AFTER BACKING OUT OF GARAGE, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK WITH ENGINE RUNNING WHILE I WALKED BACK INTO GARAGE. NOTE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLOPE. EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT SET. WHILE IN GARAGE, I NOTICED VEHICLE WAS ROLLING DOWN DRIVEWAY. I WAS KNOCKED DOWN BY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHILE TRYING TO GET IN TO APPLY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED OVER MY MAILBOX, ACROSS STREET, OVER NEIGHBOR'S MAILBOX AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A TREE. MY WIFE WAS IN CAR SO KNOWS THAT REAR PARKING SENSORS NEVER CHIMED TO INDICATE IT WAS ABOUT TO HIT SOMETHING WHICH I BELIEVE CONFIRMS THAT THE CAR WASN'T STILL IN REVERSE AFTER BACKING OUT OF GARAGE. THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT DEPLOYED. I BELIEVE THAT VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF PARK. IT WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I FIRST GOT OUT. MY INJURIES FROM BEING KNOCKED TO THE GROUND AND HERS FROM BEING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT BOTH FEEL THEY DIDN'T WARRANT EMERGENCY ROOM TREATMENT BUT WILL GET TREATMENT IF PAIN PERSISTS.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact returned to the vehicle to retrieve a work bag from the trunk. The contact noticed that there was smoke inside the vehicle, and flames were coming from underneath the front passenger's side seat. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with his breath, hand, and a cloth; however, the smoke persisted. The fire department was contacted and arrived at the scene. The fire department confirmed that the fire originated from the battery. No police report or fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair shop by the insurance company for an estimate of the repair. The contact sustained smoke inhalation but had not yet received medical assistance. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

MY WIFE PUT HER 2015 DURANGO INTO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS STANDING AT MY PASSENGER WINDOW SPEAKING TO ME WHEN HER CAR SUDDENLY ROLLED TOWARD HER. THE DURANGO PINNED HER BETWEEN IT AND MY VEHICLE FROM THE CHEST DOWN.*DT*JB *DT*JB *DT *TR
1. AIR BAG CONTINUOUSLY POPS UP WHENEVER DRIVING, I HAVE RECEIVED MULTIPLE EMAILS FROM WESTGATE AND TAKEN TO THEM WITH NO REPAIR. RECENT ACCIDENT AIRBAG DID NOT WORK. 2. I AM UNABLE TO OPEN GAS TANK FROM INSIDE, I LITERALLY HAVE TO GET OUT GO TO BACK OF TRUCK AND PULL A LEVER, I FOUND OUT HOW TO DO THIS BY ANOTHER OWNER WHO DID IT ON YOUTUBE. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY CAR TWICE. 3. I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE I RAN INTO A MINI MALL, I PULLED UP AND PARKED THEN THE CAR JUST TOOK OFF ON OWN, IT HAPPEN SO FAST AND ONLY THING I OUR POLICE COULD THINK WAS I PUSHED WRONG PEDDLE BUT I DID NOT, I DID TAKE TO WESTGATE FOR REPAIRS, THERE WAS A RECALL AND WAS NEVER REIMBURSED FOR $500 DEDUCTIBLE OR PAIN/SUFFERING
~OCTOBER 2017, I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE REAR SEAT; I WAS GETTING READY TO EXIT MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I REALIZED MY KEY FOB WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE. I LEFT THE CAR TO GO GET MY KEY FOB AND LEFT THE DOOR OPEN; BY THE TIME I GOT TO MY BACK DOOR, MY DAUGHTER WAS SCREAMING (SHE WAS IN HER CAR SEAT) AND THE CAR WAS MOVING BACKWARD DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, SCRAPING AGAINST THE HOUSE, INTO THE STREET AND ACROSS THE ROAD TO THE NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE UP THEIR DRIVEWAY. I RAN AFTER THE VEHICLE AND RIGHT BEFORE IT STRUCK MY NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE, WAS ABLE TO THROW MY FOOT INTO THE BRAKE FROM THE SIDE WHILE I FELL ON THE GROUND. I WAS BRUISED AND MY CAR WAS DAMAGED, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MY DAUGHTER WAS FINE BUT SCARED. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK AT THE DOOR/MIRROR AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ISSUE (THIS IS REFERENCED IN THE "ACTION PLAN" FOR THE VISIT), AND THE GENTLEMAN AT THE MIKE SMITH BEAUMONT DEALERSHIP STATED THAT MY VEHICLE MUST HAVE HAD A QUIRK, BECAUSE THERE WAS ALREADY AN UPDATE AVAILABLE ON THAT WHICH THEY WOULD TEST. WHEN I CAME BACK TO GET MY VEHICLE, I ASKED ABOUT THE UPDATE, AND HE STATED THAT HE WAS MISTAKEN; THAT ONLY PICKUP TRUCKS WERE GETTING THAT UPDATE. I ASKED WHY, BECAUSE THERE'S NO LESS SAFETY RISK IN A DURANGO (IN FACT, PROBABLY MORE CHILDREN). HE DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER BUT SAID HE WOULD GET BACK TO ME. NO ONE DID, AND I COMPLAINED TO DODGE ONLINE. EVENTUALLY IN AUGUST 2018 I GOT AN ODDLY PHRASED NOTICE THAT DID NOT USE THE WORD RECALL BUT STATED THAT "REPAIRS" NEEDED TO BE MADE. I WROTE TO DODGE AGAIN AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH THE ORIGINAL PROBLEMS TO MY DOOR/WINDOW BUT THEY WOULD NOT. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT DODGE DID NOT INCLUDE DURANGOS IN THIS OBVIOUSLY EXISTING TECHNOLOGY AND DISAPPOINTED THAT IT TOOK A YEAR TO TAKE ANY ACTION (WHICH DOES NOT HELP MY REPAIRS). I AM VERY GRATEFUL WE WERE NOT MORE BADLY INJURED.
I STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH ONE FOOT STILL OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SO THE KEY FOB COULD BE DETECTED AND EXITED. AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK MY RIGHT FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR THEN ENGAGED INTO DRIVE AND CRASHED INTO THE WOODS. MY RIGHT ARM WAS SLAMMED IN THE DOOR AND I HIT MY BACK ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. FOUR OF MY SMALL CHILDREN WERE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS A DECENT AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT DUPLICATED AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR MY INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT HAS BEEN FILED. THIS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TT *DT UPDATED 10/15/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A TREE ON THE CONTACT'S PROPERTY. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE FELL AND INJURED HER ARM WHILE TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS PROVIDED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AT A BODY SHOP. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN PARK POSITION ON A SIDE ROAD. IT WAS STILL RUNNING SINCE WE WEREN'T GOING TO REMAIN PARKED THERE EXCEPT FOR A FEW MINUTES. I WAS TAKING PICTURES OF MY SON BEFORE HIS BAND CONCERT NEAR THE SCHOOL WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. IT REMAINED STATIONARY/PARKED FOR UP TO 4 MINUTES AT WHICH POINT IN TIME IT STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE INCLINED ROAD UNATTENDED. HAVE NO IDEA WHAT PART OF THE CARE MALFUNCTIONED TO SWITCH IT OUT OF PARK. SO UNKOWN.
The driver's side head rest deployed while I was driving on the highway without any collision and struck me in the back of the head hard. I did experience some whiplash symptoms for a few days as was confirmed by my chiropractor doctor. Post inspection revealed the plastic retaining brackets failed and the spring force released and deployed the headrest. I contacted Chrysler customer care (reference case #94643848) and was told my vehicle was just past the 10 year warranty period by 3 months and they would not cover the replacement cost. The replacement would be nice but what about the safety aspect? Why wasn't this a mandatory recall? Like the air bags issue years ago.
The contact's fiancé owns a 2015 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the front, passenger side headrest air bag deployed without impact. The contact stated that the air bag hit the contact's fiancé in the neck. The contact's fiancé had suffered from neck pain as a result of the incident, but did not seek medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and was given the same information as the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. The VIN was not available.
Both headrests in front seat deployed while driving causing neck pain and almost caused an accident. I was driving on the highway and it popped and hit my head forcing my head forward and me losing focus. No warning signs. Looked up the issue and it seems to be a known issue for the vehicle. Have not taken to the dealer as I do not have the money to replace them.
my car was parked in a parking lot and the headrest deployed, exploded into my head, I blacked out was taken to hospital with a concusion. I did not or even see a recall or any warning this just happened a few days ago, I have not taken it to dealers. Speaking with lawyers at the moment. there was no accident or movment to cause it to deploy. it was random. It is available if needed to be inspected. no police inspection or insurance inspection
While driving to the store (with my son in the front passenger seat) all of a sudden, and for no apparent reason, the front passenger seat headrest popped (came forwards) striking him in the back of the head with substantial force stun him temporarily. The startled me. He had a headache for a couple hours afterwards.
The driver’s side headrests randomly popped out while I was driving, causing possible whiplash.

Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.

Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network.
