As such, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Remedy: Honda will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will install an updated brake shift interlock blocking mechanism free of charge. Due to an incorrect marking, the connecting system may have been fitted to the wrong vehicle. In the event of a rear-end collision, the connecting system can come into contact with the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU). This creates a risk of short-circuit in the high-voltage grid, potentially leading the vehicle to catch fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

THERE ARE TWO CONCERNS. 1. THE IGNITION KEY BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT, ALMOST BURNING TEMPERATURE WHEN HELD IN BARE HAND. THERE SEEMS NO CORRELATIONS TO THE LENGTH OF TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN OR THE OUTSIDE CONDITIONS. THIA DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. 2. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF HAVE RECEIVED PAINFUL "STATIC ELECTRIC" SHOCKS WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. THIS CAN HAPPEN EVEN IN WARM WEATHER. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THE SHOCKING AND THAT THE KEY GETTING HOT IS NOT A PROBLEM.

WE RETURNED FROM SHOPPING AND PARKED CAR IN DRIVEWAY (APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREE INCLINE). WENT BEHIND TO UNLOAD BACK AND THE CAR ROLLED BACK ON US ABOUT 4-5 FEET AT LEAST. WE HAVE SINCE BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS TWICE. THE CAR IS FULLY IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE ONLY INJURY (THANK GOD!) WAS MY BACK WHICH WAS JUST THROWN OUT A LITTLE DUE TO TRYING TO GET OUT FROM BEHIND THE CAR BEFORE IT RAN OVER ME. MY HUSBAND TWISTED HIS KNEE A LITTLE, BUT APPEARS OKAY OTHERWISE. BECAUSE IT IS SUNDAY, I CANNOT REACH ANYONE TO REPORT TO THE DEALER (BOMMARITO HONDA), BUT HAVE SENT THEM A MESSAGE DEMANDING THEY TOW THE CAR AND GET ME A LOANER IMMEDIATELY. NEITHER OF US WILL GET IN THIS CAR AGAIN. I'M VERY CONCERNED THERE MAY BE OTHERS AT SERIOUS RISK RIGHT NOW! *TR

This honda cr-v had a sudden surge of acceleration while the brake pedal was pressed. The brake pedal was stepped off to put car into drive, but then the car suddenly went forward over 30 mph and crashed into a fence and tree in the driveway straight across from it about 5 feet away. The airbag did not immediately deploy, but deployed a minute later. The entire front end of the car was destroyed. The driver tried to press the brake, shift into neutral and even turn the key of the car off to shut it off but none of those worked. This car was purchased at carmax in May 2025 and had no issues per them. There were no warning lights on the car prior to this.

ON 11/30/15 OUR 2013 HONDA CRV WAS TAKEN TO FOX HONDA IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI TO HAVE THE DRIVER AIR BAG AND POWER LOCK RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED. ON 12/15/15 MY DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF HER SLAMMED ON IT'S BREAKS BUT THE TRAILER LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING SO THE CRV SQUARELY IMPACTED THE REAR OF THE TRAILER WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT. THE RADIATOR, ENGINE AND FRAME WERE DAMAGED SO THE CAR WAS TOTALED. WE FILED COMPLAINT #04347205 WITH HONDA EXPLAINING THAT THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER AND THE BODY SHOP WORKERS BOTH BELIEVED THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. AFTER MY 3RD CALL, THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVES WERE STILL TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THERE ARE SEPARATE SENSORS AND THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY ONE AIR BAG COULD GO OFF AND NOT THE OTHER. I EXPLAINED THAT WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT BADLY INJURED, I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE COULD BE A BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THEIR AIR BAGS AND I WISHED THEY WOULD TAKE IT SERIOUSLY ENOUGH TO INSPECT THE CAR TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE ELSE ISN'T INJURED OR EVEN KILLED IF THERE IS A GENERAL DEFECT.

ON 2/10/2014, AROUND 8:50 AM EST I WAS ALONE AND DRIVING TO THE OFFICE WHEN MY CAR SKIDDED AND I LOST CONTROL. DUE TO THE MOMENTUM THE CAR HAD GAINED, IT WENT INTO A FREE SPIN. THOUGH THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH AWD AND ABS, IT STILL COULD NOT CORRECT THE SKID AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL. IT DASHED AGAINST A TREE ON THE PATHWAY FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IMPACT RESULTED IN DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY, HOWEVER IT EXPLODED INSTEAD OF INFLATING. THIS INCIDENT HAS RESULTED IN INJURIES TO MY HAND, NECK AND BACK. RECENTLY I HAVE HEARD RECALLS FROM HONDA RELATED TO FAULTY AIR BAGS, HOWEVER DID NOT FIND ANY OPEN RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE...UPDATED 02/25/15 *BF UPDATED 9/22/2017*CN

On February 5, I was parking my vehicle in a parking lot space. The vehicle lurched forward and hit another parked car causing $925 in damages to that car. I put it into Park and then Reverse and it lurched backwards. I did not have any control over the car. I took it to the North Shore Honda dealer in Glen Head, NY and they were unable to find anything wrong but I know there is a problem and I am very nervous driving the car. There were no warning lamps before or after the incident. I have read on the internet of other people experiencing uncontrolled acceleration of their vehicle.

PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY AND WAS A COUPLE OF FEET AWAY FROM THE GARAGE DOOR, GOING ONLY ONE OR TWO MPH,PUT FOOT ON BRAKE TO STOP AND SUDDENLY THE CAR LURCH FORWARD,PRESS AS HARD AS I COULD ON BRAKE PEDAL,BUT CAR KEPT MOVING FORWARD TILL IT HIT GARAGE DOOR,THEN EVERYTHING STOPPED. YOU CAN SEE BY THE MARKS ON THE DRIVEWAY THAT THE FRONT TIRES WERE SPINNING FORWARD WHILE THE REAR TIRES WERE LOCKED ( BECAUSE I HAD HARD PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL) AND SLID A FEW FEET, WE HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE CAR AND DRIVEWAY AND WILL TRY TO SEND TO YOU. I AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR PARKING LOT OR SIMILAR, IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING
