SEATBELT DIDN'T TIGHTEN UP INITIALLY DURING A WRECK CAUSING MORE EXTENSIVE INJURY. THEN TIGHTENED UP SNATCHING PASSENGER INTO SEAT FROM MIDAIR CAUSING ADDITIONAL DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND WAS HIT BY A CAR WHO RAN A LEFT TURN ARROW ON A CITY STREET. WRECK WAS UNDER 50MPH BUT PASSENGER HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DUE TO SEATBELT MALFUNCTION. .
OCTOBER 9, 2017 I WAS REAR-ENDED, HIT AT 35 MPH. THIS HIT I WAS SITTING. I WAS SIDE SWIPED AT 40- 45 MPH, MOVING AT THIS TIME. I WAS AGAIN REAR-ENDED AT 50- 55 MPH, STOPPED. AND THEN I WAS BACKED INTO, IN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR AT 20-25 MPH. HOW COME NO AIRBAGS GO OFF?

THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED VIOLENTLY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISING TO THE FACE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A SEVERE CONTUSION FROM THE LOWER ABDOMINAL AREA TO THE BREAST, A FRACTURED STERNUM, AND A BRUISED FACE. THE PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING IN THE COUNTRY WITH MY DAUGHTER. I WAS DRIVING SLOW BECAUSE I HAD NEVER DRIVEN THAT ROAD BEFORE AND THERE WAS A SPEED LIMIT 30 AND THE 45 MPH. THERE WAS A STOP SIGN WHERE I NEEDED TO TURN RIGHT. I STARTED SLOWING DOWN BUT THE CAR WOULD COMPLETE THE STOP. SO, I TURNED RIGHT AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND GOT OUT OF CONTROL. IT WAS ACCELERATING AND MOVING LEFT AND RIGHT LIKE CRAZY. I TRIED TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHT BUT I WASN'T ABLE TO DO THAT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK EITHER. THERE WERE SMALL HILLS ON THE BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD THAT'S WHY THE CAR KEPT DRIVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. PROBABLY 3000-4000 FEET FROM THE STOP SIGN THERE WAS A BIG IRON GATE LEADING TO THE PASTURE. MY CAR KNOCKED DOWN THE WHOLE GATE AND KEPT MOVING INTO THE PASTURE. FINALLY THE CAR HIT ANOTHER POLE AND A FENCE AND STOPPED. THE CAR IS TOTALED. FORTUNATELY I DIDN'T SUFFER ANY SERIOUS INJURES EXCEPT I SUFFERED CONSTANT HEADACHES FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND MY DAUGHTER HAD LONG SCRATCHES ACROSS HER THROAT FROM A SEATBELT. THIS IS A MIRACLE THAT WE ARE ALIVE. IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD. TWO OF OUR CHURCH MEMBERS DROVE 2 MINUTES AFTER ME SO THAT I RECEIVED HELP FROM THEM. THEY DIDN'T WITNESS THE CRASH BUT THEY SAW WHERE IT HAPPENED, HOW THE PLACE OF ACCIDENT LOOKED LIKE, AND LONG MARKS THAT MY CAR LEFT ON THE SIDES OF THE ROAD. ALSO, I GOT A POLICE REPORT WHERE IT SAYS THAT THE DRIVER DIDN'T DO ANYTHING IMPROPER AND THERE IS A MAP OF THE PLACE OF THE ACCIDENT ATTACHED. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY RESPONSE YET. FIRST THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT IT TAKES THEM 30 DAYS TO MAKE A DECISION, LATER HE SAID THAT IT'S 60 DAYS. THE INSPECTOR CAME AND GOT THE CDR DATA FROM THE CAR. HE DIDN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO ME BUT HE EMAILED A CRASH DATA FILES AND SAID TO WAIT A CALL FROM TOYOTA. *TR

The contact stated that the driver sustained a fractured wrist and whiplash that required medical attention via the hospital. A police report was filed. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THEN INSTANTLY COLLAPSED. IT OFFERED NO PROTECTION WHATSOEVER. I EXPERIENCED SEVERE PAIN IN MY CHEST AND RIGHT BREAST FROM WHERE THE SEAT BELT LOCKED. THIS PAIN LASTED FOR 6 WEEKS. IF THE AIRBAG HAD WORKED PROPERLY, IT WOULD HAVE CUSHIONED THE IMPACT AND LIKELY MADE IT POSSIBLE TO LESSEN THE NEED FOR THE SEATBELT TO DO ALL OF THE WORK. THIS MUST BE FIXED! (MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN A PERSON DRIVING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF ME AND TOTALED MY VEHICLE. I NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR, BUT I HAVE A PHOTO OF THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG.)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Rimedio: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The affected vehicles have a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 Lexus SC vehicles manufactured August 3, 2007, to July 30, 2010, 2008 Toyota Corolla vehicles manufactured May 25, 2007, to December 21, 2007, 2008 Toyota Corolla Matrix vehicles manufactured June 1, 2007, to December 18, 2007, and 2008 Pontiac Vibe vehicles manufactured June 1, 2007, to January 2, 2008. This is to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag inflator which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.

THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) FOR THE SUBJECT MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE 1ZZ-FE ENGINE AND TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A CRACK MAY DEVELOP AT CERTAIN SOLDER POINTS OR ON VARISTORS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD.
Rimedio: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE PRODUCTION NUMBER OF THE ECM AND REPLACE THE ECM IF NECESSARY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE.
