Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2007-2012 Audi Q7 and 2009-2012 Audi Q5 vehicles, previously repaired under NHTSA recall 16V-660. These vehicles were previously repaired with an interim repair of installing butyl tape to the fuel pump flange, until replacement remedy parts became available.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump flange and install butyl tape, free of charge. The recall began December 28, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20BJ.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Audi Q5, and 2007-2012 Audi Q7 vehicles equipped with gasoline engines. The fuel pump flange on the affected vehicles may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the flange, replacing any flanges that are cracked. If the flange is not cracked, dealers will clean the pump flange and install a butyl rubber band to protect the pump. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2016. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20W9.
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE AUTOMATIC REAR LID INCLUDES AN ELECTRIC MOTOR AND CLUTCH THAT WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH TWO GAS STRUTS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE REAR LID, INCLUDING A MANUAL CLOSE FUNCTION. IF ONE OF THE STRUTS HAS A TOTAL LOSS OF PRESSURE, THE RESULTANT SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE REAR LID IS INTERPRETED BY THE SOFTWARE AS AN INTENDED MANUAL CLOSE AND THE MOTOR CLUTCH RELEASES TO CLOSE THE REAR LID IMMEDIATELY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834.

NOT VERY HAPPY OF THE SAFETY PROBLEM THAT THIS LUXURY 2007 AUDI Q7 VEHICLE HAS BY NOT DEPLOYING THE FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY TO MY FAMILY DURING THE ACCIDENT. WHILE I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE MY HOME'S GARAGE ON MY 2007 AUDI Q7 (3.6L GAS) SUV, I PUT REVERSE GEAR, WITH MY RIGHT FOOT IN THE BRAKE AS USUAL. AT THAT POINT MY 4 YEAR-OLD SON STARTED CRYING AND SPITTING UP A LOT OF SALIVA WITH BUBBLE GUM, SO I TURNED BACK AND TOOK IT WITH MY RIGHT HAND. I DID NOT PUT THE GEAR IN PARK BECAUSE MY RIGHT HAND WAS FULL OF SALIVA (NOW I REALIZE THAT I COULD HAVE DONE IT WITH MY LEFT HAND BUT AT THAT TIME I GUESS IT WAS NOT NATURAL DOING IT THAT WAY), SO I OPENED THE DOOR WITH MY LEFT HAND AND PUT MY LEFT FOOT ON THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO PARTIALLY SLIDE OUTWARDS TO THROW THE SALIVA AWAY (WHICH WAS IN MY RIGHT HAND). AT THIS POINT MY RIGHT FOOT LET GO THE BRAKE JUST A LITTLE AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED GOING BACKWARDS. AS MY LEFT FOOT WAS ON THE FLOOR, I TRIPPED AND STARTING FALLING ON THE GARAGE'S FLOOR AS THE CAR WAS MOVING BACKWARDS. AT THIS POINT MY RIGHT FOOT LET GO THE BRAKE COMPLETELY AND THE CAR STARTED GOING BACKWARDS FASTER, AT AN UNREASONABLE FAST RATE! THE FRONT WHEEL ALMOST CRASHED MY BODY AND MY LEFT LEG GOT SEVERAL SCRATCHES AS IT CRASHED AGAINST THE OPEN DOOR RIPPING OFF ALL ITS PLASTIC COVER. WITH MY RIGHT FOOT STILL ON THE CAR'S FLOOR AND MY LEFT HAND GRABBING THE DOOR HANDLE, AND LOT OF ADRENALINE HELPING, I COULD SLIGHTLY SLIDE MY RIGHT FOOT INSIDE ENOUGH TO PUSH THE BRAKE AND MAKE THE CAR STOP. MY POINTS ARE: 1) THE CAR STARTED GOING BACKWARDS VERY FAST BY JUST RELEASING THE BRAKE; CARS SHOULD MOVE SLOWER, AT A LIMITED SPEED, IF THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT PUSHED. 2) THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY FEATURE PREVENTING CARS FROM MOVING (EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARDS) IF (A) THE DOOR IS OPEN, AND/OR (B) IF THERE IS NO DRIVER SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT (LIKE THE ONE IN PASSENGER AIRBAGS THAT ARE INACTIVE WHEN THERE'S NO PASSENGER). TURNED ON THE CAR AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES SMOKE FILLED UP THE WHOLE CAR. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR WIPER FROM THE INSIDE. SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE WIPER MOTOR BUT CAN'T TELL UNTIL I TAKE THE PLASTIC COVER OFF. STARTED SMOKING IMMEDIATELY EVERY TIME I TURNED THE CAR ON, TESTED IT A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES. STRANGE CARAMEL COLORED RESIDUE LEFT ON THE BACK WINDOW FROM THE INSIDE. SMELLS TERRIBLE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY THE WHOLE TOME AND PARKED IN A NEIGHBORHOOD. SURPRISED A FIRE DIDN'T START BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF SMOKE. SOME RESEARCH ON THIS SAYING SOME PEOPLE HAD AN ACTUAL FIRE INSIDE THE CAR.
Vehicle was difficult to stop as power assist to braking system did not seem to be working
STRONG SMELL OF GAS WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE. ALSO STRONG SMELL OF GAS WHILE PARKED. GETTING WORSE!!! LOOKED UP THIS ISSUE ON YOU TUBE. FOUND THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN AUDI Q7 YEARS 2007-2012. I OWN AN AUDI 2007 Q7. CALLED NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH REPAIR DEPARTMENT. THEY STATED THIS WAS AN ISSUE NOT ON A RECALL LIST FOR MY VEHICLE. The vehicle is leaking fuel like it did before the recall in 2016. Fuel puddle under car after sitting for 3 minutes huge safety problem. The recall was done 9 years after the car was sold and it’s been 9 years since the recall was done and the problem came back, meaning it was never actually fixed, since it lasted the exact same time it took to break the first time.
The contact owns a 2007 Audi Q7. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle stalled intermittently, and failed to return to normal operation. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was self-diagnosed by the contact, and the contact determined that the steering column lock module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,000.
Water leakage into the driver’s side floor panel. Water leakage seeped into battery compartment below driver’s seat which is a result of a sunroof drain problem. New Battery was installed for only 3 months before the low battery charge warning light came on. Car will not start at times. Water leakage into electrical components that lead to the MMI not turning on or working at all. The MMI shut off first, then the battery became faulty. The car has been jumped at least 10 times due to the water damage, which proposes a risk to the driver. The electrical components are being flooded, which is a safety issue and proposes a safety hazard to the driver and all passengers. The electrical is at risk for further damage. This problem has been reported by others many times. Other warning lights such as the air bag light comes on and goes off, which is a safety risk if the air bags are faulty and the driver cannot tell if the malfunction is electronics based caused by water damage.
This started happening in the last 2 mos. My MMI started acting up, it first displayed radio not installed, then it would stall and not show anything on screen, then it came back on to regular showing but then went out again and displaying radio not installed. Then at one point I was able to play my CDs but not my radio. Then finally the complete system went out, now the screen only shows the MMI logo and will not turn on and cant not be reset. So as this has happen, my fuel tank area started to drips tiny drops of gas only happens when I drove it, so now it is leaking even more fuel so I have it sitting in drive way until I get it into the shop. While its been sitting in the drive way for the last 2 weeks, I would occasionally start it but this last time I started it my battery went dead and it started leaking even more gas after I got it jumped. As long as it is not on it does not leak gas.
there is a gas odor that is overwhelming when the truck starts. the gas mix with oil fumes will cause headaches because the odor comes into the vents of the truck and does not stop until after the truck is turned off. when the vehicle is turned off there is a hissing sound in the engine that does not stop until after 15min the engine stays off. There is no overheating but the engine is hotter then most trucks when running.
This is a known typical problem with these suvs. Rear sunroof drain leaks directly onto amplifier causing electrical issues throughout the entire vehicle. My vehicle actually filled up with smoke when it dried the amplifier. All mmi functions are lost. Why has this not been fixed by Audi on their dime. Dealer wants almost $4000 to fix the problem. What does it take to get a recall for this. An electrical fire or loss of life? This is the second time I’ve had this issue

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed there was fuel leaking onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a fuel pump flange leak. The fuel pump flange needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V818000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AS I WAS LEAVING OUT OF THE HOUSE GOING TO START THE CAR IT WOULD NOT START AND KEY HAD GOT STUCK IN IGNITION. I THEN TOWED TO HENDERSON AUDI WHERE THEY EXPLAINED THE STEERING COLUMN WAS THE REASON FOR THIS. THEY ALSO GAVE ME NOTICE THAT THEY HAVE GOTTEN THIS PROBLEM MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. STEERING COLUMNS GOING BAD IN AUDI Q7

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.
