Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain air bag inflator replacement service parts that may have been installed as part of a theft or collision repair. The parts include certain passenger-side air bag inflators designed to fit Infiniti 2002-2003 QX4, 2006-2010 M35 and M45; Nissan 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, and both driver and passenger-side inflators designed to fit 2007-2012 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles. Please see Nissan's recall report for the specific part numbers. These replacement inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the inflators as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 14, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

(Nissan) is recalling certain 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, 2002-2004 Pathfinder, 2007-2011 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback, 2001-2004 Infiniti I30 and I35, 2002-2003 Inifiniti QX4, 2003-2008 Infiniti FX35 and FX45 and 2006-2010 M35 and M45 vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated, frontal passenger air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators with alternate desiccated inflators, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 888-737-9511 or Infiniti customer service at 888-810-3715.

The passenger air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation due to exposure to humidity and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began July 25, 2018. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Versa Sedan and 2007-2012 Versa Hatchback vehicles. The affected vehicles have a driver frontal air bag inflator that may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to moderate absolute humidity, temperatures, and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the subject inflator with a new one manufactured by a different supplier, free of charge. The recall began on March 9, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Nissan (Nissan North America, Inc.) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 Nissan Versa vehicles manufactured May 8, 2006, to November 12, 2012, that were sold or ever registered in the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Road salt may corrode the front coil springs, possibly resulting in the coil springs fracturing.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace both front coil springs, free of charge. The recall began on February 2, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
ON CERTAIN HATCHBACK VEHICLES, THE TERMINALS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR HARNESS CONNECTOR MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONTINUITY CAUSING THE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONNECTOR FOR THE SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR HARNESS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 18, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 135, 'PASSENGER CAR BRAKE SYSTEMS.' THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR CAP IS MISSING PART OF THE REQUIRED BRAKE FLUID WARNING.
Remedy: NEW BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR CAPS WILL BE MAILED TO VEHICLE OWNERS ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION. THE LETTERS WILL INSTRUCT OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE THEIR OWN BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR CAP TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR THE REPAIR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 10, 2006. THE CONTACT SUFFERED GLASS PARTICLES ENTERING THE FINGER, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, FOUR PASSENGERS SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES AND THE DRIVER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. 2007 NISSAN VERSA TIE ROD SNAPPED PULLING THE STEERING TO THE RIGHT. *TS THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN SUDDENLY SHE COULD NO LONGER CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND SUBSEQUENTLY THEY SLAMMED INTO A CEMENT WALL SIDE WAYS.*JB
While driving, I was going about 25mph, but was coming to an intersection. Before getting to the intersection the light was blinking yellow due to the time so i started to slow down so i could yield through the light. At this time, my son who was 3yrs 2mo old (at the time) was in the backseat in his carseat. As I gradually stepped on the brake pedal, I then felt a big slam, and my face smacked the airbag and dust flew all over my vehicle, and son in the backseat who didnt have an airbag deploy. As I came to realize what happened my son was in the backseat screaming and i had smoke coming from my hood. I hit a city light pole outside of a 7-Eleven store. I was unsure of what happened that caused the accident, but after it happened I got out of my car in complete shock of what hit me. my son was in pullups, and the gel stuff inside the diaper had flew all over my car as it caused the seatbelt to tighten around his legs. I grabbed my son out of the car, because it was smoking and the first thing I should have done was not moved. When i got out of car to see what hit me, i stayed on the sidewalk and waited 35mins for a cop, so by the time the cop came, who never called ems, told me i was being cited and they took my vehicle to the impound lot. The car then was considered totalled and because I was in an accident, gasoline was leaking and they said it was considered hazardous. I didn't nor did my child receive medical attention because we did not have medical insurance at the time but the officer didnt call ems. I then had to pay to get my things from the vehicle from the impound lot, and they were treating me very poorly about what i could grab and what had to left with it. I also had to pay Court Costs, and fines and due to this accident, i have suffered trauma, and my son im sure has also. My body has major pains as well as my legs, hips, neck and severe lower back pain. I am unable to care for my child as he needs at times because my body hurts so bad, i cant help.

THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND KNOCKED THE CONTACT UNCONSCIOUS. AS A RESULT, HE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. BOTH THE DRIVER AND CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK AT ALL. NISSAN STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL THE CONTACT BACK, BUT HE HAS YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. Seatbelt on driver's side didn't lock. Seatbelt on passenger side did lock no one riding there. A deer jumped right in front of me going 55mph air came out but I didn't get any powder burns and seatbelt pulled all the way out. I'm a small woman lucky I didn't go through the windshield.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHEN IT UNEXPECTEDLY STARTED SHAKING AND SLIDING/SKIDDING FROM SIDE TO SIDE ENDING IN A CRASH. FURTHERMORE, MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAGS RESULTED IN SEVERE CUTS, BRUISES AND OTHER INJURIES TO FACE AND OTHER BODY PARTS.

THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,400.
I WAS DRIVING ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE SOUTH BY EXIT 54 WHILE RAINING REALLY HARD, THE LANE I WAS HAD BRAND NEW ASPHALT AND MY CAR HYDROPLANNED AND HIT THE WALL REALLY HARD BY IT SELF THE SPUN AND HIT ANOTHER CAR HARD AT 40MPH THEN OTHER CARS HIT I HAD A TOTAL LOST AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK AT ALL. CAR WAS AT A DEAD STOP IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WENT TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY...AND AS ALWAYS I STARTED THE CAR WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE...PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE...BEGAN TO LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO COAST BACK AGAIN AS USUAL...WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR SHOT BACK LIKE A BULLET...TRAVELED ABOUT 45 TO 50 FEET AND SLAMMED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF A PARKED PANEL TRUCK. THE CAR THEN SHOT FORWARD AGAIN LIKE A BULLET AND SLAMMED INTO A FENCE POLE THAT WAS SET IN CEMENT. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IN SHOCK....A NEIGHBOR CAME RUNNING OVER...I TOLD HIM THAT ALL I DID WAS PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THEN LOST COMPLETE CONTROL. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING...MY NEIGHBOR WENT TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE...AND SAID..."THE CAR IS STILL IN REVERSE." HE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. A POLICE REPOPRT WAS FILED. THE CAR WAS REMOVED TO A LOT FOR INSPECTION. THE INSPECTION DID NOT REVEAL ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. AS FAR AS NISSAN WAS CONCERNED THE CASE ENDED THERE. THEY NEVER INTERVIEWED ANY WITNESSES. THE PANEL TRUCK OWNER WAS JUST ABOUT TO GO TO HIS TRUCK...HE HEARD THE LOUD RACING SOUND OF THE ENGINE...AS DID MY DAUGHTER WHO SAW THE WHOLE THING... SHE WAS SITTING AT THE DINING ROOM TABLE WITH FULL VIEW FROM A WINDOW...SHE THOUGHT I HAD A HEART ATTACK. AND THE NEIGHBOR WHO WINESSED THE GEAR IN REVERSE WAS NEVER CONTACTED. IN LIGHT OF THE CASES OF "UNEXPLAINED" SUDDEN ACCELERATION I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NISSAN IS SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS IN THIS CASE. I CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIOUS LET THIS STAND WITHOUT AT LEAST MAKING A RECORD OF THE INCIDENT. BY THE WAY THE CAR WAS TOTALED. I WOULD BE CURIOUS TO SEE A REPORT FROM AN ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION EXPERT AS TO THE SPEED THE CAR REACHED FROM A DEAD STOP....TRAVELEING ABOUT 45 FEET..... THAT WOULD CAUSE THE AMOUNT OF DAMGE DONE TO THAT CAR. I WOULD HAVE TO BE STANDING ON THE GAS PEDAL...COMMON SENSE SAYS THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THANK YOU. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT A NISSAN VERSA 2007 SIX MONTHS AGO AND TODAY WHEN I WAS COMING FROM LUNCH AND WAS IN THE PARKING LOT TRYING TO PARK AND WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 6 MPH. I TRIED TO BRAKE , BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPONSED AND I HIT THE CAR IN THE FRONT. I AM COMPLETELY SHAKEN UP ABOUT THE INCIDENT, IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE FREEWAY OR A RED LIGHT, I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY THIS CAR. *JB
BRAKES SEEMED LATENT IN COLLISION, HAD TO PUMP BRAKES ON NEW CAR TO AVOID ACCIDENT, 3 TIMES. BRAKES SUFFICIENTLY LOCKED, BUT TOO LATE TO AVOID COLLISION. SKID MARKS FROM 120 FEET AT 50 MPH IMPACTED VEHICLE AT 35 MPH. DRY CONDITIONS SUNNY DAY. 65 FAHRENHEIT. I BELIEVE THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT AND WORKED PROPERLY TO AVOID COLLISION. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO OWNING A VEHICLE MADE BY NISSAN. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN SEPT.2006. NEVER HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS AND HAVE KEPT IT SERVICED, ON OCT 02, 2020 I WENT TO STORE AND BACK HOME ABOUT 8 MILES TOTAL, PARKED IN YARD, APPROX. 10 MINUTES LATER ALARM WENT OFF AND KEY FOB WOULD NOT DISSARM IT SO I OPENED THE HOOD AND THE WHOLE FIREWALL WAS ON FIRE, AND FLAMES BELLOWING FROM UNDERNEATH, I IMMEDIATELY RAN AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUSHER ANDD COMPLETELY USED THE LARGE CANNISTER TO PUT FIRE OUT. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AND VERY SCAREY AND UPSETTING THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN FROM A PARKED CAR.
NO RECALL. SOMEHOW CAR ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE, BUT THE HEAT ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON OR ANY WARNING LIGHTS. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND MY HORN STARTING GOING OFF. THE WHOLE ENGINE AND THEN FRONT PART OF THE CAR BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, GOING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 30 MPH.

VALUE OF CLAIM DID NOT WARRANT HIRING ORIGIN AND CAUSE EXPERT HOWEVER PHOTOS SEEM TO SHOW FIRE ORIGINATING IN LEFT REAR INTERIOR POSSIBLY IN HEADLINER NEAR C PILLAR. DAMAGE SUGGEST WIRING DEFECT. VEHICLE HAD NO HISTORY OF COLLISION DAMAGE. VEHICLE HAD NO HISTORY OF WIRING REPAIR. *TR
