The vehicle while parked and not running on our driveway burst into flames and had large fire and explosions that burned the vehicle front half completely. the whole engine compartment burned and melted and destroyed the vehicle. No warning lights, no issues. Just burst into flames and destroyed the vehicle.
The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 AM. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it would take up to 30 days for a field investigator to inspect the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that it could take up to 45-60 days to determine whether there was liability. The failure mileage was approximately 13,900.
This Toyota Tundra, equipped with the specially designed air bag rear suspension, for towing, is incapable of towing anything on U.S. roads, particularly U.S, Interstates crossing our country... where a very large portion of these interstates are rutted, like a washboard, caused by over-weight trucks and the weather... and these rutted or rippled interstate roads last sometimes for hundreds of miles at a time... from western Ohio to Montana, easily 75% of the roads are in this condition. The truck is a complete hazard, and extremely dangerous to the driver and anyone else on the highway. It is dangerous to the highest degree and should not be allowed on any U.S. highway. The rear airbag suspension is controlled by a computer, this computer constantly levels the truck, and there is no way to over-ride this system/computer program. So, the truck is constantly trying to level itself. Note, this adaptive air-bag suspension is sold by Toyota as the ultimate towing machine, six years in Toyota design... yet, it is totally incapable of towing on U.S. highways, unless, of course, the roads are new and black top and totally smooth. So, this is what happens, every time the truck hits a bump, the computer tries to level the truck... when towing a trailer, in this case a 30 foot Airstream, the tounge weight is 950 pounds — so with every bump the tounge of the trailer slams down 950 pounds on the back of the truck, and the truck desperately tries to level itself. This creates some sort of synergistic response between the truck and the trailer, and the truck and the trailer start rocking back in forth in a very violent manner, and when you let off the gas and slow down, it becomes even more violent, and extremely difficult to keep on the road and in your lane... not to say, what it does to the driver, who is slammed around the cabin. This suspension was clearly designed on a computer, and never road-tested on U.S. highways and interstates in the north... It is a disaster.
My 2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition, VIN [XXX], is subject to Toyota Safety Recall 25TA06, Interim 25TB06, NHTSA Recall 25V322, concerning reverse lamps that may become inoperable. The recall was announced in May 2025, but a repair remedy has still not been made available for my vehicle. The truck is primarily used for family transportation, including trips and nighttime driving. I experienced a minor, low-speed property-damage incident while reversing in a poorly lit garage area. Visibility behind and beside the vehicle was limited, and the truck contacted a garage-door support column before the garage lighting came on. The incident caused minor cosmetic side damage. There were no injuries, no structural damage, no police report, and no insurance claim. I previously advised Toyota that I had experienced an issue related to the recall. Toyota opened Customer Experience Case [XXX]. Toyota offered to keep my truck at a dealership indefinitely and provide alternate transportation until a remedy became available, but it could not guarantee a comparable Tundra 1794 or provide an estimated repair date. Toyota later opened repurchase review Case [XXX]. I promptly provided the requested documentation, but despite repeated telephone and email follow-ups, Toyota has not provided a meaningful review timeline, vehicle inspection date, or final determination. My primary complaint to NHTSA is the extended period without an available safety remedy and the continuing risk to owners operating affected vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the adequacy and timeliness of Toyota’s recall remedy process for this defect. Hit a deer going 53mph, and the air bags did not deploy. Truck dashboard said that air bags were deploying, and then that they had deployed, but the air bags never deployed. The emergency braking and collision warning system all worked fine.
Awaiting 13 months for safety remedy for NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 25V322. NO INFORMATION FROM MANUFACTURER NOR CAR DEALER. NO ONE HAS ANY INFORMATION REGARDING TIMETABLE FOR SAFETY REPAIRS.
* 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited non hybrid TRD Off Road with 43k miles with catastrophic engine failure with no warning. Started as a very slight ticking sound while doing about 60 mph level to slightly downhill. * I could only hear it with very light throttle input (between 2 and 5%). Past 5% and at 0 pedal there was nothing. This went on for about 1 minute then it started to get significantly louder and more noticeable with throttle input and while starting to go uphill. * Shortly after it started catastrophically knocking with dash saying loss of power and oil pressure. * I get it stopped and it immediately shut down on its own. Due to very little warning I was forced to pull over on a right curve of a highway potentially putting my family and as well as passing traffic in danger. * Engine leaking oil. Couldn’t find anything obvious where the oil was coming from. After doing some research it seems like the front and main crank seals started leaking. More noticeable on the rear seal. This was a dangerous situation because oil was leaking on the hot exhaust and could have cased a fire on the side of a highway. * The Toyota dealer has possession of the vehicle for repairs. They have not stated if it is possible to be available for inspection. * The dealer has inspected the vehicle and is in the process of ordering a replacement engine.
Engine stalls or hesitates when taking off from a stop. When taking off from a stop the Truck will hesitate after the accelerator is pushed and not move forward. This hesitation causes me to push the accelerator more trying to get the Truck to move. When the truck does move it then lunges forward I assume because I continue to push the accelerator more trying to get the Truck to move. The engine in this Truck is also being recalled in Non Hybrid Models because they are seizing up. This is the exact same engine in the Hybrid and should be under the same recall for the engine seize defect.

It has now been over a year since this recall was issued, and no remedy has been made available to me. The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the short block engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact researched and became aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Total engine failure in v35a at 65- 70 mph which dealer has confirmed was due to main bearing failure. Inability to accelerate vehicle in heavy traffic lead to extreme unsafe situation. No warning lamps came on until after the vehicle completed stopped running. Both the manufacturer and the NHTSA are well aware of the continued problems with these engines and the unsafe failure. The only warning ‘hybrid system malfunction “( which has nothing to do with dealer performed diagnostic of metal in oil pan failed main bearing) came on after the truck was inoperable.
My Toyota Tundra's windshield spontaneously cracked while I was sitting at a stop in the vehicle. The crack started below the hood line and there are huge number of Tundra owners having the same issues with Tundras manufactured from 2022 - 2026. Toyota refused to acknowledge the issue but it is widespread on the internet.
engine knocks on start up or is very rough. the truck only has 8200 miles on it. i’m waiting for the recall to be processed but it’s been 2 years and i’m still waiting. i want to sell the truck because im afraid of it breaking down when i need it. but no one wants to buy the truck based on issues with the engines Toyota put in the trucks. how long do i have to wait for a new engine with the same design flaw? why is this issue taking so long to be rectified.How long do i have to wait for the back up light s issue to be resolved also? that’s also been 2 years! who’s sleeping at the wheel here to put pressure on Toyota?
“Before purchasing the vehicle new, I specifically asked the selling dealership about the known engine-related stop-sale concerns affecting Toyota Tundras. I was advised that the applicable issue involving this vehicle had been addressed and that the truck had been cleared for sale. The vehicle was subsequently sold to me as new. At approximately 5,141 miles, an independent repair facility documented gold-colored shavings/material in the engine oil filter. The filter has been preserved. My VIN currently shows no unrepaired recall. I have formally notified Toyota Motor Sales and requested that Toyota identify what stop-sale, recall, inspection, remedy, or other corrective procedure was performed on this specific VIN before it was released for sale. The composition and source of the material have not yet been determined. I am concerned that, if the material represents abnormal internal engine wear, the condition could potentially result in engine failure and loss of motive power while driving.

Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed July 23, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. The vehicles can contain crankshaft main bearings that have not been properly cleared of machining debris during manufacturing. This contamination can cause the bearings to fail. This can lead to engine knocking, rough running, inability to start, or stalling. If the engine stalls while driving, the sudden loss of power increases the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
