General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2008-2017 Buick Enclave and 2013-2017 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on November 3, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 10, 2022. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, realign or replace the weld nuts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 24, 2021. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3, 2007, to February 29, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6, 2008, to March 9, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15, 2006, to February 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17, 2006, to March 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
The contact owns a 2012 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph a second vehicle crashed into the passenger side causing severe damage to the vehicle. During the crash, the passenger-side curtain air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained neck, back, and shoulder inquiries. The front passenger sustained head neck and back injuries. The second-row driver-side passenger suffered a head injury. The second-row passenger-side occupant suffered a head and neck and arm injury. The service dog located in the 3rd row was also injured during the crash. Medical attention was sought a couple of days after the incident. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was not towed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACTS VEHICLE AND ALL OF THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT LEG AND ARM. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, BACK AND SHOULDERS. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK INJURIES, AS WELL AS UPPER AND LOWER BACK INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE POWER BACK DOOR"HATCH" SLAMS SHUT AFTER OPENING. BE THE POWER ON OR OFF. SOMETIMES IT WILL STAY OPEN OTHER TIMES IT SLAMS SHUT. IT DOESN'T MATTER EVEN IF YOU ARE STANDING THERE. IT HAS SLAMMED SEVERAL TIMES ON MY CHILDRENS' HEADS. I EMAILED BUICK BUT THEY STATED MY CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL BUT THIS IS OBVIOUSLY THE SAME PROBLEM THE OTHER 2012 BUICK ENCLAVES WERE HAVING.

The contact stated while driving in a parking lot at approximately 5 mph and making a right turn, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle revved up and accelerated to about 20 mph while the brake pedal as depressed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle ran into a building wall as the engine continued revving. The contact shut the engine down and put the vehicle into park. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The contact was injured with a slight cut on the ring finger on his left hand. The contact did not seek medical attention for the cut on his finger. The police were called and wrote an accident report. The contact had the vehicle towed to a tow lot first and then to a body shop. The contact did not have the local dealer diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE ANOTHER DRIVER SEEMINGLY PROCEEDED THRU A STOP SIGN WITHOUT AN ACTUAL STOP, MY CAR WAS HIT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR...FROM SIDE DRIVER'S DOOR TO FRONT PORTION OF VEHICLE, INCLUDING GRILL...LEFT SIDE TIRE WAS BUCKLED INTO VEHICLE WITH PROBABLE AXLE DAMAGE, ETC. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED, AND I HIT MY HEAD ON THE DRIVER'S WINDOW, BREAKING THE WINDOW, RESULTING IN SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES, ETC. MY VEHICLE WAS ON A CITY STREET, 4 WAY STOP, AND HAD JUST STARTED AUTO MOTION TO TURN LEFT AT INTERSECTION. I WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PHOTOS AND ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION AS REQUESTED.

The contact owns a 2012 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that after pressing the liftgate button to the open the rear liftgate, the liftgate door opened before suddenly falling downward and closing. During the incident the liftgate door had made contact with the owners head. The contact sustained bruised head which did not require medical treatment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V415000(Structure). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 105,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE F. C. KERBECK GMC DEALER LOCATED AT 100 ROUTE 73 N, PALMYRA, NJ 08065, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,100.
I HAD THE RECALL DONE ON MY VEHICLE AS PART OF THE 2015/2016 LIFTGATE RECALL. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. THIS MORNING WHEN GETTING INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR, THE LIFTGATE STARTED TO CLOSE ON IT'S OWN WITH NO WARNING (BEEPING OR LIGHTS) AND HIT ME ON THE HEAD. EVEN THOUGH IT IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN AGAIN WHEN IT DETECTS AN OBJECT IN THE WAY, IT CONTINUED TO PUSH CLOSE ON ME. I HAD TO FORCE THE LIFTGATE UP WHILE IT WAS PUSHING DOWN. I TRIED TURNING THE POWER OFF AND THE LIFTGATE WON'T STAY OPEN AT ALL. I TRIED PROPPING SOMETHING UNDER IT TO KEEP IT OPEN, BUT DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE LIFTGATE, I CANNOT KEEP IT OPEN. I EFFECTIVELY CAN NO LONGER SAFELY USE THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE FOR STORAGE, AS I AM AFRAID THE DOOR WILL TRY TO CLOSE ON ME EVERY TIME. I HAVE READ THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL/SOFTWARE ISSUE, AS WELL AS AN ISSUE WITH THE STRUTS ON THE DOOR. I HAD THE SOFTWARE UPGRADED, BUT THE STRUTS WERE NOT REPLACED AS PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL. THE ONLY ELECTRICAL ISSUES I'VE HAD ARE THAT THE ACTUATORS FOR MY HEATING & A/C ARE NOT SWITCHING OVER. BECAUSE OF THIS MY DEFROST AND FRONT VENTS DON'T WORK. I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE IT IS BELOW FREEZING IN THE WINTER. THE DEFROST NOT WORKING HAS CAUSED SAFETY ISSUES BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WILL FOG UP SUDDENLY WHILE I'M DRIVING. I HAVE TO PULL OVER OFTEN TO SQUEEGEE THE FOG OFF THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOWS SO I CAN SEE WHILE DRIVING. TRIED REPLACING THE PARTS OURSELVES, AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. IT RANDOMLY CHANGES BETWEEN BAND, CD, AUX INPUT, SATELLITE RADIO AND USB WITH NO INPUT FROM ME. ALTHOUGH THIS IS MORE OF A NUISANCE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE, I FEAR IT POINTS TO A LARGER ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE ACTUATOR AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM PROBLEMS AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE, SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT. DOES IT EVERY TIME I DRIVE.
REAR LIFT GATE WILL PARTIALLY OPEN THEN CLOSE AGAIN, WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO MANUALLY OPEN IT WILL NOT HOLD IN THE OPEN POSITION. LIFT GATE WILL OPEN ALL OF THE WAY THEN CLOSE ELECTRONICALLY, THE GATE PINNED MY ELDERLY MOTHER. LIFT GATE WILL STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER.

The recall began on November 15, 2016. General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured June 6, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured April 9, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through March 18, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue and separate over time.
Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair and replace the lap pretensioner, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in July 2014. A second notice will be mailed to owners once parts become available. The recall for the 2009-2010 model years began on July 11, 2014. The interim letter for the 2011-2014 model years were distributed on July 11, 2014. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2013 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia and 2009-2013 Chevrolet Traverse and 2008-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles. In the affected vehicles, increased resistance in the driver and passenger seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harnesses may result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying in the event of a crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected harness connections with soldered connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 16, 2014. Buick owners may contact the owner center at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet owners at 1-866-694-6546, Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, and GMC owners at 1-866-996-9463. GM's number for this recall is 14030. SNOW OR ICE BUILDUP ON THE WINDSHIELD OR ON THE WIPER MAY RESTRICT THE MOVEMENT OF THE WIPER ARM, CAUSING THE WIPER ARM TO LOOSEN AND CAUSE THE WIPER TO BECOME INOPERATIVE.
