The contact owned a 2024 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH a second vehicle traveling at speeds above 80 MPH crashed into the rear end of the vehicle. During the crash no air bags inside the vehicle deployed. The front driver sustained injuries to the back, neck, and right wrist and the front passenger sustained injuries to the back, neck, and left wrist. Both required medical treatment. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed and later towed away. A police report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,200.
Steering becomes tight and “feels to lock up” with no control. Happened 2 times previously, 3rd time resulted in a crash.
This request is due to my concern that a possible manufacturing or other defect in the 2024 Nissan Altima’s steering and/or wheel mechanisms caused a sudden loss of steering control and resulted in a collision and serious injuries. The car was taken possession by National Car Rental. I am unsure if the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others, but it has been reported to the manufacturer (Nissan), my insurance company (State Farm), and the car rental company (National). I don't think there were any warning lights. The following is what I experienced. I was driving, passengers were in the front and rear right seats. The car was in the right lane on [XXX] heading into an underpass when the Altima experienced a sudden jolt in the steering wheel with smoke coming out of the steering wheel; steering turned very stiff as if it had lost power and the car pulled to the right and off the road. I struggled to maintain control over the vehicle; nonetheless, given the narrow shoulder of the underpass and the sudden difficult steering, the car collided lengthwise along the passenger side against a cement barrier and metal guardrail. The front and back passenger-side airbags deployed, striking both passengers; rear seat passenger was seriously injured; driver and front passenger were bruised. I went to stop at a stop sign and the breaks didn’t not work causing a collision, prior to I heard a loud clinking noise and my car smelled like burning rubber. Blind spot didn’t not light up accurately or notify me correctly.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the contact received third-degree burns to the buttocks from the driver’s side seat warmer. The contact was in a wheelchair due to the burns, and medical attention was required. A dealer was contacted and requested to open the vehicle seats. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,073.
Driving on the freeway and I noticed smoke coming from under the hood so I pulled over and didn't know what caused the fire
The vehicle was unknowingly purchased with an improperly assembled braking system from which is formally known as Koeppel Nissan. The braking assembly failed during operation, resulting in loss of proper braking capability and causing a collision. The braking failure created a serious safety risk to the myself (the driver) and others on the roadway. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or other indicators prior to the braking failure. The issue with the braking assembly was not identified at the time of purchase and when the vehicle was returned to Koeppel Nissan to have cosmetic damages fixed. A request was made to thoroughly check of the braking system. After repairs, Koeppel Nissan assured there were no issues with braking system. It was discovered months afterward by Thruway Nissan dealership that the rear rotor pads were mismatched and the driver rear pad was installed upside down. The issue was viewed by a Thruway Nissan service technician, who identified the improper braking assembly. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan Motor Corporation Consumer Affairs for this issue but has been reported. The vehicle and the braking system components are available for inspection upon request.
This incident happened twice in one week first with 2023 Nissan Sentra then replaced with a 2024 Nissan Altima both rented from Enterprise. I was traveling down the street from my house, a two-lane, steep hillside road, which I’ve traveled up and down for 30 years. I stopped behind a parked car on the right side of the road to let another car come up the hill and pass by before I continued down. As I continued down the hill, the car just began to accelerate and I could not stop it, I tried to break, but no response and the car kept accelerating for about 50 feet before crashing into. the granite hillside, lifting the car so it landed perpendicular to the road, setting off all airbags and blocking all traffic completely. Thankfully there was no other damage to other cars, homes or people, which was a minor miracle. To reach such an impact speed in such short distance suggests some kind of mechanical failure. My insurance paid for a replacement rental, a 2024 Altima and on my first drive down the hill, in the exact same spot, the steepest of the road, the exact thing happened, rapid acceleration and no breaks.
On [XXX], I was involved in a major accident while driving my 2024 Nissan Altima SV. I was traveling at approximately 20 mph when another vehicle hit my vehicle from front right coming at a speed of not less than 80 mph. The impact was significant enough that it totaled my car. The accident took place near [XXX] . Despite the severity of the collision, none of the airbags deployed—including the front and side curtain airbags. I and front passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time. The lack of airbag deployment in a crash of this magnitude presents a serious safety concern and a potential defect in the SRS. The vehicle is still under its original factory warranty, and there were no warning lights or prior faults reported in the airbag system before the crash. This raises serious concerns about the reliability of the vehicle’s safety systems. It is still not yet inspected by Nissan yet. I’m reporting this in the interest of public safety and to urge investigation into the possibility of a defective airbag system in this vehicle. I am also in communication with Nissan, for this. I believe this matter deserves full investigation and potential recall action if other vehicles may be affected. The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Altima. While driving for Uber, a customer alerted the contact of an abnormally strong odor in the rear seats of the vehicle. The contact later discovered that there was white mold inside the trunk of the vehicle and the spare tire compartment which was caused by the filament used to seal the liners in the trunk and rear seats. The contact was concerned about the health risk. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle and closing the door, the rear windshield shattered spontaneously. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. Component/System Failure: Front driver's seatback cover assembly (Nissan Part Number: 87650-9HB2B). The factory structural stitching on the center backrest panel is actively unraveling and separating. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The seatback cover serves as the structural envelope for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Side-Impact Airbag. Because the structural factory stitching has failed, the engineered tension of the airbag housing unit is compromised. A unravelling cover cannot ensure the precise breakaway path required for the side airbag to deploy correctly. This structural defect poses a severe safety liability, risking delayed deployment, non-deployment, or improper trajectory of a critical safety restraint during a collision. Inspections by Others & Dealer Confirmation: The physical separation of the stitching was presented to and verified by an authorized manufacturer dealership (Hubler Nissan) on April 21, 2026. The dealership acknowledged the physical failure of the stitching but refused to perform a factory-certified repair. Nissan's warranty claims the restraint system is covered for 60,000 miles, yet the dealership officially advised me to take the vehicle to a third-party, non-certified local shop ("Dr. Vinyl") to repair the structural housing of an active explosive device. This creates an unacceptable safety liability for both the vehicle occupants and Nissan. Warning Lamps & Prior History: No active dashboard SRS warning lamps are illuminated, as the fault is a physical structural breakdown rather than an electrical failure. The issue first appeared prior to 36,000 miles and continues to progressively worsen.
I came home to the glass shattered on the rear windshield of the car. It was buckled up but in pieces. Some of the class has been removed. If driving and this happened it could have caused an accident. Called dealer they said to file a case with Nissan
When the vehicle is put in reverse, the screen for the rear camera goes completely blank. This is a known defect with many Nissan vehicles, to which Nissan has issued numerous recalls to address this exact issue. However, the year, make, and model of my vehicle has not been included in any of Nissan’s recalls.
