TAKATA INFLATORS I GOT INTO A VEHICLE COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND SUFFERED A CONCUSSION DUE TO MY AIRBAGS FAILING TO DEPLOY IN MY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE PROCEEDING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SCRAP METAL PASSED THROUGH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN SIDE COLLISION INVOLVING A PICKUP TRUCK THAT HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PASSAT WAS TURNING LEFT AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION AND TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. THE PICKUP WAS UNLAWFULLY OVERTAKING SEVERAL VEHICLES AND TRAVELING AT AN ESTIMATED SPEED OF 65 MPH. THE IMPACT WAS NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL.

WIFE WAS SITTING STILL AT A LIGHT WAITING FOR LIGHT TO TURN GREEN IN ORDER TO TURN LEFT WHEN A CAR HEADING FROM OPPOSITE DIRECTION RAN A RED LIGHT SLAMMED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THEN SLAMMED HEAD ON INTO MY WIFE'S CAR WHICH WAS SITTING STILL AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THEN AIR BAGS IN THE CAR DID NOT DEPLOY. DUE TO THE IMPACT, WIFE'S HEAD WAS SLAMMED INTO STEERING WHEEL GIVING HER A CONCUSSION AND BLACKING OUT AND GETTING HURT BADLY AND MY SON WAS SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT AND JARRED AROUND PRETTY GOOD. I AM VERY UPSET AS HOW THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND THEY DID NOT. IT IS MY FIRM BELIEF THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE AIRBAGS ON THIS CAR AND POSSIBLY MANY MORE. My vehicle was involved in a crash where Vehicle 1 (V1) ran a red light and my vehicle struck V1 along the rear passenger side door, causing my vehicle to spin 180 degrees. The front end of my vehicle was torn off and no airbags deployed, causing injury to the driver of my vehicle. The driver sustained a concussion and whip lash. My vehicle was traveling under 10mph and V1 was approximately 40-50mph. There were no recall repairs listed for my vehicle, but there was a recall in the past for the airbags. I do believe the airbag recall was repaired by a dealership. My vehicle had no warning/indicator lights on the instrument panel showing any problems with the vehicle or the airbags.
MY DAUGHTER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON AUG 26 OF 2020. SHE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN ONCOMING TRAFFIC STRUCK HER IN PASSENGER FRONT BUMPER AND FENDER. HER CAR WAS TOTALED BECUASE OF FRAME DAMAGE. SHE ESTIMATES THE OTHER CAR WAS TRAVELING 25-30 MPH AT TIME OF IMPACT. SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BRAKING AT IMPACT. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON THE VW AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES. ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON OTHER CAR (2013 HONDA CRV). MY CONCERN IS THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS PERFORMED PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE CAR, YET FAILED TO DEPLOY. I'VE NOTIFIED VW CUSTOMER CARE WITH LOCATION OF VEHICLE, YET THEY WONT INSPECT IT TIL I PROVIDE POLICE REPORT, WHICH IS VERY INCONVENIENT TO OBTAIN, CITING THEY CAN NOT OBTAIN IT. I TOLD THEM WHERE VEHICLE IS LOCATED, OR WAS. I FEAR IT MAY BE SOLD AND CANNIBALIZED BEFORE DETERMINING WHY THEY DID NOT DEPLOY.

LATER I RESEARCHED ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND A RECALL DEALING WITH HEADLIGHT ISSUES AND THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE NOT BEING ABLE TO BE ADJUSTED PROPERLY, CAME UP. IF THIS ISSUE WAS FIXED BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR, MY FIANCE WOULD HAVE NOT CRASHED.

INSURANCE ADJUSTER AND MECHANICS ADVISED US THAT AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. DRIVER OF PASSAT WAS INJURED DUE TO FAILURE OF SAFETY FEATURES.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2020 Volkswagen Passat and 2018-2019 Atlas vehicles. The blocking cap disabling the adjustment of the headlight's horizontal aim may not have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

(Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Rimedio: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge.
