While accelerating, well after a car far infront of me turned, the forward collision warning went off and automatically applied full breaks while I was accelerating slamming my legs into the dash. My kid has marks from his car seat. This is 3rd and most sever instance of this almost causing a severe crash behind me. While I hate the automatic idle stop function and want it gone, it hasn’t worked in 4 week and randomly started doing it today and now stopped again. The AC in the seets also stopped working when temps hit 110 in Phoenix.
Yesterday we were in our minvan (I had not entered yet and was standing outside the fornt passenger door but wife, children, and dog were inside. My daughter mashed the button to close the power sliding door on the right side of the van but did not notice that the dogs tail was wagging near the door entrance. All of a sudden I heard loud screaming and I opened the door on the right side. She was bleeding and in tears and said that the power door had closed on our dog's tail. I am a physician so I provided first aid. My concern is that when we bought the van we aksed about the power doors because we were concerned about them possibly closing on someone or something since they can be closed by multiple passengers. The salesmen assured us that the doors would not close on anything or anyone and would reverse if they met any resistance. Well the door completely closed all the way in this case despite the dogs tail sticking out of it.
I left my home to go to the house of prayer for prayers and when I came to the stop sign to turn right, my vehicle didn't stop and continued forward which led to crossing the street and over the curb and through the grass of almost fifty feet into the lake. I almost drowned and called 911 to assist me out of the vehicle which was in the lake almost four feet in the water. I am not sure what happened, and I want to report so that if there is any manufacture fault that needs to be addressed to manufacturer then I need to report this incident. My 8 year old child became locked in the seatbelt, the seatbelt would not unbuckle nor release tension, it kept getting tighter and tighter and he tried to get out when it then tightened around his diaphragm and chest making it very hard to take a breath. I had to pull over and ask a store for tools to try and release it but it kept getting tighter and he was panicking. I had three other children in the car and could not take the time to get help without potentially having him go into respiratory arrest. I had to cut the seat belt. My child is terrified of the car, I am terrified this could happen again. I now am down an entire seat due to the cut seatbelt.
The rear lift gate malfunctioned, causing my rear lift gate to get scratch from top to bottom because the lift gate would NOT STOP. I have never had issues with manually stopping the lift gate. I pushed the button and let it come up and then used force to stop it and it would not stop. I do CrossFit 5 days a week and find myself to be strong suit, I physically could not stop this lift gate. It broke two of my nails in the process because I was doing everything I could to stop the lift gate. Instead of stopping it kept going scratching up against our basketball hoop because it malfunctioned. what if this was my arm or my leg stuck in between versus an item? What if this was someone's head, including my children's head? it would have decapitated them. The amount of force of this lift gate was insane, there was absolutely no stopping it. My child was inside the minivan in the 2nd row and pressed the close door button on the sliding door while holding their other hand on the door jamb near the handle on the interior frame. The door slid closed and smashed their hand hard, automatically latching the door with their hand crushed inside the door. This is possible because their is a pinch sensor, but it is only on the outside edge of the door. So anything in between the door and the frame on the interior edge can be crushed hard without any sensor to detect and prevent it. I tested this with a flip flop and confirmed that it could be placed inside almost the entire width of the door and the door would still close with unrelenting full force. This does not seem to be a manufacturing defect, but instead seems to be a significant safety design defect and puts children or adults inside the vehicle at risk for injury including broken fingers.
My hand got burned getting a kids toy under the van. The muffler is unusually low and needs a vented shield to protect people from burns and cuts and to protect the muffler from debris and impacts from speed bumps, etc. This is dangerous for people, kids, and the engine.
While driving from [XXX] to [XXX], all of the safety systems started to fail. We had driven about 45 minutes from our starting point. As the system started to fail, they would flash across the screen on the dashboard saying each one that was failing. We pulled over to the side of the road, and my husband popped the hood and flames started coming out of the hood, closest to the dashboard and windshield. Not sure about what component could have triggered but I started seeing smoke and fire from the front hood. I managed to stop and exit the call to call emergency services. The fire aggravated that the whole car was burned. The dealer was notified as well as the Honda but yet to hear back. The claim is also filed with insurance company that they indicated to be getting custody of the vehicle to inspect.
An engine rod blew a hole in the engine block while traveling on the highway. This resulted in loss of engine power while others traveling at highway speeds around me. Additionally the vehicle was smoking heavily and smelled of burning . The vehicle only had 64000 miles with an adequate maintenance record.
I was pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake. My 2023 Odyssey van accelerated instead of braking. There is also supposed to be an auto car warning & braking if you are about to hit a car in front of you. None of this happened! In fact, it crashed into the car in front of me. As soon as it started to accelerate, I released the brake and reapplied the brake as hard as I could. It still hit the car in front of me. It didn't look like there was any damage to their car, but I was very shaken up and now I am worried this will happen again. It happened today, April 18, 2024. My mother was in the car and was as shocked and stressed as I am as the van went from very slow to fast. My body is still shaking. I haven't had it inspected yet. I have an appointment on May 1, 2024, to go to Odonnell Honda. The woman receptionist in the service area said I may have had my foot on the gas. I did not because when I pull into a parking spot, I always have my foot on the brake and go in very slowly. As a brand-new van, I am very alarmed and very nervous it could happen again.
when on default idle stop, ie at a red light at an intersection, there's been a few times where the engine doesn't turn back on, leaving me stranded. battery has been checked and is fine.
Front passenger window completely shattered while vehicle was parked and unoccupied. Outside air temperature was 94° with dewpoint in the 80s.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the windows were stuck and became inoperable. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the windows only went halfway up before falling. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was determined that the window tracks were deteriorating on the driver’s and passenger’s sides. The contact stated that a new window motor was installed but felt that the issue might reoccur. The failure mileage was not provided.

The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Vantage Mobility, LLC (VM) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Honda Odyssey, 2021-2025 Chrysler Pacifica, and Toyota Sienna vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2023 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Pilot, and 2019-2023 Passport vehicles. Due to a faulty Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable connector, the rearview camera image may not appear on the display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Solution : Dealers will replace the MOST cable harness and install a straightening cover over the vehicle cable connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2023.
