ON 8/5/15 APPROXIMATELY 7:10 PM, I WAS DRIVING HIGHWAY 37 TOWARDS VALLEJO. IT WAS ONE LANE HIGHWAY, MARSH LAND ON THE RIGHT AND CONCRETE BLOCK ON THE LEFT. A MAROON VAN LOST CONTROL, BUMPED INTO MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND HIT US FROM THE BEHIND. OUR ODYSSEY MINIVAN HAD A COSTCO SIZE IGLOO ICE CHEST, COMPUTER TOTE, AND A PLASTIC CRATE IN THE TRUNK, BUT IT WAS CRUSHED TO THE BACK ROW SEATS. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT AND PASSENGER. DUE TO THE FACT THAT FRONT AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY, I HIT MY HEAD AND NECK FROM FRONT AND BACK MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE CRUSH. I HAD PAIN IN MY NECK AND HEAD IMMEDIATELY, AND I WAS TRANSPORTED TO KAISER PARMANENTE HOSPITAL. I WAS DISCHARGED NEXT DAY, BUT DUE TO THE CONCUSSION I HAVE BEEN SUFFERED BY MASSIVE, PAINFUL HEADACHE AND NAUSEA. THE BACK OF OUR MINIVAN WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED WITH THIS UNSPEAKABLE FORCE. IF I WERE DRIVING 6 INCHES SLOWER, TWO CHILDREN WHO WERE SITTING IN THE VERY BACK ROW WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE FRONT AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED TO SAVE ME FROM INJURY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND LET US KNOW WHY THE FRONT AIR BAG OF OUR HONDA ODYSSEY DID NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD BE. THANK YOU. *TR

I WAS INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON 6/23/2013. THE PERSON IN FRONT OF THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED AT A GREEN LIGHT. THE PERSON BEHIND THAT PERSON SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND I, IN TURN, HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IN TIME AND CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF HER CAR. I WAS DOING BETWEEN 15-20 WHEN I HIT HER AND MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIRBAG LIGHTS LIT UP FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER, BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. BECAUSE OF THIS I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AS THE POLICE OFFICER DETERMINED THE VAN WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MODERATE TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY STOPPED AT AN OFF-RAMP. I PUSHED MY BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE FEELING THE BRAKES ENGAGE AT ALL. IT APPEARED THAT I HAD ENOUGH DISTANCE TO STOP, BUT MY CAR CONTINUED TO SLIDE INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, AND WE WERE SURPRISED TO HAVE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYING IN OUR FACES AS WE HIT THE OTHER CAR. THAT CAR THEN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. ALL 3 CARS WERE UNDRIVABLE. THE OTHER TWO DRIVERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE, WHILE MY DAUGHTER AND I HAD PAIN FOR 1-2 WEEKS FOLLOWING. I DROVE ANOTHER CAR WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP, AND WAS SHOCKED AT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAKING. DRIVING THE HONDA EVERY DAY, I DID NOT NOTICE THE CHANGES IN BRAKE FUNCTIONING OVER TIME. I LITERALLY HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE BRAKES TO WORK. I JUST HAD THE BRAKE RECALL PERFORMED, AND NOTICE A DRASTIC DIFFERENCE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND IN HOW LITTLE I HAVE TO PUSH ON THE PEDAL NOW TO GET THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA THAT THE SOFT BRAKES WOULD HAVE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE TO DO WITH ACTUAL BRAKE FUNCTIONING. *TR

MY 21 MONTH OLD CHILD WAS STANDING AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE IN OUR GARAGE AS I GOT THINGS OUT OF THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO CLOSING THE DOOR. I PUSHED THE BUTTON THAT AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES THE DOOR AS I LEANED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE TO RETRIEVE ITEMS FROM THE VEHICLE. I HEARD MY CHILD SCREAMING AND I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THAT THE DOOR HAD CLOSED ON HER ENTIRE HAND UP TO HER WRIST. NOT ONLY DID THE SAFETY FEATURE FAIL THAT IS SUPPOSE TO DETECT BODY PARTS IN THE PATH OF THE DOOR, BUT THE DOOR ALSO WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO USE ALL OF MY BODY WEIGHT TO PRY THE DOOR OFF OF HER HAND. THIS INCIDENT RESULTED IN A BLOODY AND BRUISED FINGER THAT HAD THE NAIL RIPPED OF IT. *TR

HONDA ODYSSEY 2010 GRAB BAR CAUSED TODDLER TO BREAK LEG. TWO YEAR OLD WAS IN HER CAR SEAT BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. SHE PUT HER FOOT ON TOP OF THE GRAB BAR BEHIND THE SEAT, HER SHOE (SIZE 7 1/5) CAUGHT, SHE PULLED AND THE FORCE BROKE HER LEG. THIS HAPPENED IN THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO OPEN THE DOOR AND GET INTO THE CAR. I THINK THAT IF THE GRAB BAR WAS SHAPED DIFFERENTLY (THICKER BAR PART AND NARROWER HOLE ) THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control module contains incorrect deployment parameters for the side and head airbags, which could cause them to deploy inadvertently when the vehicle experiences road impacts. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

Due to a faulty circuit board in the passenger seat weight sensor, the passenger seat’s occupant detection system may identify a Steering Wheel Sensor (SWS) error and the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) warning light could switch on. This can cause a faulty triggering of the airbags, creating a risk of injuries for a child occupying the passenger seat. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
