Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Remedy: Dealers will install a protective film over the rear window and remove padding, as necessary free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning March 13, 2026. Final remedy owner letters will be mailed in phases, beginning in June 2026 and expected to continue through December 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. The seat belt buckles in the driver, passenger, and second-row window seats may fail to latch.
Remedy: Passengers are advised to insert the belt firmly into the buckle with a quick and direct motion, pulling on the belt to confirm the seat belt is fully secured, until the recall remedy is performed. Dealers will replace the seat belt buckle assemblies, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed beginning October 23, 2025. Final remedy owner letters will be mailed in phases, beginning in June 2026 and expected to continue through December 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [XXX] death with respect to this operation already in Ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. The contact owned a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed with both feet, but the brakes failed to engage properly. The vehicle slid and jumped, and the brakes made a grinding sound. No warning light was illuminated. The failure caused the vehicle to rear-end another vehicle in front. The air bags deployed. The contact experienced neck pain, and her husband suffered a burn mark from the air bag deployment. The contact's eleven-year-old son suffered neck pain and a seat belt burn, while her other child had no injuries seated in a car seat. Medical attention was received. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and declared a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that prior to the crash, the vehicle had been taken to the dealer for the brake failure, and the dealer performed a brake inspection and passed the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
The contact owned a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 25-30 MPH on a curvy road, the steering wheel suddenly locked up, and the vehicle failed to drive in the intended direction, drove down the street, into a yard, and the front end of the vehicle crashed into a tree. The brake pedal was depressed prior to the crash, but the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The air bags deployed during the crash. After the vehicle had crashed into the tree, a bystander yelled that the vehicle was on fire. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact stated that the fire started under the hood, near the engine compartment. The vehicle made exploding sounds three times while the 4 ft. tall fire progressed towards the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the entire vehicle burned with the exception of the rear exterior lights and the rear passenger's side tire. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department, and a report was filed. A Police report was filed. There was no property damage. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact sustained chest pains, bruises on the chest cavity, several contusions and bruises, and difficulty breathing. The contact was undergoing breathing therapy. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
On June 30th, I turn right, into a parking lot. I take an immediate left and pull up to a stop sign at the end of a fast food driveway. There is about a 30 ft distance between turning right off of the main road and stopping at the stop sign. While attempting to brake, they lock up and skid. I have a scared foster child in the car. I was unable to brake, only using my right foot. I have to apply pressure to finally be able to get it to stop, with my left foot as well. While doing this, I hit my left, big toenail on the brake pedal and rip half of it off. Upon a quick Google search, looking for issues with the brakes, I discover that there is a current lawsuit for 2023-2025 Palisade models for ABS and traction control issues. Clearly this is a reoccurring issue. I take my brand new car into the Hyundai service department to have a look at the brakes. They see nothing wrong.
I was traveling in a parking lot, no more than 3mph and went to stop at the stop sign and my brakes locked up and I couldn't come to a complete stop for several feet. The car skid a few times before being able to fully stop. This was extremely scary, especially having a child in the car with me. Not only that, due to the car not stopping with only using my right foot, I went to also use my left foot to apply more pressure to the brake pedal, I ripped off a large portion of my toenail on my big, left toe. After doing a quick Google search, one of the first things that pops up is a class action lawsuit for this exact reason, that was established on May 9th of this year for 2023-2025 models. I have contacted the dealership and the manufacturer. This is an extremely concerning issue.
I was in a car accident on the freeway. Hit from behind. Non of the seat belts locked from the shoulder. Me and my 4 kids all suffered whiplash. The seat belt failed to restrain.
It happened on the way home from Manhattan [from Mount Sinai Hospital], near the ramp to 9W. The road was freshly milled (top layer removed before repaving), and I was going downhill. Traffic ahead was slowing, I had plenty of room, and it wasn’t even a sudden stop — I was just trying to gradually slow down when the car failed to respond properly. This isn’t some one-off. The behavior matches what I’ve seen others report: at low speeds, on rough or uneven surface, the ABS seems to engage when it shouldn’t, and instead of stopping, the car jerks forward. I’ve been able to replicate it a few times now — I more or less can sense when it might happen. To make matters worse, my pregnant wife was in the passenger seat when this happened. She injured her left shoulder during the crash, and the very next day she had to undergo an emergency C-section. Because her lower body was numbed for surgery, the pain in her shoulder made the whole experience much harder for her [btw, Mother and Baby are perfectly fine, thanks god]. This has left me shaken that a family SUV can have such a dangerous defect on the road. I am submitting this supplemental complaint regarding a repeated and dangerous brake failure in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. This is a follow-up to my original complaint submitted in July 2025. On multiple occasions while driving at low speeds (around 5 mph), including turning into driveways or approaching intersections, the braking system failed to respond properly. The brake pedal felt like it lost connection — similar to how a bike slips when its brake fails. The vehicle kept moving forward even while I was applying the brake. This nearly caused accidents several times. I believe the automatic emergency braking system (AEB) also failed to engage. One incident caused me to hit a fence, resulting in a small dent. Hyundai is now refusing to repair the safety systems under warranty because of that dent — even though the dent was a result of the brake malfunction. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai service center, and they refused to cover the issue under warranty or provide a loaner vehicle, leaving me to drive a potentially dangerous car. I also want to note that I have seen multiple recent NHTSA complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners describing similar brake issues. This suggests a wider pattern of brake failure, which must be urgently investigated before someone is seriously injured or worse. Hyundai has failed to properly investigate the issue or assist me in any meaningful way. This vehicle is still under warranty, and I am unable to safely use it while they delay responsibility.
While turning into a driveway at low speed (approximately 5 mph), I attempted to brake, but the brakes did not respond properly. The vehicle began to bump and resist braking, and failed to stop when expected, causing me to hit a fence. This model is equipped with automatic braking and collision avoidance systems that should have activated, but they failed to engage. This was a concerning failure for a brand-new vehicle equipped with advanced safety systems. Hyundai has not provided any clear answers or support. This appears to be a malfunction in the braking or electronic safety systems, and I believe it poses a serious risk to other drivers and pedestrians

The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH from making a right turn and attempting to stop the vehicle for a traffic light, with the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to stop. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
When exiting a paking lot, the Vechile did not Warn/Detect or di not Stop, while there was a 2 feet rock in the front of the bumper, whcih is 2 feet by 2 feet. The big rock hit exactly between the 2 sesonrs and no waring or didnt stop the vechile from colliding which damged the whole front bumper. I had my 2 kids and wife in the vechile, the only concern, I have is my wife drives the vechile all time, if it did not detect/warn/stop before hitting a big rock, what is the garentee it will save us from any major accidents. I took to the delar ship, havent got an appoitment for 2 weeks just to look at the sensors and they say to call Hundai Coustomr service and after 2 weeks of taking to Hundai customer service they are asking me to deal with the delaer ship. and they are pointing to each other while I get no response. and all they say is there is No way to pull the sensor information prior to tha accident.
On 9/15/26 I had activated my left turn signal and was entering the left hand turn lane. About halfway into the lane, the vehicle dashboard displayed “Emergency steering activated” and began forcing my steering wheel the opposite direction for no reason. There was no traffic and I was not crossing into somewhere I shouldn’t. This was extremely dangerous. I haven’t notified Hyundai. Weather was sunny and clear.

The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 60 MPH, the front windshield fractured in several places while attempting to swat a mosquito, resulting in eight crack lines across the glass. Since January 2026, the southern states Hyundai dealership in Raleigh, North Carolina has given me excuses or refused to provide service for the recalls on my car unless we use a paid for service through them. recently on XXX I brought my car in for one of two recalls. Two hours prior to my appointment I called the dealership to confirm everything was all set and the timeframe. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was told that the part for the seatbelt recall had come in and the dealership was unable to complete both recalls at the time of my appointment so I requested one to be completed and then I would come back for the other another day. The dealership refused they stated “I could leave my car and just go into work a little late the next day.” They stated “ we will not get paid if we complete only one and not the other” I was turned away from my appointment unless I would go into work late the next day and leave my car overnight without a rental. Southern states Hyundai in [XXX] has denied on multiple occasions since January 2026 any recalls to be completed and hassled us every time we come in for an oil change or a state inspection due to not completing the recalls, but they also don’t have the parts and will not communicate when parts are available. Following a dealer transfer assembly replacement under warranty on a 2025 Hyundai Palisade, technicians failed to perform a post-repair alignment and left the driveshaft unseated. The 2nd dealership we went to subsequently misdiagnosed the resulting suspension warping as 'tire overinflation' on June 5. As a direct result, my family unknowingly drove thousands of highway miles across state lines to MT and SD with an unseated drivetrain and a completely loose structural subframe bolt, presenting a severe risk of catastrophic suspension/steering failure at highway speeds. They misdiagnosed 3 times and claimed to do test drives each time, but each time we got in the vehicle, we heard the noises, they said they could not hear. Had a mechanic ride with to verify the noise, and only diagnosed the driveshaft unseated afterward, but not the subframe bolt, which the structural defect was finally confirmed on August 25, the 4th time at the 2nd dealer.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Hyundai Palisade vehicles. An insufficient seal on the controller for the electric oil pump may allow moisture to accumulate in the printed circuit board, which can cause an electrical short and result in a fire.
Remedy: Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the electric oil pump controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 11, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 278.
