The contact was later taken to the local medical center. I collided with three parked vehicles and my airbags did not deploy causing me to hit my head
I backed out of a parking space in a parking lot and turned the steering wheel left then as I put vehicle into "drive" my steering seemed to lock up and became extremely hard to turn. I kept attempting to turn wheel and suddenly it was easily turned again as normal. While I was driving home the power steering stopped working causing steering wheel to feel as if locked again and almost impossible to turn in any direction. I almost wrecked my vehicle and hit another vehicle on the road way but hit my brakes and continued to aggressively turn the wheel to missed the vehicle in front of me. I heard and felt a pop and then steering wheel was easily turned again. I barely missed the vehicle in front of me but I did hit the curb and a bicycle a pedestrian was holding next to him on sidewalk. He was able to jump out of the way and was fortunately unharmed. I stopped my vehicle and parked immediately. I called my husband and he came to get the vehicle and I drove his home. He had no problems driving vehicle home and power steering was working as normal but once he was close to pulling into the driveway, a warning message on dash read "service power steering now".... there were no warning of this problem what so ever and just suddenly happened. Very dangerous and I have read many many others have had same issue with exact make and model of 2010 mercury milan. Please add this issue with power steering to recall list so others don't get hurt. I hurt my neck & wrist when I hit that curb and bicycle. I also had to pay for bicycle I hit.. A code reader was put onto car the next day and gave codes C-1963 and C-1277 if that helps with the recall. Thank you for your time and concern in this matter and I apologize for any inconvenience.

POWER STEERING!!!! ON 03/07/17 MY STEERING WENT OUT. CAR VEERED OFF INTO ONCOMING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND NEARLY MISSED A HEAD ON COLLISION!! NO WARNING MESSAGE OR SIGNAL OF ANY KIND. DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING. DROVE HOME AND DISCONNECTED BATTERY FOR AN HOUR AND STEERING WORKED AGAIN. LEFT OUT OF MY DRIVE AND AS I STARTED TO TURN UNTO ROAD THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME, I HIT MY PROPERTY FENCE AND NOW HAVE A FRONT BUMPER THAT IS SMASHED!!! "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK SYSTEM". LOOKED ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY FORD AS THEY RECALLED THE 2011 AND 2012 MILANS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD IN 2015 FOR THIS VERY SAME COMPLAINT. BOTH NHTSA AND FORD NEED TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THE 2010 HAS THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD AND ITS OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE SAME RECALL (#15V340000) THAT WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. PLEASE PLEASE LETS ALL START A SECOND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR US 2010 MERCURY MILAN OWNERS THAT ARE BEING SCREWED BY BIG CORPORATE HEADS AND TRUST THAT THEY WILL BE PAYING TO FIX MY STEERING AND MY FRONT BUMPER AND THEY SHOULD BE GLAD IT'S NOT MY LIFE THEY COULD BE PAYING FOR FROM THE FIRST TIME I NEARLY ESCAPED A HEADON COLLISION.
TRAVELING TO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD DRILL DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS IS WHEN THIS OCCURED. I WAS GOING SPEED LIMIT WHILE TURNING RIGHT ONTO AN ONRAMP WHICH LEADS TO THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A WEIRD VIBRATION IN THE STERRING WHEEL AND IT FAILED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED BACK FROM THE RIGHT POSITION. I AM STRONG AND I COULD NOT MOVE IT. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSE MY CAR TO SMASH INTO A TREE. I WAS KNOCKED OUT, HEAD INJRUY, AND VERY BAD BACK/SHOULDER INJURY. I WAS TAKEN BY 911 TO THE HOSPITAL AND I HAVE BEEN TREATED FOR MULTIPLE THINGS. FORD IS YET TO REPOND TO ANYTHING OR TO OFFER SOME SORT OF SETTLEMENT FOR THIS WHICH IS ABSOLUTLY THEIR FAULT. I HAVE GOT A LAWYER TO KEEP SENDING DEMANDS TO FORD. NOW, I SAW ON THE NEWS THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY A PROBLEM THEY ARE NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT AND CLAIMING NO ONE HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT FROM IT...WELL THIS IS NOT TRUE AS I DID. I AM ALSO SEEKING A NEGLIGENCE CLAIM BECAUSE A WEEK PRIOR, THEY REPLACED A FAULTY TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR WHICH ALSO COULD HAVE LEAD TO THIS. HOPEFULLY YOUR AGENCY DOES SOME SERIOUS INVESTIGATION. *TR

I HAVE HAD THE MILAN 2010 INTO FORD 6 TIMES BECAUSE THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING:NO LIGHTS;BRAKES;STEERING. I HAVE WITNESSES. IT HAS HAPPENED IN ALL TYPES OF CONDITIONS: STOP AND GO TRAFFIC; MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY. THE LAST TIME BLACK SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 6 WEEKS. A WEEK AFTER IT WAS SO CALLED "REPAIRED" THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I STARTED A "LEMON LAW" COMPLAINT IN MARCH 2012. MY MOTHER BECAME FATALLY ILL AND DIED AND I COULD NOT COMPLETE THE CLAIM. JUNE 15, 2012 I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED. I COULD NOT STOP. I CRASHED INTO A CEMENT WALL. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I GOT WHIPLASH. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT PAY THE BALANCE REMAINING ON THE CAR. BBB STOPPED "LEMON LAW" CASE BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. NO ATTORNEY WILL TAKE THE CASE BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MONEY TO BE GAINED. I AM WITHOUT A CAR; IN DEBT; INJURED; DRIVING A RENTAL CAR AND WORKING 12 HOURS A DAY TO BUY A NEW CAR. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 MERCURY MILAN THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MANY TIMES THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING IT HAS LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE LAST STRAW WAS 3 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION KICKED IN WHEN I WAS TURNING IT POPPED MY NECK AND I HIT A CURB. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR. ONE TIME THE GAS PEDAL STUCK AND I HAD TO REACH DOWN AND PULL OUT MY FLOOR MAT. ALSO TRIM PARTS JUST FALL OFF OF THIS THING. *TR
MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AFTER ROTATING THE TIRES. THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" INDICATOR CAME ON AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY ISSUE. I TORE MY ROTATOR CUFF TRYING TO STEER THE CAR. FORD IS NOT RECALLING THE 2010 MODEL EVEN THOUGH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING COMPONENTS ARE IDENTICAL TO THE 2011 WHICH IS RECALLED. A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY 2011 MERCURY MILAN OWNERS ARE MORE VALUABLE THAN 2010 OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR SEVERELY LACERATED HER HAND WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR.
