The contact's father owns a 2013 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while his father was driving at approximately 40 MPH straight forward, the brake pedal was depressed, and it traveled to the floorboard. Then, the brake pedal was lifted, and the brake pedal traveled a second time to the floorboard. The vehicle did not slow down as intended, and the vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bag did not deploy, and no warning lights illuminated. The contact's father sustained a facial bruise. Medical attention was not needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a lot where it was pending an inspection from the insurance company. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.

I am reporting a recurring safety issue with the Forward Collision Alert/Automatic Emergency Braking system on my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT. The vehicle frequently activates the Forward Collision Alert when there is no vehicle, pedestrian, or other obstruction in front of me. The red collision warning will illuminate and the system will beep even when the roadway is clear. More concerning, on three separate occasions the vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes extremely hard while I was driving in traffic despite there being no obstacle or imminent collision. The most recent incident occurred on August 11, 2026. I was making a turn through a busy intersection when the Automatic Emergency Braking system suddenly activated and applied the brakes extremely hard. There was no vehicle, pedestrian, or obstruction in my path that would have required emergency braking. The sudden braking occurred while I was in the intersection and created a serious risk of being struck by surrounding traffic. The braking force was severe enough that my seat belt restrained me very hard and caused an injury to my chest and flew me forward into the steering wheel while also risking the vehicle behind me to almost slam into me. This was not an isolated occurrence. This is the third time the vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes hard while I was driving in traffic. In addition to these three braking incidents, I have experienced frequent false Forward Collision Alerts where the red warning and audible alert activate when nothing is in front of the vehicle. I am concerned that the Forward Collision Alert/Automatic Emergency Braking system is malfunctioning and could cause a collision by unexpectedly stopping the vehicle in moving traffic. I am requesting that this recurring safety issue be documented and investigated.

While my wife was pulling into park the car and pressing the brake, the car all of a sudden accelerated into the building. Pressing the brake failed to stop the car. No person was in the way of the car so no one other than my wife was at risk of injury. The problem has not been reproduced since the car was totaled. The car was inspected by the insurance for loss but that was it. Police and manufacturer have not inspected the car. No warnings were presented prior to the accident.

Multiple warning lights on the vehicle stating the ABS brake system was not functioning, the letters brake showed by the gauges but it was not the parking brake because I put that on to check it and it was a different warning light. The lane assist was not functioning. In January I had the brakes looked at because they are squealing anytime you use them. The brake shop I took it to told me this is a known issue and the brakes are fine and that there was no way to stop the squealing because my brakes still had 80% of their pad. On multiple occasions when I’ve need to brake hard quickly the car had felt like it was shaking and the brakes didn’t feel like they were catching. Vehicle is currently at Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington Texas and has been there since August 25th.

The vehicle’s radiator developed a coolant leak that was discovered and confirmed by the dealership during a routine oil change, tire rotation and state inspection. There were no warning lights, warning messages prior to the dealership discovering the leak. The radiator required replacement. The dealership also told me that they had the replacement radiator on hand because this type of radiator failure had been occurring fairly often with this type of vehicle. The radiator failure presented a potential safety concern because a coolant leak can worsen without warning and result in a sudden loss of coolant, engine overheating, or vehicle breakdown while driving. Because there were no warning lamps or other symptoms before the leak was discovered, we may not have had any indication that the cooling system was failing. The problem was confirmed by the dealership during inspection, and the dealership determined that the radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle/component was inspected by the dealership. No manufacturer, police, or insurance inspection has occurred, to my knowledge. There were no warning lamps, messages, overheating, or other noticeable symptoms prior to the dealership finding the leak. The vehicle is only three years old, with 39000 miles on it at the time of the failure. I am reporting this because a radiator failure at such a young vehicle age, particularly one that develops without any warning to the driver, could potentially create a safety hazard if the coolant loss becomes severe while the vehicle is being operated. I’ve seen many complaints in online forums that this is an ongoing issue with these radiators used by Chevy. It seems the replacement radiators are having the same issues. It was discovered using the Kelley Blue Book/Experian that in 2022 vehicle was listed for sale with mileage of 57,705, and in 2023 same vehicle was listed with 23 miles.

The digital odometer and speedometer screen intermittently crashes and goes completely black for 15 to 20 seconds while the vehicle is in motion on public roads. This creates an immediate safety hazard as I am left with zero knowledge of my current speed. General Motors has acknowledged this specific software stability bug under Technical Service Bulletin 22-NA-023 but refuses to fix the issue due to the vehicle being 9 days past its 3-year calendar warranty, despite having only 32,400 miles." I contacted your GM agent @ 800-222-1020 and was told its out of warranty sorry, that is horrible service espeacially for a safety issue and a 55,000 vechicle that only has 32,400 miles

Re: Vehicle Safety Defect Complaint – 2023 Chevrolet Blazer To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting a formal safety defect complaint regarding my 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. This vehicle has exhibited multiple system failures that present a serious risk to driver safety and public roadway safety. The vehicle was purchased new on July 20, 2023. Beginning on April 21, 2025, at approximately 27,610 miles, the vehicle developed a progressive defect initially presenting as oil-related issues. Despite multiple repair attempts, the condition worsened and required a full engine replacement in January 2026. Following the engine replacement, the vehicle continued to experience critical safety failures, including engine stalling, reduced engine power warnings, and electronic stability control (ESC) alerts. On April 26, 2026, the vehicle experienced a driver assistance system malfunction in which it attempted to steer off the roadway. I was forced to manually disable the system to maintain control of the vehicle. On April 27, 2026, the vehicle exhibited a fuel system failure, including fuel leakage and fuel odor, along with multiple simultaneous warning indicators: • Reduced Engine Power • Service ESC • Steering Assist Reduced / Drive with Care • Power assist driver system disabled This combination of failures presents both a fire hazard and a loss-of-control risk. Additionally, I was informed by the dealership that a high-pressure fuel line, a one-time-use component, was not replaced during the engine installation. This raises concerns regarding improper repair and continued unsafe operation of the vehicle. The vehicle has undergone multiple repair attempts and a major powertrain replacement, yet continues to present serious safety concerns. Due to these ongoing issues, I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for potential safety defects that may impact other vehicles of the same make and model.

There some type of oil or grease stains where the cv axle goes into transmission. ive felt my vehicle with less power and pulls to the left. Took the vehicle to chevrolet and they said they couldnt duplicate the issue or the oil leak.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear, which can result in the driver-side half-shaft disengaging from the transmission.
Solution : Dealers will replace the sun gears, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2023. The remedy is expected to become available August 31, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GMC's number for this recall is N222389310.
