On 11/27/21 I was driving my 2019 mustang GT convertible with approx 15,000 miles. While going around a curve (not at an excessive speed) on dry pavement, the car became uncontrollable and began to spin out. As much as I tried to brake and steer into the slide, the car became more and more uncontrollable and felt as though it were speeding up. I only came to a stop after slamming into a tree and rolling over to the other side of the road. Vehicle is a total loss. I was lucky and only suffered minor injuries, but it very easily could have been much worse. The police and paramedics who arrived at the scene were expecting a fatality or severe injuries. In the end I was ticketed for failure to reduce speed. I'm losing my mind explaining to the police and insurance that the car sped up on its own and all control of the vehicle were lost. I am in danger of losing my license because of this and no one is believing that this could possibly happen and convinced me to state that I was probably driving too fast. This is a deadly problem. The internet is full of videos demonstrating this same problem: complete loss of control in a low speed turn. Before you ask, I wasn't racing, I wasn't drifting, I wasn't spinning my tires or doing donuts; I was just trying to go home to my kids who almost lost their father. If there is any saved data or physical evidence that needs to be saved, action is needed ASAP before the insurance company scraps it. Also, it should be noted that in the week leading up to the accident, the rear end would become loose when going around corners. I had planned to have it addressed at the next oil change.

ON OCTOBER 20, 2020 I WAS DRIVING MY 2019 FORD MUSTANG 5.0 GT TO WORK. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I BEGAN TO SMELL A BURNING PLASTIC ODOR. IT GOT STRONGER SO I PULLED MY CAR OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO INSPECT IT. I GOT OUT AND GOT DOWN ON MY KNEES TO CHECK AROUND MY STEERING COLUMN, UNDER MY DASH AND DRIVER SEAT BUT SAW NOTHING HOWEVER THE ODOR OF BURNING PLASTIC GOT STRONGER. I WENT AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DID THE SAME INSPECTION AS I DID ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. AS I WAS DOING THIS, I LOOKED UP AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UP UNDER MY DRIVER'S SEAT. I RAN AROUND TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND FIRE WAS COMING UP FROM UNDER THE SEAT AND SHOOTING UP THE BACK OF MY DRIVER'S SEAT. I GRABBED MY PURSE AND WORK BOOKLET, GRABBED MY PHONE AND DIALED 911. THE INSIDE OF MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN LESS THAN 1 MINUTE. TRAFFIC STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THE SMALL EXPLOSIONS AND FLAMES. FIRE TRUCKS, HIGHWAY PATROL AND SHERIFF'S STARTED SHOWING UP AND A SHORT WHILE LATER THE CAR WAS FINALLY EXTINGUISHED AND TOWED AWAY.*DT*JB*DT*DT*DT

My name is Michelle Wright and I have purchased Ford vehicles most of my life. I love Ford vehicles and have had amazing experiences with Westlie Ford and Landmark Ford. I purchased my vehicle at Vancouver Ford, which is the most unprofessional and unethical dealership. My story starts October 2021, when I purchased a 2019 Ford Mustang from Vancouver Ford. I paid cash for the vehicle and was provided an AutoCheck, not a Carfax the day I had purchased this car. Over the last 8 months I have had several issues that made think my car was an accident but was assured it was never in an accident. After pulling the Carfax, I realized it was in a wreck and had an accident date of July 2019. This led me to look for an accident report, which was filed by a Portland Police officer on July 23, 2019.

Head gasket blew, and car overheated immediately on the freeway, with no warning signs, and at only 43,000 miles when a failure like this should not occur. Had to find a place to pull over and be towed to avoid more engine damage. Both independent mechanic and Ford dealership has confirmed this. Official diagnosis is "Remove and replace cylinder head assembly and replace head gasket – coolant intrusion cylinder 1, P0316, P0301.” Apparently it's a known issue with this particular engine and has a pending lawsuit.

Upon start up the digital cluster remains blank. This happens often now. Th cluster remains blank when this happens until the car is off for over an hour or disconnecting the negative battery (soft reset). While this is going on the vehicle isn't safe to drive. No speed, gear, emergency alerts, nothing is visible.

My 2019 Ford Mustang equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine developed a check-engine light, rough startups, engine misfires/rough running, and some engine knocking. The vehicle had approximately 87,453 miles. I took the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership for diagnosis. The dealer brought the engine to operating temperature, pressurized the cooling system to 21 PSI, removed the ignition coils and spark plugs, and inspected the cylinders with a borescope. The dealer documented coolant intrusion into cylinder #2 due to a failed cylinder head and recommended replacement of the complete long-block engine due to the extent of the damage. The dealer also documented diagnostic trouble codes P0300 and P0316 for misfires, along with P008A and P018C related to low-side fuel pressure. I am concerned that internal coolant intrusion causing misfires, rough operation and engine knocking could result in significant loss of engine power or engine failure while driving, creating a safety hazard, particularly at highway speeds or in traffic. Ford Customer Relations was notified but declined financial assistance because the vehicle is outside the factory warranty and stated that there is no applicable recall for my vehicle. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for inspection. The Ford dealership's written diagnostic report and photographs of the cylinder inspection are available.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated, causing the engine to overheat. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and turned off the vehicle to allow the engine to cool down while waiting on a mechanic to arrive on the scene. An independent mechanic was contacted, and the vehicle was taken to Auto Zone to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant had leaked into cylinders #2 and #3 before the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, and the ignition coil packs and spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V828000 (ENGINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

2019 Ford Mustang with 3.2 EcoBoost engine has coolant intrusion into the engine thru a defectively made engine block. Diagnosed by the Ford dealer in Hinesville,GA on August 11,2026. Car has 52,731 miles on it and has always been maintained by the local Ford service department. Car is a daily driver, no abuse or rough driving. Car is available for inspection upon request Coolant intrusion can cause sudden engine failure, loss of power and sudden stoppage at any speed. Overheating due to loss of coolant, engine fire, loss of control of the car. Check engine light came on and engine ran rough on cold start up on [XXX] & i then took it in to be checked out by Ford service. Service advisor stated that this coolant intrusion is due to a Ford known defect in the EcoBoost engines; but that there has been no recall. Only solution he offered was to have a new replacement engine installed for about $13,500. I declined the replacement. Coolant intrusion. This particular motor has caused NUMEROUS issues with 2019 & older Ford models, specifically with the 2.3L Ecoboost engines. The Ford Motor Company should recall & replace the engines of all models affected, mine included. I spent $2200 for a new timing system, tow fees, was broke down on the side of the road when my engine overheated. I bought this car brand new. Financed $27k & owe $3900 right now. Devastated & livid describes how I feel at the present. Coolant intrusion causing hydrolock is a KNOWN issue by Ford, and they should make things right with the owners of the vehicles affected. A new motor will cost $6500. That should NOT be a cost that the customer has to pay.
