I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO WORK AND THE ENGINE STOPS AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS ARE ON. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT EVEN TURN OVER LET ALONE START. I HAD AAA TOW THE VEHICLE TO MY HOUSE AND AFTER PUTTING A WRENCH ON THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT AND PHYSICALLY TRYING TO TURN THE MOTOR OVER I REALIZED THE MOTOR IS SEIZED. I HAD NOTICED AFTER DRAINING MY OIL DURING ALL THE PRIOR OIL CHANGES, THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING OIL. THERE IS NO SIGNS OF THE ENGINE LEAKING OIL EXTERNALLY SO IT HAS TO BE AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION ON THE ENGINE. KNOWING THIS I WOULD CHECK AND ADD OIL AS NEEDED BETWEEN Y OIL CHANGES. THE ENGINE HAD PLENTY OF OIL BEFORE AND AFTER THE ENGINE FAILED. SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY ENGINE FROM DAY ONE FROM THE FACTORY. I GUARANTEE THIS ENGINE FAILED BECAUSE OF THE FACTORY THAT ASSEMBLED THE ENGINE.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75MPH THERE WAS A LOUD BANG (LIKE AN M80 EXPLODING). I WAS VERY DAZED AND WAS UNSURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE SUNSCREEN WAS CLOSED AND SEEMED TO BE FLAPPING AS IF WIND WAS BLOWING ON IT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE I FOUND THAT THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED AND THAT THE EDGES OF THE ROOF WERE POINTING STRAIGHT UP. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES. THERE WERE RAIN CLOUDS MOVING IN AND I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE, SO I WENT RIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I REMEMBER ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS SAYING "WOW, I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE". THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED PLASTIC CARPET FILM OVER THE HOLE AS THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT SUNROOF. THE ROOF WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY A FEW DAYS LATER. *TR

I have a Hyundai 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. I parked the car in the middle of my cement driveway. I went into my home for a moment to get my Stanley water bottle. When I walked back to the car, the engine compartment was on fire. I had 2 fire extinguishers and attempted to put out the fire by to no avail. My daughter immediately called 911 to report the fire. The fire department came and it took about 8-10 fireman to put the fire under control. I have owned all types of cars for the past 40-years. I have never seen a car go up in flames and burn to the ground in about one minute. Had I parked my car in the garage my entire house would have burn down while potentially killing my entire family. I called my insurance company (Geico) to advise them of the fire and asked them to contact Hyundai about the matter. Geico said its not their responsibility. I'm having difficulty contacting Hyundai to report this serious fire before some other family gets killed. I never was notified about any type of dangerous recall with the entire car burning down. I will try to contact Hyundai again tomorrow morning (XXX). Please help me with this matter as Hyundai must be held accountable for this fire almost killing my entire family. More importantly I wish to help prevent a similar situation for another family in the future.
