THIS IS A REPORT OF BRAKE FAILURE THAT CAUSED A VEHICLE COLLISION WITH INJURIES. ON OCTOBER 29, 2016, I RENTED A 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA FROM A BETTERWAY RENT-ACAR, INC. D/BA BUDGET RENT A CAR OF ATLANTA, AT 6509 ROSWELL RD, ATLANTA, GA 30328. THE TOYOTA HAD 21,619 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE RENTAL. AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30PM I WAS DRIVING SOUTHEAST ON JIMMY CARTER BLVD IN NORCROSS GEORGIA. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND SUNNY AND THE ROAD WAS DRY. UPON DEPARTING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH IN MODERATE TRAFFIC TOWARDS VEHICLES WAITING AT THE INTERSECTION OF JIMMY CARTER BLVD AND ROCKBRIDGE SCHOOL ROAD ONE BLOCK AWAY. I BEGAN APPLYING THE BRAKES LONG BEFORE REACHING THE VEHICLES WAITING AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION, HOWEVER THE CAR'S BRAKE ACTION WAS MINIMAL. AS I COMPLETELY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND SIMILAR TO THE ENGAGEMENT OF AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS), HOWEVER THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DECELERATION. WHEN I FULLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, I DID NOT HEAR AN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPM, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT DOWNSHIFT, AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. AS A RESULT OF THE TOYOTA'S BRAKE FAILURE, I IMPACTED A STATIONARY VEHICLE AT THE INTERSECTION OF JIMMY CARTER BLVD AND ROCKBRIDGE SCHOOL ROAD. THE TOYOTA'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO SKIDMARKS AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. I SUFFERED INJURIES AS WELL AS MULTIPLE OCCUPANTS IN THE OTHER VEHICLE. *TR
WAS IN MAJOR ACCIDENT, FRONT FRAME BENT, RADIATOR CRUSH, WHOLE FRONT AND SIDE FENDERS SCHREDDED AND NEITHER DRIVER NOR PASSENGER AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. WAS STATIONERY AT 4 WAY INTERSECTION, DRIVER RAN LIGHT, GOT HIT BY A TRUCK FROM THE SIDE, TOOK OFF FRONT OF CAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT, A PICKUP TRUCK TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INCLUDING THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A HEAD AND SHOULDER INJURIES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED LOWER BACK INJURIES. BOTH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER FRANK FLETCHER TOYOTA LOCATED AT 2209 S RANGELINE RD, JOPLIN, MO 64804 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
TAKATA RECALL, I WAS DRIVING HOME IN STOP IN GO TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY AND THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME SPEED UP. ONCE I ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 20-25 MILES AN HOUR THE TRUCK STOPPED, I SAW IT AND TRIED TO STOP BUT BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE THAT YOU COULD FEEL AND HEAR AS WELL AS WOULDN'T LET YOU PUSH ALL THE WAY DOWN ON BRAKES. THIS RESULTED IN ME HITTING THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME. HOOD IS PUSHED UP AND FRONT BUMPER COMPLETELY OFF AS WELL AS LIGHT DAMAGE AND MORE BUT NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. ALL 3 OF MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THIS IS A HUG SAFETY ISSUE.

THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT LET ME GO FORWARD( (I BELIEVE I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL), I HAVE A BRUISED STERNUM AND AN AORTIC ANEURYSM IN MY DESCENDING AORTA AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT.

ON JUNE 24TH 2016 I PURCHASED A 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA S. I HAD 3 MINOR BRAKE FIALURES WITH GRINDING SOUNDS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ON THOSE 3 OCCASIONS.THE 4TH BRAKE FAILURE WAS A LOT WORSE AND I ENDED UP APPLYING THE E BRAKE AND SLIDE INTO COUNTY LINE DIVIDING PASCO & HERNANDO COUNTY FLORIDA. ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SAID " I NEED TO BRING MY CAR IN ASAP BECAUSE NOW I HAVE HAD FOUR BRAKE FAILURES AND THIS ONE COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF ANYONE HAD BEEN COMING. THIS WAS THE 21ST OF JULY, I HAD BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION OF MY BRAKES. ALL THEY DID WAS TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE, BROUGHT IT BACK AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. ON SEPTEMBER TENTH 2016 I GOT INTO THE RIGHT HAND TURN LANE, WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. I CONTINUED TO APPLY MORE AND MORE PRESSURE AND STILL NO BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO VEER ENOUGH TO THE RIGHT SO I DIDN'T IMPACT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HOWEVER THE LADY BEHIND THAT CAR WAS NOT AS LUCKY AND I IMPACTED HER FRONT LEFT PRETTY MUCH HEAD ON. I HAVE CALLED OVER AND OVER I HAVE SENT PICTURES OF MY CAR AND THE ROAD WHERE THERE WAS NOT EVEN 1 SKID MARK. I HAVE 9 BULGING DISC 4 HERNIATED DISCS. I AM LITERALLY BROKE FROM CAR RENTALS DR'S APPOINTMENTS AND MEDICATION THAT HAS BEEN VERY EXPENSIVE. EVERY TIME I CALL I AM INSTRUCTED I WILL RECEIVE A CALL FROM THEIR CLAIMS/LEGAL DEPARTMENT WITHIN 30 BUSINESS DAYS FROM WHEN THEY RETRIEVED THE DATA FROM THE CAR THAT ALMOST KILLED ME AND A POOR WOMAN WHO WAS TAKEN AWAY IN AN AMBULANCE. I LOOKED THROUGH THE DATA AND I AM NO ENGINEER AND I CAN EVEN SEE WHERE THE BRAKES FAILED. TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS IF YOU SEE S NEWER TOYOTA BECAREFUL.
In 2024, my 2016 Toyota Corolla was involved in a collision. The airbags did not deploy. I went to the emergency room following the crash and later required additional medical treatment, including rehabilitation.
The driver seat belt dont work and once in a great while it will work but even whenever it does latch it still shows the seat belt isn't on and that noise keeps going off but after a while the noise goes off but the symbol is still on the dash board. I recently got hit from behind (09/15/2025) at a red light and no air bags deployed. Im not sure if they were suppose to deploy but either way my seat belt dont work. And I know this isn't a safety matter but my radio doesn't turn off when I turn off my car and I can't lock/unlock my doors with the key fob I have to lock it with the key on the driver door. I have to take the fuse out for the radio so my battery won't die and so the radio turns off.

I have been driving my car since 2016, however since Nov 24, 2023. Incidents that alarm me have happen. I have filed a police report but don't have the funds to get vehicle swept. All of these events occur while I am driving. Passenger windows goes up in and down a lot. Static in my speakers. Steering wheels lock. somethings draining my battery. though I have ensured nothings on or there isn't any short fuses. Doors unlock. Door beeps though someone has had access. Trunk pops open. I am reaching out to NHTSA because my safety is at risk. Is any other Corolla owners reporting this. Please assist me.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2011-2019 Corolla, 2011-2013 Matrix, 2012-2018 Avalon, and 2013-2018 Avalon Hybrid vehicles. During certain crashes, the air bag electronic control unit (ECU) may malfunction, possibly disabling the deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.
Solución: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ECU and install a noise filter between the air bag control module and its wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. Owners were notified of the safety risk beginning March 2, 2020. A second letter notifying owners of the remedy repair will be mailed between March 16, 2020 and June 27, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 20TB03, 20TA03 and 20TA05.
