steering wheel locked up while driving causing vehicle to run off the Hwy. vehicle flipped causing injuries
I was driving to work as I normally would from the University I attend. About half way to my destination the check engine light illuminated and right when I was about to find a safe place to stop the car abruptly stopped in the middle of the Highway and stalled on one of the most dangerous highways in the U.S. being US I-20. I almost immediately got hit from behind however a few vehicles behind me did get involved into an accident due to the my car stopping abruptly with little warning. I called hyundai immediately and asked for a tow driver however the wait time was excessive and I had to go to work. I was able to start the car after 20 minutes, but it was in limp mode and I pulled off to the side of the road and had to uber to work. The next day I had got a tow truck to pick up my car and take it to the dealership where they said the car had accidentally triggered the knock sensor by mistake and replaced it free of charge. However the very next day it happened again after driving about 30 miles. And I took it back to the dealer they offered the same thing a replacement sensor. When I did some research and the car actually needed a new Engine after a recall had been placed. Hyundai refused to replace the engine after the knock sensor deployed. This is Hyundai's issue and it needs to be addressed. I was forced to put the car on the side of my house for the time being and get a rental until I could afford another vehicle. This is very disappointing from a consumers point of view. I filed with the extended warranty campaign TXXC and got denied due to the amount of miles on the vehicle. However there was no warning before the engine failed. The car was very well maintained and had regular Oil changes with full synthetic oil every 5k miles. No precursors to the engine failing occurred, like a knocking or jerking or anything. This is an issue that hyundai need to address. I am very disappointed. Campaign reference number for my case 17507525.

My car had been in and out of dealership going through oil consumption testing. Was at dealership on Monday June 19th having more pictures as well as dropping oil pan etc. I was told Friday June 23 2023 car would be ready they were checking a seal to make sure it didn’t leak. I picked car up brought it home went out of town with my fiancée in his vehicle. Drove my car on Monday June 26th to work when I got off I picked my granddaughter and mother up. Drove home and 5 minutes of being inside my car exploded in my driveway. I did receive 1st degree burns was treated at my local ER.
The car caught fire. I only had the car for 3 weeks. I had just started the car for work. There were no warning lights on. If some unknown guy have not told me to get out my car i would had died.
Power steering assist failed upon making a right hand turn. Steering failure led to an injury accident. Vehicle was inspected by Green Light Auto and EDR codes retrieved. No codes specific to steering was found. Vehicle was inspected by insurance adjustor. No warning lights or other indications of steering loss was present before the accident caused by the steering loss. Issue seems similar to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000

ON DEC,.21ST, 2017 I ENTERED A BUSINESS PARKING LOT AT LOW SPEED AS ONE WOULD ENTER A PARKING LOT AND WITHIN A FEW FEET TURNED RIGHT TO ENTER AN AISLE BETWEEN 2 ROWS OF PARKED CARS. AT THE SECOND RIGHT I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW BUT REALIZED MY CAR WAS NOT SLOWING, MAYBE EVEN ACCELERATING AND THEN, HORRIFIED, REALIZED MY EFFORTS TO SLOW OR STOP WERE FUTILE! I SWERVED TO MISS A PERSON AND FISHTAILED HITTING A BUMPER OF AN UNOCCUPIED CAR. BY THEN I WAS NEARLY T-BONE TO MANY CARS ON A BUSY STREET. STILL NOT ABLE TO STOP I MADE AN ABRUPT TURN TO THE RIGHT AND WAS FORTUNATE (YES, FORTUNATE) TO HIT A RETAINING WALL AROUND BUSINESS SIGNS IN ORDER TO STOP THE CAR. THRU THESE FRANTIC VERY FEW SECONDS AS I WAS TRYING TO STOP, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, I COULDN'T PUMP IT AS ONE WOULD EXPECT TO DO AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE ACCELERATING. MY CHOICE CAME DOWN TO HIT MANY OCCUPIED CARS ON THE STREET OR TURN AND HIT THE RETAINING WALL. AGAIN, HOW FORTUNATE IT WAS THERE!! AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY; THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. THIS IS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. COULD IT BE THAT OTHER DRIVERS OF THE HYUNDAI 2015 SONATA HAVE NOT LIVED TO TELL WHAT HAPPENED?
