I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND SAW AN ARC FLASH AND PULLED TO THE SIDE EMERGENCY LANE. I THEN SAW FLAMES DRIPPING FROM MY JEEP AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE JEEP WENT UP IN FLAMES AND CAUGHT FIRE.
During a high-speed collision/accident the vehicle had a high speed impact and rolled several times during the accident. The airbag system did not deploy as it should have the airbags in the seats for the sides, and the back did not deploy the driver of the vehicle myself was injured severely and ejected from the vehicle due to the airbags, not deploying, I sustained multiple injuries the only airbag that deployed was from the steering wheel which cause multiple rib fractures, and no other airbags were deployed The drivers seatbelt was locked, and could not be removed, unable to open the seatbelts.
THE 2018 JEEP WRANGLER BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS IN OCT OF 2019 WITH A RACING ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES, MAY OF 2020 THE CAR HAD SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 5 DAYS. IN JUNE THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED AND IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 6 DAYS. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US THE DEALERSHIP SAID NOT TO DRIVE IT VERY FAR. ON JULY 23RD. THE CAR WENT ROGUE IN REVERSE AT 60 MILES AN HOUR BACKWARDS. NO PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, IT JUST TOOK OFF, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK. IT WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY.
I SWERVED TO MISS A DEER.I RAN OFF A BIG DROP OFF&HIT ON MAINLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE.THERE WAS OVER $26K DAMAGE REPAIRS DONE.THEY HAVE DECIDED TO TOTAL MY JEEP WITH A LITTLE OVER 36K MILES.I RAN OFF THE RAID&HIT ON MAINLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE.MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY MY SEAT BELT DID NOT PREVENT ME FROM HITTING MY FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL.I HAVE A GASH ABOVE MY RIGHT EYE THAT THE EMTS ADVISED ME TO GO TO A HOSPITAL TO HAVE STITCHES.BUTBWITH THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC FULLY IN FORCE I DECIDED NOT TO GO TO THE NEXT COUNTY FOR MEDICAL.ASSITANCE SINCE MY LOCAL HOSPITAL IS NOT EQUIPPED TO PREFORM THE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE THAT WAS NEEDED. I MISSED SEVERAL.DAYS OF WORK FOR THIS INCIDENT. I'M ASKING FOR ANSWERS TO WHY MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I'M WANTING & NEEDING TO KNOW WHY MY SEAT BELT DID NOT PREVENT MY FACE FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL & ALSO WARPING MY STEERING WHEEL IN THE PROCESS. PLEASE I NEED ANSWERS FOR I'VE ALWAYS WANTED & DREAMED OF OWNING A JEEP. THEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE BUT I NEED TO KNOW THAT IT IS ALSO SAFE FOR ME & MY FAMILY.
TRYING TO AVOID A LARGE DIRT CLUMP LEFT IN THE ROAD BY THE ROAD MAINTENENCE CREW I SWERVED TO THE LEFT AT 35 MILES AN HOUR AND THE ESM/ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE JEEP TOOK OVER THE CAR I COULD NOT APPLY THE BRAKES OR CONTROL THE STEERING THE SPEED DID NOT DEMINISH AND THE VEHICLE CROSSED AN INTERSECTION ROLLING UP AN EMBANKMENT SO THAT THE FRONT OF THE JEEP WENT IN THE AIR AND CAME DOWN HARD CAUSING THE FRAME TO BREAK AND THE FRONT AXLE TO BEND. IF I COULD HAVE AT LEAST BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING I COULD HAVE TURNED IN THE DIRECTION I HAD INTENDED TO GO THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. JEEP IS NOW TRYING TO FIX THE CONTROL SYSTEM AFTER THE DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON EVEN AFTER THE JEEP STOPPED. I SEE OTHERS HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM. I HAD A 2012 RUBICON THAT HAD TROUBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM SO I TRADED OFF FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS ALSO CAUSE ME A BROKEN BACK. THE SEAT BELT WAS DEPLOYED AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.I WAS ON A COUNTY ROAD AND WAS GOING TO TURN LEFT ONTO ANOTHER COUNTY ROAD BUT COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL.THESE ROADS ARE DIRT AND WERE JUST GRADED LEAVING LOOSE DIRT AND ICE WHICH WERE NOT THERE WHEN I HAD TRAVELED THIS ROAD ABOUT 2 HOURS EARLIER. I WAS IN TWO WHEEL DRIVE AND HAVE FOUNT BLOGS WHERE OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THAT YOU SHOULD TURN THE SYSTEM OFF ON DIRT ROADS.
"TAKATA RECALL" - WHILE COMING OFF THE INTERSTATE, I STARTED BRAKING BECAUSE VEHICLES WERE STOPPED AT THE TOP OF THE EXIT RAMP TO TURN ONTO THE OVERPASS (HIGHWAY). THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. ON THREE SEPARATE TIMES THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION PROPER. THEY WOULD NOT GRIP. FELT LIGHT HYDRO-PLAINING OR LIKE THEY WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH DISTANCE TO STOP AND I WAS BRAKING BEFORE I LEFT THE INTERSTATE. ON THE THIRD TRY, THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. MY SON WAS IN THE VEHICLE AND KEPT ASKING WHY WE WERE NOT SLOWING DOWN AND STOPPING. THE VEHICLE DID SLOW DOWN, BUT NOT ENOUGH OR IN ENOUGH TIME. *DT*JB
2018 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RUST ON WHEELS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED UPON LIVING THE DEALERSHP THE LEFT REAR WHEEL CAME OFF CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO CRASH.*JS
The Jeep Wrangler JL Sport S (2018), has been having steering issues (death wobble) while driving at highway speeds whenever it encounters a bump or potholes at speeds greater than 60mph. The only remedy is to break and slow down to 40mph, this poses a safety hazard on interstates and highways as the vehicles behind have limited time to react and operating this vehicle while it is vibrating is extremely hard and dangerous in traffic. Myself and my wife have been victims of several road rash incidents as the vehicle's behind don't know what is going on when we slow down to stop vibrating, they have honked us and have even followed my wife for 5 miles harassing her on the interstate. We have an infant at home and are concerned for his safety as he travels with us in the Jeep. The car dealer continues to recommend replacing the "steering dampener" as a remedy but having replaced it twice has not fixed the issue. We need FCA to fix this as soon as possible as operating this vehicle in this condition is not acceptable.
THE REDESIGN OF THE 2018 JEEP WRANGLER (JL) INCLUDES AN UNSAFE DESIGN OF THE FREEDOM TOP. WHEN THE FRONT FREEDOM PANELS ARE REMOVED, THE EDGES OF THE BACK PANEL EXTEND ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE SOUND BAR AND ARE NOT FINISHED WITH ANY TRIM, WHICH LEAVES A SHARP EXPOSED FIBERGLASS EDGE TO DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE FRONT FREEDOM PANELS REMOVED IN THE MANNER INSTRUCTED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND BY MOPAR VIA THEIR YOUTUBE TUTORIALS. WHEN HE EXTENDED HIS HAND UPWARD TO REACH FOR HIS HAT, THE EXPOSED EDGE OF THE BACK PANEL OF THE FREEDOM TOP CUT HIS HAND DEEPLY ENOUGH TO SEVER A NERVE AND AN ARTERY, REQUIRING EMERGENCY CARE AND SURGERY. THIS OCCURRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE NEWER 2019 MODEL APPEARS TO HAVE ADDED PLASTIC TRIM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER THIS UNREASONABLY UNSAFE CONDITION SHOULD BE ADDRESSED FOR ALL OF THE 2018 JL MODELS AS WELL. *DT *DT*JB *DT *TR *DT *DT *TR
KEEP WRANGLER DEATH WOBBLE, CAUSE ME TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD WHILE MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. SINCE THEN MY DAUGHTER HAD BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT NECK PAINS. MY NECK AND BACK ALSO HAS BEEN IN PAIN SINCE THEN. GOING TO SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT.
WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. GOING ABOUT 60 MPH STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BEGAN TO SHAKE AGGRESSIVELY. HAD NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE. HAD TO APPLY BRAKES AND GET IT DOWN TO 40 MPH BEFORE STEERING WILL UNLOCK. VEHICLE NOW IN JEEP DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESOLUTION. IN ADDITION I'VE HAD SHOOTING PAIN DON BACK FROM AGGRESSIVE SHAKING.
I HAVE A LEMON JEEP THAT HAS CAUSED ME MANY ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE STEERING ISSUE AND ENGINE OVERHEATING AND LEAKING OIL WHICH I ALMOST STARTED A WILDFIRE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MOUNTAINS HIGHWAY 299. UNACCEPTABLE, FCA DOESNT CARE ....
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Jeep started on fire and is still at a tow yard in Belchertown, MA How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The Jeep started on fire while I was driving. Not that I know of. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, we gave permission for our insurance agency and Jeep to inspect the burned out vehicle. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? While I was driving, the engine temp and coolant warning lights shot way up and then the engine began to smoke. I pulled over and before I could exit the vehicle, fire was coming into the cab through the air vents.

Friction can cause the clutch pressure plate to overheat, which can lead the pressure plate to break unexpectedly. The breaking of a pressure plate can form cracks or holes in the transmission housing, from which heated debris can escape. Heated debris expelled from the transmission mounting can come into contact with a source of ignition in the vehicle or in the surroundings, which can cause a fire.
