The contact stated that after her husband entered traffic at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was struck on the front driver's side by another vehicle at 45 MPH. The air bags did not deploy as a result of the collision. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel. A police report was filed, and three individuals were treated for injuries: the driver of the vehicle was treated for a broken collar bone, the passenger of the vehicle was treated for bruising, and the driver of the other vehicle was treated for undisclosed injuries. On July 7, 2023, my Aunt was in a car accident that caused severe injuries to her body, face, and head. Her car is totaled. She believes the car's Lane Keep or Lane Departure systems are the cause of the accident. She has asked me to assist with reporting the accident and wants an investigation done. She received an "Lane Departure" warning about 3 days prior to the accident and again on the morning of the accident when she started the vehicle. She is unsure what the exact message said. When the accident occurred, she states she was vigilant, alert, and focused on driving. She was not on the phone and did not have any other distractions in the car at the time. She was driving on the Hwy when all of a sudden the car jerked her violently out of the lane and into a bridge. The car bounced off the bridge and ended up a ways down the road on the other side. She has a concussion, fractured sternum, fractured sinuses, cuts, bruises, and other injuries. Q. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A. Yes, the vehicle is at the junk yard Q. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A. Severe bodily damage Q. ALSO, BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT IMMEDIATELY DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISING OF THE BOTTOM TORSO, BACK, NECK, AND HEAD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. I HAVE ASKED VARIOUS DDEPARTMENTS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND GM FINANCIAL FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS ISSUE BUT TO NO AVAIL.

The vehicle was randomly shut down. After waiting, the vehicle restarted. While depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal, unidentifiable noise detected, and the vehicle came to a sudden halt. While driving at 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped, and she hit her head on the steering wheel but medical attention was not provided. The vehicle was pulsating while driving. There was a sound of water going through the vehicle. The vehicle was slow to accelerate and then moved violently. All the instrument warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or reported. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Capital Chevrolet, at 9820 Capital Blvd., Wake Forest, NC 27587, where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was not safe to be on the road. The oil throttle body and vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V668000 ( Power Train), and NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V642000 (Electrical System Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine). The contact towed the vehicle to a third local dealer Bomnin Chevrolet West Kendall (11701 SW 152nd St, Miami, FL 33177:(305) 964-3099) and the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact towed the vehicle to a fourth local dealer Ed Morse Sawgrass Chevrolet Service Center (14401 W Sunrise Blvd, Sunrise, FL 33323:(888) 366-8808) and the mechanic was also unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated after the vehicle was serviced at Ed Morse Sawgrass Chevrolet Service Center, she began to experience failure with the gear shifter, the auto start, the steering gear, the suspension, and the brakes. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to Ed Morse Sawgrass Chevrolet Service Center and had the gear shifter, the auto start, the steering gear, the suspension, and brakes replaced. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure and the vehicle was not operable. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. During servicing, a Passenger Presence System (PPS) may have been installed that was not correctly calibrated to the vehicle's seat type. As a result, the PPS may not properly identify an adult passenger from a child passenger in the front passenger seat, potentially causing the air bag to not deploy when it should, or causing the air bag to deploy when it shouldn't.
Rimedio: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger PPS seat service kit, free of charge. The recall began August 7, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18208.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 GMC Canyon, 2016-2017 Buick Envision, 2016-2018 Chevrolet Colorado and Malibu, 2017-2018 GMC Acadia, 2018 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Equinox, and GMC Terrain vehicles. The high pressure fuel pump may detach from its mounting flange, possibly resulting in the pump damaging the high pressure fuel line.
