MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT ON MAY 11TH, 2014. THREE OCCUPANTS OF MY MV WERE INJURED, INCLUDING MYSELF. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. WITH THIS RECALL THE SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAGS WOULD FAIL TO DEPLOY IN A SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT. AFTER MAY 11, 2014, I TOOK MY 2013 PATHFINDER TO LIA NISSAN IN ENFIELD, CT, TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS INSPECTED TO SEE IF THEY OPERATED PROPERLY IN THE ACCIDENT. WITHOUT INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE FEMALE SERVICE TECH./MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD SURELY HAVE OPERATED PROPERLY IN THE ACCIDENT AS DESIGNED. THE SERVICE EMPLOYEE STATED I NEEDED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED SO THEY COULD PERFORM THE RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS/AIR BAG SENSOR. THEY WOULD NOT INSPECT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. DAMAGE TO THE 2013 PATHFINDER INCLUDED FRAME DAMAGE, BOTH PASSENGER DOORS WERE INOPERABLE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FRAME WAS REPLACED AS IT WAS BENT IN THE ACCIDENT. MV WAS REPAINTED. AFTER THE REPAIRS, I WAS STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON INDICATING THE AIRBAGS WERE OFF. AT VARIOUS NORMAL SERVICE (OIL CHANGES ETC...) I INFORMED NISSAN TECHS ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT. I WAS GIVEN THIS ADVICE FROM THE SERVICE TECH. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN TURN THE MV ON AND OFF TO RESET THE SENSOR. MARCH 2015 AFTER READING THE ARTICLE REGARDING THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THESE SAME ISSUES. I AGAIN TOOK MY MV TO LIA NISSAN IN ENFIELD, CT. TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT BEING STILL ON. THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE WAS FIXED WITH THE RECALL AND EVEN IF THE PASSENGER (AIRBAG OFF) LIGHT IS ON, THE AIR BAGS WOULD STILL WORK PROPERLY. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE PROPER "OFF" INDICATOR WAS THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I WAS THEN ADVISED AGAIN TO TURN MY MV OFF THEN ON TO RESET THE SENSOR. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS ISSUE TO BE RESOLVED.
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

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "ON" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "Park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.
Solution : Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2021.
