDN'T PRETENSION. I HIT THE DASH WITH BOTH KNEES AND GOT ABDOMINAL MUSCLE INJURIES AS WELL AS SEVERE WHIPLASH. I AM STILL UNDER A DOCTOR'S CARE FOR MY INJURIES INCLUDING A PINCHED NERVE BETWEEN C5-C6. FCA OPENED AN INVESTIGATION AND SENT ME A LETTER STATING THAT "THE RATE OF DECELERATION NECESSARY TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAG AND AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS NOT PRESENT DURING THIS ACCIDENT". THE IMPACT BUCKLED MY FRAME AND TOTALED A 5 MONTH OLD VEHICLE, BUT FCA WANTS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WASN'T SEVERE ENOUGH FOR THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. FCA IS EITHER BEING DECEPTIVE OR THEIR VEHICLES ARE SIMPLY UNSAFE. EITHER WAY, DUE TO THEIR DECEPTIVE ACTIONS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW HOW MANY ACCIDENTS ARE TRULY RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE DEFECT. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL (S76) THE WEEK AFTER MY ACCIDENT WHEN I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FCA. MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR ITS FIRST OIL CHANGE TWO WEEKS AFTER THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED, BUT IT WASN'T REPAIRED AND I WASN'T INFORMED OF A RECALL. I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE TODAY, 74 DAYS AFTER MY ACCIDENT. I HAVE THE POLICE REPORT, PICTURES OF THE JEEP AND THE FRAME, THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER'S CELL PHONE NUMBER AS WELL AS ALL CORRESPONDENCE WITH FCA, SHOULD YOU WANT IT...UPDATED 05/09/17 *BF UPDATED 9/27/18*JB

HORN DOES NOT HONK WHEN DEPRESSED OR THERE MAY BE A DELAY TIL THE HORN ACTUALLY SOUNDS. AT TIMES IT DOES NOT EVEN HONK AT ALL. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE ADDRESS. Pulled into parking space. Applied brakes and came to a complete stop. Could hear engine revving up.. Thought ok, that gas pedal seem to be pressed. Look at my foot wasn’t pressing the pedal. Looked at floor mats. It was laying flat on floor, not manipulating the pedal. I thought what’s happening? And lifted foot off brake ever so slightly and car jumped 6 inch high curb and hit the building.. Pretty hard. Caused structural damage to the wall. I went to the hospital, driven by husband. Swelling of my right leg on the shin. Released and told to stay off leg for few days, no fractures. After doing research, It seems other jeep riders have had this experience. I have no idea how fast the jeep was going.

These small parts could be projected towards the driver/occupants, potentially causing serious or even fatal injuries. Friction can cause the clutch pressure plate to overheat, which can lead the pressure plate to break unexpectedly. The breaking of a pressure plate can form cracks or holes in the transmission housing, from which heated debris can escape. Heated debris expelled from the transmission mounting can come into contact with a source of ignition in the vehicle or in the surroundings, which can cause a fire.
