The wrong software for the power steering control module (PSCM) may have been installed. The steering wheel can perform autonomous movements when the driver attempts to steer, as the electric power steering (EPAS) provides unintended steering assistance. Unintended steering assistance may lead to loss of control over the vehicle while driving and thus to an increased risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The incorrect calibration of the power steering control module (PSCM) could lead the steering wheel to oscillate without warning (alternating clockwise/counterclockwise) during steering due to the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) providing unintended steering assist. This unintended steering assist could lead to loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Corrosion of the front seatbelt pretensioner cable may cause it to weaken or break, reducing seatbelt effectiveness and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
An unsecured nut may cause the clutch pedal to fail, preventing the driver from changing gear and causing the engine to stall. If the clutch line is lowered, it may melt on hot components and brake fluid may leak and ignite. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
As a result of a polarity error in the secondary digital torque sensor in the steering gear, if the primary steering torque sensor fail, the steering wheel may oscillate when the driver is steering. This can lead to a loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

I WAS COASTING TO RED LIGHT WHEN IT FELT LIKE MY CAR JUST WENT WITHOUT ME ACCELERATING MY SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH I WAS T BONED. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH IN MID MORNING TRAFFIC. I WENT THROUGH A TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON A CITY STREET AT WHICH TIME MY ENGINE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RPM. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR STOP IT EVEN THOUGH I HAD DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I DID LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, SPUN AROUND TOTALLY MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER AND THEN STOPPING AGAINST GUIDE WIRE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING WHEN THE CAR STOPPED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND I WAS TRANSPORTED BY EMS TO THE ER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND SHOULDER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V319000 AND 16V384000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,500.
TAKATA RECALL. IN THE EVENT OF THE CRASH, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS DRIVING IN A FOOT OF SNOW IN A MALL PARKING LOT GOING THE PARKING LOT SPEED LIMIT AND AS I WAS COMING TO A YIELD TO TURN, I RUN OVER THE CURB THAT WAS COVERED IN THE SNOW. THE CURB WAS ABOUT 3 FEET ACROSS AND I DID NOT CLEAR THE DISTANCE SO I WAS STUCK ON THE CURB TOP. THE CAR SHUT OFF DURING THIS EVENT AND I HIT MY HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE DAMAGE AS SEEN IN THE PHOTO PROVIDED BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT I HAD EQUIPPED PROVIDED NO SAFETY EITHER. THE END RESULT IS: AIRBAG DASH LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND THE FUNCTIONS OF THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT OPERATE. MODERATE TO SLIGHTLY SEVERE CONCUSSION.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT CAUSED THE CONTACTS VEHICLE TO CRASH HEAD-ON INTO UTILITY CABLES. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND WAS BEING INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 39,000.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON FEB 2, 2010. MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY BECAUSE MULLINAX FORD CO. HERE IN FLA. PUT SEATCOVERS OVER CLOTH SEATS. SO ACTUALLY THE AIRBAG HAD TO DEPLOY OUT OF TWO SEATS. I HAD PAID $950.00 FOR LEATHER SEATS NOT SEATCOVERS. THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT REPAIRED MY CAR WILL NOT PUT THE SEATCOVER BACK ON SO NOW I HAVE SEATCOVERS ON ALL THE SEATS EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE. *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH SENSOR FAULTS PRIOR TO THE FIRST INCIDENT. AROUND MAY 22 I STARTED EXPERIENCING WATER LEAKING UNDER MY DASH BOARD FIRST WHEN I THRU A CAWASH. THEN IT RAINED AND WATER CAME AGAIN. THE TIRE PRESSURE FAULT AGAIN CAME ON AND I WAS OVER DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE SO I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE TECH ADVISED ME TO GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ADVISED ME THE LEAK WAS A DEFROST EVAPORATOR AND THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS BAD AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY IF EXTENDED. HE SAID I NEEDED TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE WATER DAMAGE GUY TO CLEAN UP THE MILDEW AND MOLD DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHICH WOULD COST 400 NOT TO MENTION OTHER PARTS AND LABOR. SO I WAS UNDER THE UNDERSTANDING THAT AS LONG AS I DIDNT USE THE DEFROST EVAPORATOR THE LEAK WOULD BE CONTAINED. SO I USED IT ONLY ON SUNDAYS AND ONE THURSDAY FROM MAY 22 TO JULY AND HAD ONLY PUT ABOUT 700 MILES ON THE CAR. THE WEEK OF JULY 19TH WE HAD A TON OF RAIN AND I NOTICED THE FLOOR BOARD WAS SATURATED WITH WATER AND THE HUMIDITY IN THE CABIN MADE THE PANELS ON THE DOORS START TO PEEL AWAY AND THERE WAS CONDENSATION ON THE INSIDE OF MY WINDOWS AND DASH. SO I SOPPED THE WATER UP WITH MULTIPLE TOWELS. I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED AT THE TIME AND WAS WORRIED ABOUT HOW I WOULD HANDLE MYSELF AT THE DEALER. THAT NIGHT AT 235 AM ON JULY 19TH A POLICE OFFICER ADVISED ME THAT A NEIGHBOR HAD CALLED ABOUT AN ALARM GOING OFF AND THAT THEY SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. SO I COULDNT GET MY ALARM DEVICE TO WORK AND STARTED THE CAR THINKING IT WOULD STOP. WELL IT DIDNT, SO THE SHERIFF AND I AGREED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR THE CAR WAS EXPERIENCING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WHICH TRIGGERED MY HORN. AS I GOT TO THE HOOD YOU COULD SMELL FRIED WIRING BUT I DIDNT SEE ANY SMOKE MYSELF. WITH THESE CARS FROM 2005 WHY ISNT THIS A RECALL, DOES IT HAVE TO COST A LIFE TO MAKE A CHANGE? *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2009 MUSTANG AND AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, HE SLOWLY ACCELERATED AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED QUICKLY ON ITS OWN. HE SAID THE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, HE TRIED PUSHING BRAKE AND IT WAS NOT STOPPING THE CAR. IT SENT HIM THROUGH ANOTHER INTERSECTION, HE ENGAGED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO NO AVAIL. LUCKILY HIS CAR WENT THROUGH AN AREA OF SOGGY GRASS THAT HELPED SLOW THE CAR DOWN, AND CAME TO A STOP BY RUNNING INTO HEDGES AND RESTING NEXT TO A BRICK CHURCH. HE DESCRIBED HEARING THE RPM'S REVVING UP ALONG WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. HE ALSO DESCRIBED THE STEERING WHEEL AS "LOCKING UP".
RANDOM ACCELERATION. BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPACE , PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO MOVE FORWARD. ACCELERATION INCREASED ON ITS OWN. REMOVED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR, PRESSED THE BRAKE. ACCELERATION CONTINUED TO INCREASE, HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL HARD.. ACCELERATOR CONTINUED TO INCREASE ON ITS OWN. (COULDN'T STOP VEHICLE) HIT A CURB AND FLIPPED THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IN APRIL PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V046000 (AIR BAGS) AT GALPIN FORD (LOCATED AT 1000 SANDRETTO DR, PRESCOTT, AZ 86305, (877) 826-2935). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 FORD MUSTANG ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET 30 MPH, WHEN I TURNED A CORNER (10 MPH) I ATTEMPTED TO HONK MY HORN AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED, MY CAR ACCELERATED WITH A HARD RIGHT STRAIGHT INTO A DUMPSTER DAMAGING THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR 6 MONTHS BEFORE THIS ACCIDENT AND THE HORN HAD NOT WORKED, WE DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG AT THIS TIME. THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE BECAUSE THE CAR BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE, THE IMPACT WAS SO FORCEFUL IT BENT THE FRAME OF THE CAR THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE IS ESTIMATED AT $7000.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V319000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG HEADING TO THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR ACCELERATOR CAUSED THE CAR TO SPEED UP AND I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR. I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN GOING ON THE FREEWAY OR DRIVING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND INTO A POLE TO STOP IT.
I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AFTER RETURNING FROM THE STORE. AS I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN TO PULL IN THE GARAGE THE CAR ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO THE FRONT OF MY GARAGE. THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP BUT CONTINUED TO PUSH FORWARD. I HAVE SKID MARKS THE WHOLE WAY UP MY DRIVE INTO MY GARAGE FROM THE CAR BEING PUSHED FORWARD BY THE FRONT TIRES..... I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS THEIR WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR FORD MUSTANGS 2005-2010 IF PURCHASED IN SELECT STATES, MINE BEING FLORIDA, WHICH WAS PART OF THIS LAWSUIT. (WAS REPORTED IN USATODAY FOR 3/23/13) I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION FROM FORD REGARDING THIS. MY CAR'S FRONT END AND ENTIRE LEFT DRIVER SIDE IS DESTROYED AS WELL AS MY GARAGE. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED MY SON'S BIKE TO COME THROUGH MY HOUSE. *TR
MY SON WAS PULLING THE CAR INTO THE GARAGE WHICH IS A SHORT DISTANCE FROM DRIVEWAY INTO THE GARAGE. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO A HIGH SPEED. HE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP. HE RAMMED INTO A WEIGHT MACHINE AND CABINET IN THE GARAGE WHICH STOPPED THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO PARK BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING. THERE WAS FRONT END DAMAGE ACROSS THE ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT GO OFF. THIS INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE FORD MOTOR CO AND I REQUESTED AN INSPECTOR TO COME AND EXAMINE THE VEHICLE'S GAS PEDAL, BRAKE OVERRIDE AND AIR BAGS FOR DEFECTS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE. I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE JUST THE BODY WORK DONE AND THEN BE PUT BACK INTO THE CAR AND HAVE THE SITUATION HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
