I WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT ON SUNDAY OF LAST WEEK. WHILE IN THE RIGHT-HAND LANE OF INTERSTATE 95 IN BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, MY 2008 MUSTANG WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY AN APPARENTLY SPEEDING MOTORIST. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH AND ACCELERATING TO ACHIEVE PACE WITH THE OTHER CARS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR, AND PROPELLED FORWARD STRIKING A MINIVAN IN FRONT TO ME. I WAS PUSHED OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE SEA GRAPE STAND, AND THEN STRUCK ONE OF THE POSTS ON A HIGHWAY INFORMATION SIGN. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. (SEE THE PHOTO) NEITHER AIRBAG IN THE CAR DEPLOYED. I HAD RECEIVED NOTICES FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT MY CAR HAD TAKADA AIRBAGS IN IT, AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. I WAS NOTIFIED APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG WERE AVAILABLE. SO, I WENT TO THE AUTO NATION FORD DEALER AND GARAGE LOCATED ON LINTON BLVD, AND INTERSTATE 95 IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA TO HAVE THE BAG REPLACED. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF IN THE MORNING AND PICKED IT UP LATE IN THE AFTERNOON, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BAG HAD BEEN REPLACED. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR EVER SINCE WITH THE BELIEF THAT I HAD A NON-TAKADA FUNCTIONING DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. NEITHER THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED DURING THE ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, EACH OF THE OTHER THREE VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT HAD FULL DEPLOYMENT OF THEIR AIR BAGS.IT'S OBVIOUS THAT THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT IN MY CAR BY THE AUTO NATION FORD DEALERSHIP WAS DEFICIENT AND DID NOT MEET CRASH STANDARDS FOR DEPLOYMENT. I AM REQUESTING THAT YOUR AGENCY INVESTIGATE THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS AND THE INSTALLATION TECHNIQUES BEING USED BY FORD TO REPLACE AIR BAGS IN THE FORD CARS BEING RECALLED FOR AIR BAG REPLACEMENT.
DRIVING DOWN MARTIN LUTHER KING DR. WHILE APPROACHING A CURVE AT 45 MPH VEHICLE STABILITY AND BRAKES GAVE OUT. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INCORRECTLY AND CAUSED INJURIES TO MYSELF AND A PASSENGER. SEAT BELTS ARE ALSO NO LONGING WORKING. BRAKES ARE
Accident after side swiping cattle guard, flew off the road at 70mph, landing roughly, and bouncing off desert terrain, trying to control crash outcome, realign no brakes, and no way to slow down vehicle, except no acceleration, and turned away from homes and power poles, to eventually slam into a a higher terrain, until complete stop. My repaired airbags didn't deploy, and at that speed, my passenger side wheels were shattered, tires flat, face hit the steering wheel and windshield, my knees hit dashboard, arms bounced off off everything the seat belt couldn't protect me from. Because of airbag failure to deploy, I ended up with 2 fractures, T9 and L1, 6 lose teeth making front teeth unable to use, and 2 cervical discs pushing into spinal column. I have Medicaid for insurance, and they will not do the surgery on my neck, so I have permanent nerve damage to my arms and hands, and the rest of my life to avoid any falls, or sudden injury to these areas so I can exist as a cripple, all because the safety equipment mandated by you, failed or was non existent. I had basic motor insurance coverage and no medical for me. What do you propose I do, with what's left of my car and my body parts, to continue existing in this life? Why have safety regulations when the equipment is knowingly defective, and costly, with no recourse in case something happens, before you as owner, are aware of it. I'm so pissed off to discover I own a vehicle, or paid for vehicle, that tried to kill me.
SEPT 14 2013. 1400 ON US 59S I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE, AND A FUNERAL PRECESSION WAS EXITING RIGHT SO WE SLIGHTLY DECELERATED AND SWITCHED TO THE MIDDLE LANE. AS I ACCELERATED TO ACQUIRE THE HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK; IMMEDIATELY I KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND TOLD FIANCE TO CALL 911. I BEGAN TO CONTINUOUSLY PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH MY ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT. IT SLOWED THE CAR TO APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND IF I TRIED TO LIFT MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE EVEN MORE. ON THE PHONE WITH 911 --207PM-- WE WERE TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I MOVED MY CAR TO THE LEFT LANE AND THEN TO THE LEFT SHOULDER LANE. (DURING THIS TIME I WAS CONTINUOUSLY TRYING TO BRAKE AND SHIFT MY CAR TO NEUTRAL BUT IT WOULDN'T BUDGE; STILL BRAKING WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL, I TRIED TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE) FIANCE QUICKLY RE-DIALED 911 TO GIVE OUR LOCATION AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OUR CONTROL AND THAT THIS WAS AN IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY. THE 911 OPERATOR TOLD MY FIANCE THAT A POLICE DISPATCHER WOULD BE CALLING HER BACK, TO WHICH SHE REPLIED WE NEEDED HELP IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE WE WERE APPROACHING ON SLOWER TRAFFIC. VERY QUICKLY AFTER, THE LEFT SHOULDER LANE ENDED SO I WAS FORCED TO MOVE THE CAR INTO THE FARTHEST LEFT LANE. IT SOON BECAME APPARENT THAT WE WOULD NOT AVOID A COLLISION, AND MY CAR HIT THE BACK OF A YELLOW SCION TC GOING APPROXIMATELY 100MPH. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED RIGHT AWAY, MAKING IT UNCLEAR IF WE HIT ANY OTHER CARS. THE FINAL IMPACT THAT STOPPED OUR CAR WAS A CONCRETE BARRIER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. MY FIANCE AND I IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE CAR AND STEPPED AWAY WHILE WE SIGNALED FOR HELP. WITHOUT A DOUBT OUR LIVES COULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM US DUE TO THIS EVENT. *TR
I PURCHASE THIS CAR FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP SIX MONTHS AGO. ON 04/08/2012 ABOUT 1:50 AM I WAS HEADING HOME FROM AIRMOUNT, NY. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT OFF A WINDING ROAD GOING DOWN HILL. AS I WAS DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK OUT OF NO WHERE. THEN BRAKES STARTED TO SHAKE .I KEPT PRESSING ON THE BRAKES AND BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK AND FAIL. AT THAT POINT I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. THE AIRBAG ON DRIVER SIDE DEPLOY, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE NEVER DEPLOY IT FAIL. *TR

Driving approximately 20 mph, on a smooth road, in a retirement community, the drivers seat airbag explosively inflated without warning. The seatbelts are locked and unusable, the seat bolster is shredded, the driver door panel is disconnected as is the exterior rocker cover. I am afraid to drive the car in fear of the other air bags exploding while driving.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while the son was driving approximately 40 MPH and pressing the brake pedal to reduce speed, the engine began to rev and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The driver observed that the accelerator pedal had remained pressed toward the floorboard and reached down to manually lift the pedal to reduce the vehicle's speed. The vehicle then drove into an intersection and crashed into a second vehicle. During the crash, no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene, and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously repaired after the same failure had occurred. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 95,000.
The headlights on my 2008 Ford Mustang are dim at best. And it's hard to drive the vehicle at night due to the lighting. I've already had one accident where a deer ran in front of me and that was due to it being at night on a dark Road. I have tried to fix it but the mechanic says that it is the way the factory made it. I've already spent $2,300 on fixing the car once and would like to know if there's anything I can do as a safety feature

The wrong software for the power steering control module (PSCM) may have been installed. The steering wheel can perform autonomous movements when the driver attempts to steer, as the electric power steering (EPAS) provides unintended steering assistance. Unintended steering assistance may lead to loss of control over the vehicle while driving and thus to an increased risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The incorrect calibration of the power steering control module (PSCM) could lead the steering wheel to oscillate without warning (alternating clockwise/counterclockwise) during steering due to the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) providing unintended steering assist. This unintended steering assist could lead to loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
Corrosion of the front seatbelt pretensioner cable may cause it to weaken or break, reducing seatbelt effectiveness and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
An unsecured nut may cause the clutch pedal to fail, preventing the driver from changing gear and causing the engine to stall. If the clutch line is lowered, it may melt on hot components and brake fluid may leak and ignite. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
As a result of a polarity error in the secondary digital torque sensor in the steering gear, if the primary steering torque sensor fail, the steering wheel may oscillate when the driver is steering. This can lead to a loss of vehicle control while driving, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
