AS I WAS GETTING CLOSER TO AN INTERSECTION, THAT WAS RED, AND IN FEAR OF GETTING HIT CAUSE THE GAS WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN I SLAMMED ON BRAKES AND HOPED IT WOULD STOP THE CAR BUT THE CAR LOST CONTROL HIT A CURB AND HIT A FIRE HYDRANT IN THE FRONT MIDDLE OF CAR, THE CAR FLIPPED OVER AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. A prior recall that was supposedly fixed, broke again. Submitted several complaints with Nhtsa and Volkswagen. Volkswagen said i had to pay a fee to verify what was wrong with my vehicle because the recall had already been fixed before. Months of waiting and waiting for an appointment and then vw would still not refix the recall. So years and years went by before the recall was recalled and vw sent out notice. Only to schedule you vehicle for service months out and then call and cancel because there is a shortage of parts and no known time in getting them. Anyways the recalled recall is an air bag spring that caused all of my vehicles "functions" to stop working. No horn, no steering wheel button functions, no computer functions. And during this time of not having my vehicles safety features... I was involved in a collision where my horn would have probably been a lifesaver and a vehicle saver had I had it
The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while stopped at a yield sign, the contact was rear-ended by another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags partially deployed upon impact which resulted in the contact hitting her head on the steering wheel. The contact later went to the hospital where she was treated for whiplash and a concussion. A police report was filed. Due to the failure, the contact could not use any of the electrical features on the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that her air bag failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V834000(Air Bags); however, once the recall was serviced, the contact was informed that the recall was related to the air bag inflator, not the actual air bag. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
In 2022 I was in an accident on the highway; a dear hit my car while I was traveling at 70 MPH. My airbags did not deploy and I ended up hitting my head on the driver side window really hard and it gave me a concussion and I injured one of the disks in my back. I almost got hit by semi trucks traveling behind me as well. Again, my airbags didn’t deploy after this and I’ve seen many recalls on the 2014 VW Passat specifically about the vehicles airbag deployment being that they’re also Takata airbags that had major recalls too. They should’ve deployed on a head on collision. My insurance didn’t total my car but I have proof that the entire frame was bent from the accident and my entire front headlight, fender and bumper are smashed in and wires for my transmission were severed. I still haven't settled this claim yet. I’m considering getting a lawyer about it.

Hi , My 2014 Passat driven by a family member struck a parked truck. Luckily, nobody was hurt! The parked car was not occupied and the driver of the Passat was able to exit the vehicle unharmed. The speed was about 35 mph and the air bags deployed. This front collision resulted in a major fire that totally destroyed the car. The insurance company (Progressive) is currently in the possession of the car. And one other important thing to note is that, about 2 years ago, this car was also involved in a different accident when it reared a car. That collision did not result in the deployment of the air bags but caused lots of damage. The radiator and lots of the plastic in the front needed replacement at that time. I don't recall the exact amount for the damage, but we ended up paying the full 2k deductible to get the car back.

AFTER THIS INCIDENT IT WENT TO 'MINUTEMAN VOLKSWAGEN' JUST OUTSIDE OF BOSTON, WHERE THE ISSUE WAS STILL NOT ABLE TO BE RESOLVED. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED OUT OF POCKET TO A VOLKWAGEN DEALERSHIP IN PITTSBURGH WHERE A NEW ELECTRONICS UNIT WAS PUT IN. I WAS ASSURED AFTER THIS ELECTRONIC UNIT WAS INSTALLED, MY CAR WOULD BE BACK TO NORMAL, AS THIS WAS NOT AN ENGINE ISSUE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TODAY I RECEIVE A CALL INFORMING ME THAT THE ELECTRONICS UNIT WAS INSTALLED AND IT TURNS OUT THAT IT IS, IN FACT, AN ENGINE ISSUE. I WAS IN SERIOUS DANGER AT THE TIME MY ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. MY FAMILY HAS FUNDS AND ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO TAKE WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. MY MOTHER DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN 2018 IN A CAR ADVERTISING EXCEPTIONAL SAFETY (JUST LIKE THIS ONE). IT HAS PROVIDED ME WITH THE OPPOSITE. The driver's side frontal air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2020 Volkswagen Passat and 2018-2019 Atlas vehicles. The blocking cap disabling the adjustment of the headlight's horizontal aim may not have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The vehicle's underbody heat shield may not be long enough to protect the right half-shaft grease boot from heat, potentially resulting in a grease leak.

Due to improperly assembled wire seals in a connector for an underbody sensor, water may enter and corrode the electrical connectors of the sensor, causing an electrical short.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge.
