DURING THE INCIDENT BOTH THE FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS HAD ALSO ACTIVATED AND DEPLOYED TO SECURE THE OCCUPANTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER JOE MAUS MAZDA LOCATED AT 6735 E INDEPENDENCE BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC WHO REPLACED THE AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. Brake booster failure caused a near miss. Wife driving with 5 year old daughter in the vehicle. The stopping force required on the brake pedal became excessive and the stopping (safe braking) distance significantly increased causing emotional distress. My understanding is this part (brake booster) has a defective diaphragm that deteriorates over time. The extended warranty created for this particular issue did not cover the vehicle at the time of the failure.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED SHOWERING DRIVER WITH GLASS SOME UNEXPECTEDLY SHARP. COULD HAVE EASILY LOST CONTROL OF CAR AND CRASHED. RECEIVED CUT NO MEDICAL TREATMENT.
The contact owns a 2012 Mazda CX9. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been involved in a crash due to a fractured passenger's side lower control arm. The dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle had been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V451000 (Suspension). The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. An independent mechanic replaced the passenger's side lower control arm; however, the contact stated that after the repair was performed, the engine rattled and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic, who determined that the driver's side lower control arm spacers were missing and that the front and rear axles, brakes, and rear shocks needed to be replaced. Additionally, the cage bolts needed to be retightened. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
I was driving along the highway and traffic began to slow. I pushed the brakes and the car did not stop.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 MAZDA CX-9. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND DROVE FORWARD CRASHING INTO A WOODEN SEATING BENCH WHICH WAS PUSHED INTO A BUILDING. DURING THE INCIDENT THE DRIVERS FOOT WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR DARTED FORWARD. FOR A SPLIT SECOND I LIFTED MY FOOT TO MAKE SURE I WAS NOT PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND IMMEDIATELY PUSHED BACK DOWN ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD; THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPEED FORWARD. INSTINCTIVELY I KEPT THE WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE BUILDING IN FRONT OF ME AS THE CAR JUMPED THE CURB, BUT I HIT 2 PARKED CARS. ONCE I WAS ALMOST STOPPED BY HITTING THE 2 PARKED CARS, I QUICKLY TURNED THE KEY OFF AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE BEFORE; AND LET ME TELL YOU, I WAS TERRIFIED. I HAVE PICTURES THAT SHOW TIRE MARKS EITHER FROM THE CARS ACCELERATION OR DRAGGING THE BACK WHEELS FROM PUSHING ON THE BRAKE.
THE BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY RESULTING IN A CRASH. BRAKES WERE HARD AND COULD NOT BE DEPRESSED WHEN A VEHICLE STOPPED QUICKLY IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK THE CAR TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER UNDER A "SPECIAL WARRANTY". THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT NHTSB REOPEN THE INVESTIGATION ON THIS PROBLEM AS IT DOES NOT ONLY INVOLVE 2010 AND 2011 CARS AND DOES NOT ONLY OCCUR IN "HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES". VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WAS SLOWING ON AN SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE. VEHICLE IS 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 53,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, A PICK UP TRUCK REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. IN TURN, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A THIRD VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,804.
I'VE PURCHASED 2012 MAZDA CX-9 AWD IT LATE NOVEMBER OF 2011.RECENTLY I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING MULTIPLE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER-ASSISTED BRAKES FAILURE INCIDENT .I WAS IN A MINOR FENDER BENDEER. THANK GOD THE DRIVER INFRONT WAS VERY NICE AND DIDNT FILE ANY CLAIM AGAINST MY INSURANCE. WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO MAZDA SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO GET IT RESOLVE. INSTEAD OF TAKING UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER-ASSISTED BRAKES AS AN URGENT MATTER. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR IS DRIVABLE AND IT STILL BREAK. I CAN DRIVE MY MAZDA IN THE MEANWHILE, UNTIL THEY HAVE AN OPEN APPOINTMENT FOR MY MAZDA TO BE SEEN. AFTER SPEAKING TO MULTIPLE PERSONEL AT THE SERVICES DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE ABLE TO TAKE MY MAZDA AND FIXED THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER-ASSISTED BRAKES. NOW IM EXPERIENCING SPEED CONTROL AND POWER TRAIN. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY MAZDA STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT TURNING LANE, IN ADDTION TO THE STALL INCIDENT, I WAS ALSO EXPERIENCING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH. IT FELT LIKE CAR HAD DOWNSHIFTED A COUPLE OF GEARS. I LOST FORWARD POWER IN ALL GEARS. MY SONS AND I CAME CLOSE TO MULTIPLE REAR-ENDED INCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE MECHANICAL ISSUE OF OUR MAZDA CX9. PLEASE BECAREFUL WHEN DECIDING TO PURCHASED YOUR MAZDA VEHICLE. *TR
I HAD AN INCIDENT YESTERDAY RESULTING IN A MINOR COLLISION. MY ACCELERATOR STUCK, MY ENGINE KEPT REVVING, AND I COULD NOT STOP. I KEPT APPLYING THE BRAKES BUT IT FELT AS IF EVERYTHING LOCKED UP. I REARENDED THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME NO DAMAGE TO THEIR CAR AND ONLY MINOR TO MINE. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM MAZDA CORPORATE. *TR
While drive i feel like there is sticking something below the car when i am accelerating. And the acceleration became hard. Also i heard a weird noise at that time. Then a saw a leakage below my car.
My driver and passenger side curtain airbags randomly deployed without a collision. Thankfully I was at a stop sign when this happened. If it happened while I was driving, I’m sure I would have wrecked and could possibly be dead. It was loud! I thought I’d been shot or that I’d driven over a bomb. We did take the car to someone that’s certified in airbags and it was stated that this was due to a manufacturer’s defect. I also have lots of pictures. There was no warning when the airbags deployed. Mazda is refusing any responsibility due to the car being outside of the warranty.
