THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG AND PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHEST, ABDOMEN, AND NECK. THE CONTACT ALSO SUSTAINED LEFT AND RIGHT LEG AND KNEE SCRATCHES AND BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER AND REAR MIDDLE SEAT PASSENGER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE ALSO SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION, BUT THE EXTENT OF THEIR INJURIES WAS UNKNOWN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. MY VEHICLE STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE STRAIGHT-ON, BROADSIDE IN A "T-BONE" ACCIDENT AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A TWO-LANE, 45 MPH ROADWAY ON A CLEAR, DRY, SUNNY DAY WITH NO TIME TO APPLY MY BRAKES AND NEITHER THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG NOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SPEED OF THE OTHER VEHICLE THEN CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BE DRAGGED ACROSS THE ONCOMING LANE AND UP A FIVE FOOT EMBANKMENT. ONLY THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON IMPACT. THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG LATER DEPLOYED WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS BEING TOWED. MY VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE OTHER VEHICLE'S TWO DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS WERE PUSHED IN PAST THE FRAME OF THE CAR. THE DRIVER'S AND FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS EXPLODED SEVERELY INJURING ME AND MY DAUGHTER. I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY TURNING LEFT WHEN A SPEEDING VAN HIT MY CAR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I AND MY DAUGHTER BECAME UNCONSCIOUS ON IMPACT BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR EXPLODED CAUSING US SEVERE HEAD, CHEST, NECK AND BACK INJURIES. WE WERE TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT LAKE NORMAN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN MOORESVILLE, NC, AND THEN TRANSFERRED TO ATRIUM HEALTH LEVEL 1 TRAUMA CENTER IN CHARLOTTE, NC.
VEHICLE IN MOTION, SEATBELT RETRACTOR DID NOT SAFELY PERFORM. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT WHERE I REARENDED A UTILITY TRUCK ON A RESIDENTIAL ROADWAY (TWO LANE). THERE WAS A CITY RECYCLE TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE UTILITY TRUCK WHICH. ABRUPTLY STOPPED. AS A RESULT, AUTO DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY TO MYSELF.
100 % BRAKE FAILURE. 45 MPH,MODERATE TRAFFIC, 6:30PM THURSDAY MAY 7TH 2015, DRY PAVEMENT AND APPROACHING TRAFFIC THAT WHICH MADE AN ABRUPT STOP AHEAD. STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL, PEDAL FLUTTERED AS IF ANTI LOCKING BRAKE ACTIVITY WAS BE ACTIVATED. CAR CONTINUED TO FREE WHEEL FORWARD, I STEPPED HARDER ON BRAKE PEDAL AND PEDAL BEGAN PUSHING BACK TO ME. THE HARDER I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL THE MORE IT PUSHED BACK (THERE WAS NO BRAKING ACTION).THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP , AND HAD ENOUGH DISTANCE TO STOP (I HAD A MINIMUM FOLLOWING DISTANCE OF TWO CAR SPACES) BUT BRAKES FAILED TO DO SO WHICH CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS SUCH AS DODGE CHARGER 2006 SXT/CHEVY MALIBU 2009 TO NAME A FEW AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I'M THE FIRST OWNER OF THIS CAR AND THIS IS THE FIRST HYUNDAI I HAVE EVER BOUGHT.
ON OCTOBER 25, ME AND MY WIFE WERE TRAVELING ON A LOCAL STREET AND WERE BLINDSIDED BY A CAR. THE CAR STRUCK US ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE FORCE OF THAT HIT CAUSED US TO PLOW INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER WALL HEAD ON. AT THIS TIME, THE FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HOWEVER MY WIFE'S AIRBAG, THE PASSENGER SIDE, EXPLODED IMMEDIATELY CAUSING VISIBLE BURNS TO MY WIFE'S NECK AND CHEST. UPON EMERGENCY ROOM EXAMS AND FOLLOW-UP DOCTOR EVALUATIONS, THE DIAGNOSES WAS THAT MY WIFE SUSTAINED SECOND-DEGREE CHEMICAL BURNS TO HER NECK AND CHEST, WHICH WILL REQUIRE SKIN GRAFTS FROM A PLASTIC SURGEON. *TR

THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

The contact was not able to stop the vehicle and had to jump out to exit. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an unknown repair was completed. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made abnormal sounds while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there were metal shavings in the engine oil. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the steering wheel loosened up inadvertently and she lost control of the vehicle. The contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle failed to respond, causing the vehicle to crash into two occupied vehicles. The air bags deployed. The contact sustained a seat belt mark, and soreness on the neck and shoulders. The contact also sustained numbness in the right hand. The contact later sought medical assistance. The occupants of the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was awaiting to be totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V121000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), however, the Ford dealer he purchased the vehicle from informed him that she would need to contact a Hyundai dealer to schedule a recall repair appointment. The contact stated while his wife was parking the vehicle in the driveway, the gas pedal was not depressed however the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into the garage door. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained injuries on the right knee but did not seek medical assistance. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER BODY WAS SORE DUE TO THE IMPACT, HOWEVER, SHE DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING. THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE OTHER DRIVERS INJURIES WERE UNKNOWN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. LOST CONTROL OF CAR ON MINOR ICE PATCH ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN IT FINALLY CAUGHT TRACTION, IT WAS SLUNG INTO THE SIDE OF A SEMI TRUCK TRAVELING AT 75 MPH, BUT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED, THE FRONT END WAS DESTROYED, AND THE CAR WAS TOTALED. CAN OBTAIN CRASH REPORT AND BETTER PHOTOS IF NEEDED, JUST DON'T HAVE THEM ON ME AT THE MOMENT.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Sonata vehicles. The low pressure fuel hose that connects the low pressure fuel pump to the direct injection fuel pump may crack over time, due to heat generated within the engine compartment.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the low pressure fuel hose, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 10, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 227. This recall replaces NHTSA recall number 20V-121. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 20V-121 that did not receive a replacement fuel hose will need to have this new recall remedy performed.

If no damage or leaking is found, heat-protective tape will be installed. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began August 10, 2020. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2013-2014 Santa Fe Sport vehicles previously repaired under recall numbers 15V-568 and 17V-226. The high pressure fuel pipe that connects to the fuel pump outlet may have been damaged, misaligned, or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, allowing fuel to leak from the pipe.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pipe, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2019. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's recall number for this recall is 180.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles previously repaired under recall campaign 17V-152. The seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will again verify the connection between the seat belt linkage and the pretensioner and additionally install a warning label to prevent future seat belt linkage detachment, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 169.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Sonata and Santa Fe Sport vehicles. Machining errors during the engine manufacturing process may cause premature bearing wear within the engine.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.
