On June 29th, 2023 at approximately 8:45 AM we were pulling into a parking space slowly tapping the brakes to slow and stop the vehicle. About 2/3 of the way into the parking stall around 3 or 4 feet from the curb, the vehicle actually accelerated while pressing the brake jumping the curb. We pressed on the brakes again and the car accelerated even faster crossing the sidewalk crashing into a building. We believe the brakes caused the SUA (Sudden Unintended Acceleration) accelerating the vehicle twice and the vehicle failed to apply the brakes. We believe this would've been caused by a computer error on the vehicle. We also believe the vehicle to initiate the two safety systems failed, Crash Imminent Braking & Dynamic Brake Support thus being able to avoid the accident. To the best of our knowledge, no warnings or alerts were displayed on the vehicle before the crash. We had BMW inspect the vehicle and no defective part was found and the black box indicated the vehicle was accelerating a few seconds before the crash. We do not disagree with this and informed BMW that the car was accelerating on it's own.

The contact owns a 2023 BMW X7. The contact stated that after placing the vehicle in reverse with the back-up assist feature activated, the vehicle struck the other vehicle behind. The contact stated that the automatic brake assist feature failed to operate as designed, causing the vehicle to strike the rear tire of the other vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle was able to stop. There was no damage to the other vehicle. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was able to schedule an appointment. Additionally, the contact was concerned about water on the screen and a possible electrical fire after the vehicle had gone through the car wash. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The failure mileage was 200.

I am requesting that BMW North America open a formal Customer Relations case regarding a front differential failure on my 2023 BMW X7 M60i. At approximately 60,000 miles, I began experiencing a whining/howling noise that increased with vehicle speed, along with a metallic grinding noise from the front drivetrain area. The vehicle was subsequently diagnosed, and during the diagnostic process the front differential fluid was drained and inspected. A significant amount of metal shavings and metallic debris was found in the differential oil, indicating internal component wear. I have photographs documenting the contaminated fluid and metal particles. As an initial attempt to address the issue, the front differential fluid was replaced. However, the fluid change did not improve the condition or eliminate the noises. Due to the continued symptoms and evidence of internal wear, the front differential ultimately required replacement. I am particularly concerned because this vehicle has been serviced exclusively by BMW since new and maintained in accordance with BMW's recommended maintenance schedule. To my knowledge, front differential fluid service is not included in BMW's standard maintenance program or service recommendations for this vehicle. As a result, I relied upon BMW's maintenance requirements and had no reason to believe additional preventative service was necessary. This X7 M60i is also our third BMW vehicle. The failure of a major drivetrain component on a properly maintained vehicle at approximately 60,000 miles was both unexpected and disappointing. I respectfully request that BMW North America review the diagnosis, repair records, and supporting photographs; determine whether similar failures have been reported on comparable X7 M60i vehicles; consider goodwill reimbursement for the front differential replacement; and conduct an engineering review of this failure for future tracking and analysis.

On May 28, 2025, my 2023 BMW X7 underwent BMW recall B340224. Repair Order 669956 specifically states: “0077067 REPLACING INTEGRATED BRAKING SYSTEM.” After this recall repair and replacement of the Integrated Braking System, the vehicle began experiencing abnormal and potentially dangerous braking behavior that did not exist before the recall repair. The brake pedal can initially feel unusually soft or have excessive travel, followed by sudden and aggressive braking. In slow traffic and stop-and-go driving, the brakes can also feel as if they are sticking or not releasing normally, causing the vehicle to jerk when stopping or starting. The problem is significantly worse in hot weather and heavy traffic. After approximately 10 miles of highway driving, the braking behavior may temporarily improve. I have repeatedly reported that these symptoms began after BMW replaced the Integrated Braking System under recall B340224. Despite multiple service visits and substantial repairs, the safety problem remains unresolved. Most importantly, I have repeatedly asked BMW to investigate the Integrated Braking System that was replaced under the recall as the possible source of the problem. BMW has not properly investigated or addressed that component despite the clear timing between the recall repair and the onset of the braking symptoms. Most recently, the vehicle was left with the BMW dealer for approximately one week regarding this continuing safety complaint, but no repair or meaningful inspection of the Integrated Braking System was performed before I retrieved the vehicle. The vehicle and the replaced braking system remain available for inspection. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the Integrated Braking System replacement performed under recall B340224, or the recall remedy itself, may be related to this continuing braking safety defect.

The mechatronics unit failed in the automatic transmission. Vehicle was no longer in gear causing it to stall, and drivetrain warning message was produced. This happened twice in the same day July 6th 2026. BMW was contacted, they retrieved the vehicle. Since the problem was intermittent they scanned the vehicle logs and sent to BMW North America for diagnosis. Initial repair was reprogram. During the test drive vehicle stalled directly out side of dealership and was pushed back in. On July 20th vehicle was diagnosed with a failed mechatronics unit which controls the transmission internally. Repair was authorized and vehicle returned on July 25th. During a test drive I asked the lead technician if this was a common failure, he stated this is the third repair of this nature they have performed. After some research this part was responsible for a stop delivery order on other vehicles manufactured during certain build dates.

My [XXX] wife and I drove to a cardiac doctors appointment having just had a [XXX]. Upon arriving the passenger side door would not unlock. Tried opening with the interior door handle and it would still not open. Tried exterior door handle and could not open. Contacted BMW emergency they tried to remotely open did not work. Called dealership they said to try double pulling interior handle twice which of course we had already tried still wouldn’t open. MY WIFE WAS TRAPPED WITH NO WAY TO GET OUT decided to try driving to dealership rather than calling fire department. Upon arriving the service provider tried to open but couldn’t do so. All this time my wife is sitting there with no way out other than trying to literally drag her over the center console which would cause her great pain. The service provider asked us to wait until a mechanic got off lunch and hoped that he could help otherwise she said 911 would have to be called. When mechanic arrived he couldn’t open and said that he also couldn’t open door panel because door has to be open to do so. The interior door handle was frozen so he decided to pull with great force and a horrible breaking noise was made and the door finally opened. The estimate to repair was $2320.00. With great effort from my service provider and an assist from the dealership itself BMW agreed to pay most of bill and only charged for parts $94.33 which I paid. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY VIOLATION. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SHOULD NOT LOCK UP AND BECOME NON OPERATIONAL .HAD THERE BEEN A FIRE OR UNDERWATER THERE WAS NO ESCAPE FOR MY WIFE. This is a 2023 BMW X7 61000 miles no accidents perfect condition INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has a glare issue affecting the side mirrors, which impacts visibility while driving. The glare appears to be caused by reflective chrome trim on the dashboard near the air vent, which reflect light into the side mirrors under certain lighting conditions. this creates a safety concern and affects my ability to comfortably and confidently operate the vehicle. the issue has been demonstrated to the dealership on multiple occasions, including prior to June 17th, but does not appear to have been fully documented or resolved. i have also observed similar reflection behavior in other BMW vehicles once pointed out, suggesting this may be related to design or materials rather than an isolated issue. "This occurs intermittently depending on sun angle/lighting conditions",

We are the original Owner of a 2023 BMW X7 with 17,500 miles. The past 2+ months the screen/display will go blank for up to 30 seconds while driving the vehicle. Obviously this is a serious safety issue. We took the vehicle for service where it was originally purchased at BMW I will say, this issue is very disappointing, scary, and disturbing. The vehicle was originally brought into service on 7/3 and no resolution for the problem has been presented as of yet. According to the Service Advisor, multiple software updates have been applied and the screen/display has been replaced twice, still no resolution. Brought back into Dealership on 7/23/2025 for the same repeated and dangerous issue Brought back again on 8/3/2025 for the same repeated issue. We were promised it was fixed. Drove the car 4 hours, and once again the screen/display went blank.
