TAKATA RECALL: VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. ACCIDENT OCCURRED. VEHICLE STRUCK AUTOMOBILE IN FRONT OF IT. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. DRIVER WAS KILLED. *TR ## VIN PASSED ## HONDA CIVIC 2004 ##
ON JULY 12, 2014 MY HUSBAND (DRIVER) AND MYSELF (PASSENGER) WERE INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH WITH MY 2004 HONDA CIVIC. TRAVELING AT APPROX. 35 MPH WE HIT A PARKED DODGE RAM TRUCK HEAD ON. MY HUSBAND SUFFERED SIX FRACTURED RIBS. I HAD A BLACK LEFT EYE, A SEVERE CONCUSSION, A SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE (BLEED ON THE TOP OF MY BRAIN), MY TOP FRONT TEETH WERE EMBEDDED IN MY TOP LIP AND HAD A COMPLICATED VERTICAL TOP LIP LACERATION REQUIRING STITCHES. DUE TO DAMAGE OF MY TOP LIP I NO LONGER HAVE FEELING AT THE LOCATION OF THE LACERATION OR WHERE MY TEETH WERE EMBEDDED IN MY TOP LIP AND WAS TOLD I WILL NOT GET IT BACK. DUE TO THE LACERATION I HAVE A VERTICAL SCAR FROM ABOVE CENTER OF MY LIP THAT GOES TO THE INSIDE OF MY LIP. A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER OUR ACCIDENT THE AIRBAG RECALL CAME OUT. WE LOOKED AT PHOTOS OF THE INSIDE OF MY HONDA. UP UNTIL THIS TIME WE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHERE MY HEAD/FACIAL INJURIES CAME FROM. LOOKING AT THE PHOTOS YOU CAN SEE THE AIRBAG EXPLODED. THUS IT CUT MY FACE AND CAUSED ME TO GO INTO THE DASHBOARD AFTER EXPLODING CAUSING THE SEVERE CONCUSSION AND SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE. HAD THE AIRBAG STAY INFLATED AS IT SHOULD I WOULD OF NOT SUFFERED THE HEAD/FACIAL INJURIES. SOME OF WHICH WILL NOW HAVE THE REST OF MY LIFE. ...UPDATED 01/06/15 *BF
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED, WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH., A POLICE VEHICLE ENTER FROM A SIDE ROAD, CAUSING A COLLISION. THE IMPACT WAS ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, ALLOWING THE CONTACT TO IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN MINOR HEAD INJURIES. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH INJURIES. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT.
MY 04 CIVIC WIRING ALMOST SET MY CAR COMPLETELY ON FIRE. THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL HARNESSES WHERE MELTED THE CAR WITHOUT WARNING STARTED BLOWING SMOKE OUT OF THE AIR VENTS, I PULLED OVER AND THE CAR WAS THICK WITH SMOKE. THE WIRES UNDER THE HOOD AND INSIDE THE CAR ALL THE WAY TO THE TRUNK WERE ALL MELTED. I TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE ELETRICAL AND SENSORS IN THE WHOLE CAR. IT COST OVER $3100. TO REPLACE EVERYTHING, THE CAR SOMTIMES WONT START AND THE COMPUTER HAS TO BE RESET TO START ALSO THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS NOW ON., THE DEALER SAID EVERY ELECTRICAL COMPONENT ON THE CAR MIGHT NEED TO BE REPLACED, COMPUTER ETC. BUT IT WILL COST ABOUT $4000+ DOLLARS AND ITS POSSIBLE THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT., 2004 HONDA CIVICS ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE., DRIVING HONDA CIVICS ARE DANGEROUS AND NO ONE SHOULD BUY THEM.
The air bag failed to deploy during the vehicular collision on Jan.27, 2022 at the intersection in a city in Virginia. The HONDA Civic LX 2004 was hit by another vehicle on the driver side; the air bag on the passenger side deployed BUT NOT THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER SIDE. The driver suffered head injury (hematoma and cuts on scalp) & lumbar fracture and has to be treated in ER and was hospitalized for a few days. The injured driver also cannot go back to work until completely healed and still undergoing treatment. The car was moved from the towing service company shop to the storage facility of USAA (as of this writing, the vehicle is still there). In the police report, in the box for "Airbag Deployed", the officer encircled YES but did NOT specify it was for the passenger side ONLY. The insurance company declared the car NOT REPAIRABLE based on their inspections.
WHEN I STOPED AT A STOP SIGN, MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED, KNOCKING ME UNCONSCIOUS. I PROCEEDED TO HIT A TREE GOING AT AN ACCELERATED SPEED. I WAS AIRLIFTED BY HELICOPTER TO A TRAMA HOSPITAL. I HAD 3 FRACTURED RIBS, A BROKEN STERNUM, AND 4 BROKEN BONES IN MY LOWER BACK. I FRECEIVED A CALL BACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS ACCIDENT WAS BECAUSE OF FRAUD FROM TAKATA, AND HONDA. MY CAR SHOULD'VE BEEN RECALLED.
TAKATA RECALL DURING A JANUARY SNOWFALL AND FREEZE, I WAS TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50-60 MILES PER HOUR, WITH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC. A CAR APPROXIMATELY 7-8 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD OF ME BEGAN TO BREAK AND I DID TOO. I WAS BREAKING WHEN MY CAR BEGAN TO FISHTAIL AND I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR FOR 2-3 SECONDS BEFORE HITTING A PATCH OF ICE AND SPINNING INTO THE HIGHWAY CONCRETE MEDIAN. MY CAR DID NOT HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLES BEFORE HITTING THE MEDIAN ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND HOOD. I ESTIMATE THAT I WAS TRAVELING OVER 40 MILES AN HOUR. THE CAR THEN SPUN AROUND AND HIT THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE AND THEN SPUN AGAIN TO FACING FORWARD. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE AIRBAGS, WHICH WERE REPLACED IN THE TAKATA RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO DID NOT GO OFF. THE CAR WAS CONSIDERED TOTALED AND WAS DONATED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AND FLIPPED OVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HEAD, ARM, LEG, AND WAIST THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS INVOLVED A 3 CAR CRASH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CIVIC WAS THE LAST CAR TO TRY TO STOP. THE CAR DID NOT HAVE TIME TO STOP AND SINCE THERE WAS A CONCRETE BARRIER ON ONE SIDE AND TRAFFIC IN OTHER LANES, THE CAR REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BY THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT. THE DRIVER EXPERIENCED A GREAT DEAL OF CHEST PAIN. *TR
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION (AT A SPEED OF 35-40 MPH) THAT RESULTED IN THE CAR BEING "TOTALED" DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FRONT END, FRONT BUMPER, SIDE PANELS WERE CRUSHED AND THE FRAME OF THE CAR WAS BENT. EVENTHOUGH THE AIR BAG SENSORS IN THE FRONT WERE "HIT", NO AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT, DRIVER SUFFERED SEVERE WHIPLASH AND INJURED ANKLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT THE MOST DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE DRIVER SIDE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SLICK AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. SHE SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND A MILD CONCUSSION AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 53,379.
2004 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 80 MPH IN 10 SECONDS THE BRAKES FAILED. *MC
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME AIRBORNE FLYING OVER A THREE FEET CONCRETE BARRIER, HITTING A ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEATBELTS WERE IN USE HOWEVER BACK AND NECK INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS POLICE REPORT FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IS AWAITING INSPECTION.
DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN FRONT END COLLISION WITH SERVE DAMAGE TO CAR INCLUDING MOVING THE ENGINE, REPLACEMENT OF THE RADIATOR, FAN HOUSING, FT BUMPER AND HOOD. SPEED APPROX. 35 MPH. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO HONDA IN REGARD TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT. HONDA DEALER EVEN ASSURED THE OWNER ONE WEEK PRIOR TO ACCIDENT THAT AIR BAG WAS FUNCTIONING.
FRONT END COLLISION, SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO CAR, SMOKING AND FIRE TRUCK AT SCENE. DRIVER TAKEN OUT ON BACKBOARD WITH NECK BRACE IN PLACE BY EMS PERSONNEL AND TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. NO AIR-BAGS DEPLOYED. REPORT FILED WITH HONDA. CURRENTLY, INVESTIGATION TAKING PLACE TO SEE WHY AIR-BAGS DIDN'T WORK. *NM

Exposure of the aluminium negative terminal to the electrolyte can cause a chemical reaction, leading to material degradation around the electrical connection. This compromises the connection's seal and can cause an electrolyte leakage. This can lead the terminals to crack, rendering the vehicle inoperable due to electrical failure. If the battery remains live, a spark can occur, posing a risk of a vehicle fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
A reduction in the amount of grease in the steering gearbox during use results in dangerously fluctuating torque during steering. This can create a loss of vehicle's control and increases the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
On wheels without pressed-in hubs made of alloy steel, the tightening torque of the wheel nuts is too low and could cause the nuts to come loose while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in a risk of wheel loss, accident and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Due to a problem during the production process, the vibration of the engine can cause cracks inside the high-pressure fuel pump. This may lead to a fuel leak, increasing the risk of fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Due to a faulty circuit board in the passenger seat weight sensor, the passenger seat’s occupant detection system may identify a Steering Wheel Sensor (SWS) error and the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) warning light could switch on. This can cause a faulty triggering of the airbags, creating a risk of injuries for a child occupying the passenger seat. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The fuel pump impeller's defective molding can cause the impeller to have low density, which can lead to cracking. This can result in the impeller absorbing too much fuel, deforming, and potentially causing the fuel pump to fail. This failure can lead to the engine stalling while driving or failing to start, creating a risk of accidents and injuries to vehicle occupants. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
