UNKNOWN Airbags did not deploy when struck by a semi that crossed the median and hit me then pinned me against guardrail that was also damaged/destroyed.
The vehicle didn’t have any warning lights or messages on dashboard. Someone ran a red light and hit my car while we were both going over 40mph and my airbags didn’t deploy but there’s did.. my car got towed as it wasn’t drivable anymore and was told the airbags where suppose to deploy but they didn’t.
My vehicle was in 2 MAJOR wrecks. One in dec 2021, where I t boned someone who turned in front of me at a green light. $19k in damages. Should have totaled it. But how in the hell the air bags didn’t go off is amazing. Bc my chest hit the steering wheel so hard i had to be treated for it. Not only that but the wreck destroyed my lower vertebrae. After it took the shop 6 months to fix and taken back for problems multiple times. I had it 2 weeks, and the brakes failed. Due to something the shop did I’m sure but I rear ended a lady with no brakes at 45-50 mph. Slamming directly into her even though I saw her. I broke my toe I hit the brakes so hard. But again I hit her directly where all the sensors are and this wreck was worse than the first the vehicle totaled and no air bags went off…. I shattered my left knee from hitting the dash.broke my big toe on my right foot etc. why didn’t my air bags go off…… I bought my vehicle certified pre owned in 2019. There’s no way in either wreck I missed that air bag sensor. I work in the collision industry. I know they have to be hit directly on to make them go off but there is no reason mine shouldn’t have other than a defect. I was alone in the first wreck, the second I was further injured and had to stop treatment I was still undergoing from the wreck before bc of the lapsing. My daughter was also injured in the second wreck. Second wreck happened in July 2022
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A 4 CAR PILE UP ON THE 3 LANE HIGHWAY. TRAFFIC ABRUPTLY STOPPED SEVERAL CARS IN FRONT OF US ON THE HIGHWAY AND CARS WERE SWERVING TO MISS THE TRAFFIC STOPPED. THE 2 CARS IN FRONT OF US AND OUR CAR WERE ALL ABLE TO GET STOPPED WITHOUT HITTING EACH OTHER. WE WERE STATIONARY (STOPPED) WHEN WE HEARD SQUEALING TIRES AND WERE REAR ENDED BY A F250 HAULING A TRAILER FULL OF FIREWOOD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS TRUCK THEN PUSHED US FORWARD INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. WHICH THEN PUSHED THAT CAR INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. SO, OUR VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND THEN IN THE FRONT. THERE IS SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, AND IT HAS BEEN DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY INSURANCE. MY CONCERN IS THAT NOT ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED DURING THIS ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK PROPERLY. IT WAS PULLED ALMOST ALL THE WAY OUT AND THEN LOCKED. MY HUSBAND IS NOT A BIG GUY SO IT SHOULD OF LOCKED RATHER QUICKLY AND NOT AT THE END OF THE BELT. AS A RESULT, OF THE MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT MY HUSBAND FLEW FORWARD HITTING HIS FACE AND CHEST ON THE STEERING WHEEL. HE DID SUSTAIN INJURIES TO HIS FACE AND BODY FROM THE ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THAT THE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT ISSUED BE LOOKED AT. IT DOES APPEAR THAT SOME OTHER JEEP MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR HAVE SOME RECALLS FOR AIR BAG ISSUES. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF MY DAMAGED VEHICLE AND THE SEATBELT. *BF 'PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'*JB

2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk suffered a Power Transfer Unit failure leading to sudden motive power. Vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road with a narrow shoulder. Exiting the vehicle put driver at risk of being struck by traffic. Driver had to exit the vehicle via the passenger side leading to neck injury. Note Failure of have could have resulted in crash if it had happened earlier. PTU failure confirmed by dealership. Vehicle was under FCA recall O1C NHTSA 25V-011. It should be noted that even though this is a safety issue owners were not told not to drive vehicle, plus the remedy doesn't prevent PTU failure, which can happen without warning in certain conditions.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.
Rimedio: FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

The steering column control module (SCCM) may have been built with an inadequate welded connection between the internal flexible cable (FFC) and the busbar. The faulty connection may not allow the signal from the occupant safety control (ORC) module to reach the driver's airbag module, preventing it from deploying. An airbag that fails to deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury to the driver in the event of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) cooler can be susceptible to thermal fatigue. The exhaust gases can interact with air and other hydrocarbons in the system, which can cause combustion in the inlet manifold. This can lead the vehicle to catch fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
An incorrectly fitted rear coil spring may detach from the vehicle, which could affect vehicle handling and create a hazard for following traffic. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
