Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437. We were in an accident that has caused injury to the driver (fiancé) and passenger (myself). The impact was on the front driver side. No airbags deployed. No emergency braking activated or collision warning appeared. The cruise control was on, that also activates all sensors. We do not have insurance information yet, but this vehicle is most likely going to total. We have yet to receive the incident report from the police.
There is a strong smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the vehicle when it's running. The smell is absolutely nauseating. I've been told that at this point Nissan is aware of the issue and there is no fix as of yet. Now I'm stuck driving a brand new car that is making me and my family ill.
I was driving down the highway and my ac vents started blowing hot air, then my car started to putt like it wanted to stop, then thick smoke started coming out my AC vents filling my car to the point I could not see. I pulled over and my entire car was full of smoke and I began to choke as I put the car in park and crawled out my smoking car. Bystanders pulled over to help me and my car was smoking from the engine and back of car. The police and fire department were called and I was take to a local hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation.

During the crash the frontend of the vehicle was severely damage but no air bags deployed. The contact sustained a sore neck and head ace and was treated at the hospital the following day. No injuries were reported in the second vehicle. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to the local collision center. The cause of the failure was not determine. While making a left turn at approximately 10 mph in light snow conditions, braking became severely impaired with pedal pressure present but vehicle failing to decelerate, and steering became significantly resistant and insufficient to redirect the vehicle away from the obstacle. Vehicle continued toward a tree despite brake pedal input and steering input away from the tree. Slippery road warning light activated before and during the incident. Multiple additional warning lights activated during and after impact. Airbags did not deploy despite collision. Post-incident, steering required significant opposite steering input to drive straight for approximately 1.7 miles to reach a safe parking location, consistent with front-end damage affecting steering alignment. Prior to this incident, I experienced multiple separate occasions where braking felt abnormal and insufficient in conditions requiring higher traction including rain and snow. I verbally reported this concern once to an authorized Nissan dealer in December 2025 and was told this was normal AEB system behavior. No documentation was created for this verbal complaint. Vehicle had a prior manufacturer recall performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on June 1, 2024 reconfiguring the IPDM/USM — the module controlling electronic steering column lock and CAN bus safety system communications. At that same visit, the Nissan technician documented abnormally dirty brake fluid at only 14,410 miles on this 2023 vehicle. A second manufacturer recall reprogramming the ECM was performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on December 4, 2025, approximately two months before this incident. The vehicle is available for inspection. No independent or dealer post-incident inspection has occurred. An insurance claim has been opened. Incident occurred within the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturer warranty period at under 31,000 miles.

The contact stated that an outside source deflated the tires and was able to shut down and accelerate the vehicle using a chip in the key fob, causing her to crash into the sidewalk. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire or air bag deployment. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
I was sold a 2023 Nissan Rogue last July From *** Nissan of Topsham ME. that had a faulty main seal/head gasket which allowed exhaust, coolant and freon vapors to be blown into the car effectively creating a gas chamber. 31 days after my purchase at service appointment to fix defroster I was told "all the coolant leaked out of the resevoir and we don't know where it went, you should keep an eye on it". I was never told further diagnostics were needed at that time however once I realized what was going on and decided to file a complaint with the Maine attorney general's office, I looked over paperwork from visit that day and mechanics notes stated "coolant may be leaking into engine further diagnostics are needed". Let me explain that I am a courier and drive my car all day every day staring and stopping it as I make deliveries. I drove the car around poisoning myself with fumes for 7 months. I began to feel ill in November when I started using the heater more. I was completely exhausted (literally) and didn't know why. I also was having cognitive difficulties and sleeping 10-11 hours a day. In Jan 2025 I developed white spots on my tonsils and the back of my throat felt as if it was scorched. I began having uncontrollable muscle twitching and my hair and eyelashes were falling out, I still did not realize what was wrong. At the beginning of Feb. I smelled strong fumes, I immediately brought the car to ******Nissan in Las Vegas NV. where I was at the time, I left the dealership that day having been told once again "we don't know what's wrong". I have come to learn that both dealerships knew what was wrong and were just ignoring the problem. The car had the engine replaced not once but twice, the first engine had no compression, the 2nd also had the same terrible smell. I have been poisoned and lied to. I now have multiple health issues. Car surrendered [XXX] ********** C.U. Westbrook ME. All paperwork to support claim available. PLEASE HELP! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the odor of fuel was present inside the cabin of the vehicle, causing the contact to become ill. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 300.
The smell of gas fumes was inside and outside of the car. I took a CO2 blood test and the CO2 levels came back high. The dealership said a recall was coming out soon. The vehicle supposedly was looked over by the dealership service manager. This began shortly after I bought the vehicle. Didn’t know it was an issue until I saw a lawsuit against the company regarding this matter.
how brake failure caused the Rogue to crash. “I was coming up on a stop and was trying to slowly come to a stop. But I noticed that my car wasn’t slowing down. So, I tried to brake harder by pushing on the brake pedal, but the pedal resisted my foot pressure. I pressed harder on the pedal, but the car didn’t start to beep the collision warning. I was not in control of the braking system (and) the car would not stop. The car wasn’t allowing me to brake. as everything happened so fast. I ended up rear ending someone.”
The heating element in the drivers seat of my 2023 Nissan Rogue shorted out, and started on fire while I was driving. The drivers seat became unbearably hot in less than 4 minutes, I began smelling hot electrical, and by the time I began to pull over, the driver seat was smoking underneath my legs. I could visibly see the white fibers inside of the seat start glowing red as a small hole began to melt between my thighs. I immediately turned the heated seats off and pulled over to exit the car. I have minor burning on the bottom and inside of my thighs. The fire department came to assess and do thermal imaging. It was determined the seats heating element shorted out. There was no warning lights indicating any issues prior to the incident. The heated seats light did begin to flash after the incident.
On June 3, 2026, I brought my vehicle to O'Brien Nissan of Bloomington because I was experiencing significant problems with the continuously variable transmission (CVT). Specifically, the SERVICE NOW light came on, the vehicle would not shift into park, and I was concerned about a CVT malfunction. I explained these concerns to the service advisor Jason who is the current service manager and expected that the vehicle would be thoroughly inspected and any necessary repairs would be completed. The purpose of my visit was specifically to have the transmission issue addressed and repaired before it developed into a more serious safety concern. The dealership's response was as follows: • Complaint: The CVT malfunction SERVICE NOW light came on, and the car would not shift into park • Cause: TECH FOUND MULTIPLE STORED CODES. NO CURRENT CODES. TECH TESTED TRANSMISSION OPERATION AND FOUND NO ISSUE AT THIS TIME. • Correction: NO REPAIRS SUGGESTED FOR THIS VISIT According to the service manager Jason, the CVT was not serviced because it was approximately 3:30 p.m. when the customer returned the service request form through email and it was close to the end of the workday. When I got to the dealership to pick up and pay the total should have been $336.00 but it was $109.00 that’s when I requested to speak to the manager on duty. I expressed my concern about the CVT and the actions of the vehicle and how it would just take off when trying to park. I was assured that my vehicle was safe to drive, and that sometimes lights just appear because the cars are digital per Shawn the manager on duty and I relied on that representation when leaving the dealership. The Multi-Point Inspection Report from June 3, 2026, also noted the following: Component Status Transmission Fluid Level/Condition Cautioned Fuel Injection System Cautioned Brake Fluid Condition Cautioned Cabin/HEPA Filter Cautioned Engine Air Filter Failed Rear Brake Linings (LR/RR) Cautioned Front Collision Avoidance Light
The contact owned a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that six months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally while driving, accelerating, and the vehicle was hesitating. During an oil change, the contact informed the mechanic about the excessive vibration while driving. The contact was notified of an undisclosed recall, but there was no remedy for the recall. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer, but the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure. During another failure, the vehicle turned off independently while stopped at a red light. The vehicle restarted after three attempts. The vehicle was driven slowly back to the residence. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a second time, and an undisclosed pump was replaced. The contact stated that months later, the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle could not be restarted. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the vehicle started smoking while it was stuck on the roadway. While the vehicle was completely stopped and disabled in the roadway, another vehicle rear-ended it. The air bags did not deploy. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
