Last night, driving home from the airport, I stopped for a charge at an Electrify America charging station in San Diego, CA. Charging station ID is 200143-03. At the start of the charge, the port caught on fire, shot flames about a foot from the car. Obviously, after the flames subsided, I unplugged it. The DC high voltage pins are melted. I drove home without charging, driving slowly to maximize range and make it home. Luckily, I was not injured by the fire. The vehicle did not report any warnings, errors, codes, or anything. It seems functional. I have not attempted to charge it at home. I reported the incident when it occurred to Electrify America. Their case number is [XXX]. This morning I reported the incident to Audi USA. Their reference number is [XXX]. I informed the Audi representative that I would be making this report. The exact cause is unclear. It could be a problem with the charging station or its plug. However, it is clear that its safety systems did not detect the short circuit and stop the high voltage current from flowing. Curiously, there is also not a "big red button" to push on the charging station to shut it down (to prevent anyone else from using the station) - I had to ask the rep to remotely disable the station until their team could look at it. Or, it could be a problem with the vehicle. It has successfully charged several times at Electrify America (Audi's preferred vendor, because they are a Volkswagen company), and it charges nightly at home without issue. But perhaps something on the vehicle side caused the system to short circuit. At this time, I am awaiting guidance from the local Audi dealer on how to get it inspected. In a parking lot after backing out from the spot and entering car in drive mode - there was spontaneous, sudden, uncontrollable acceleration and spinning of 360 degree on extreme speed bringing the car in the same spot and stopped only with colliding with other parked vehicle on passanger side , pushing it further and damaging another parked car. During the spin process it front of the car first collided rear end of the car parked on driverside, than curb ,than the back of the car parked on passanger side. This entire event happened in fraction of a second without knowledge of the driver , immediately after the car was put in D mode from R mode . Suspecting some sort of TECHNICAL/ MECHANICAL FAILURE that should be further investigated for general safety. The car was regularly serviced at Audi dealership and there was on going issue with SOS SYSTEM notification trigger, which was addressed to Audi dealership multiple times and they tried to resolve it . The latest same issue was handled almost around a month of the accident. This car is technologically extremely advanced car and has every safety features in built. None of the features came on rescue to notify / stop the car . Even airbag didn't blew up on multiple collisions during that undescribable spontaneous acceleration and spinning of a STANDING CAR! Both Audi USA and GEICO are informed about the accident and they have assured investigating the incident too.

When vehicle is in drive or reverse, it rolls forward and backwards when no throttle is applied (as if in neutral), vehicle hit a structure because it rolled back at a rapid pace due to an incline. Audi needs to implement a feature to prevent the vehicle from rolling when at a near stop and the vehicle is in drive or reverse.

ON JANUARY 13, 202, THIS 2019 AUDI E-TRON WAS THE 2ND CAR STOPPED AT A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON A PUBLIC ROAD. THE DRIVER'S FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. WHILE THE LIGHT REMAINED RED WITH THE DRIVER'S FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD INTO THE REAR OF THE FRONT CAR CONTINUING PUSHING FORWARD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AS THE DRIVER PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE, TRIED TO SHIFT THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE, FINALLY STOPPING THE CAR BY PUSHING THE POWER BUTTON. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY TOWED TO THE DEALER AFTER THE ACCIDENT, AND THE DEALER AND AUDI OF AMERICA WAS IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. AUDI FINALLY SENT AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE CAR ON FEB. 14, 2020. ACCORDING TO AUDI, THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE OPERATING PROPERLY AT THE TIME OF THEIR INSPECTION, AND THE CAR'S DATA RECORDER REVEALED NO INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACCIDENT. THEY CONCLUDE THAT THE ABSENCE OF EVIDENCE EXONERATES THE CAR AND AUDI. INASMUCH AS THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, THE ABSENCE OF ANY DATA ON THEIR RECORDER, IF TRUE, AND THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE PEDALS UPON LATER INSPECTION, ARE NOT EVIDENCE THAT THE ACCIDENT DID NOT HAPPEN AS DESCRIBED AND THE ABSENCE OF SOME ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION THAT IS LIKELY TO HAVE OCCURRED AS BEING THE CAUSE. THEREFORE, THIS VEHICLE IS INHERENTLY UNTRUSTWORTHY AND UNSAFE. *TR

Multiple times and at random times the vehicle reports "Central locking: malfunction! See owner's manual". When this happens, the driver's door is completely locked and driver cannot exit the vehicle. Door cannot be opened from outside either. So far this has only caused real delays, but this is a safety issue. I have reported the problem to Audi dealer but they advised that Audi has instructed them to apply software updates and not replace any parts. While the issue continues to re-appear, the dealer has dragged their feet to the point that vehicle is now out of the standard warranty. In researching the issue, this seems to be widely spread on Audi after 2019. Mine vehicle is a 2019 Audi e-tron quattro prestige.

My 2019 Audi e-tron will not charge. The charging indicator turns red after a few seconds and charging stops. The issue happens with both my home charger and Electrify America public chargers. The vehicle does not make the normal charging connection/clicking sound. This appears to be a charging system or high-voltage electrical issue. I am concerned about a potential safety defect because the vehicle cannot reliably charge and may leave the vehicle unusable. We have had a lot of heavy rain recently, and I am concerned that moisture or water intrusion may be related to the charging failure. The vehicle will not charge and the charging light turns red after a few seconds. The issue occurs with both my home charger and Electrify America chargers.

am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with the service department at Audi of Cherry Hill concerning my Audi e-tron. My vehicle remained at your dealership for approximately four weeks, during which time no repairs or meaningful progress were made. Instead, I was informed that I would need to approve approximately $13,000 in diagnostic fees before the vehicle would even be inspected or touched. I find this completely unreasonable and unacceptable, particularly given that my vehicle sat idle at your facility for an extended period without any justification. In addition, I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer service and conduct of an employee named Khern. He explicitly identified himself to me as a manager; however, after speaking with other staff members, I discovered he is not a member of management and works at the service intake desk. Furthermore, when I requested to speak with the actual service manager or another member of leadership to discuss my concerns, Khern actively refused to contact them or allow me to escalate the matter. As a customer, I expect honesty, transparency, and the ability to speak with management when a situation cannot be resolved at the front desk. Instead, I was misled, ignored, and left without assistance while my vehicle sat unrepaired for weeks. I request the following actions in response to this letter: A written explanation as to why my vehicle remained at the dealership for four weeks without any diagnostic progress or work being performed. A detailed, line-item justification for the approximately $13,000 diagnostic estimate presented to me before repairs would begin. An explanation regarding why frontline staff denied my explicit requests to speak with a dealership manager. A direct response from the actual Service Manager or General Manager addressing these concerns and outlining how this matter will be resolved.
Airbag detection system continues to malfunction. When driving at random times it states the detection system is currently unavailable as well as all the function buttons on the steering wheel.

“Electrical system malfunction- Please park vehicle safely”popping up on the dashboard. This is the second incident of such. Then “ a low battery charge “ warning while charging the car. Warning adds “ battery will charge while driving”. We called the dealer the first time and told to monitor but ok to drive. Then today while traveling almost 3 hours away from home, message pops up again. Dealer contacted and said ok to drive but bring the car asap in shop. Challenges - safety of travelers as issue limits ability to truly know state of charging battery , risk of crash as electrical system main part of EV car. Unsafe conditions putting lives at risk.

NHTSA #11732559
Component: Tires (Front Left) Continental Cross Contact LX 265/45 R21 Incident Description: Driving at highway speed, the front left tire suffered a catastrophic tread delamination. The flailing tread tore the fender and charging cover off of the vehicle. No impact or road hazard occured due to smart manuvering and proximity to the shoulder to pull over. However, this could have been deadly with a family with young children in the car and others on the road. This could have been a near fatal event. The car is currently being looked at by the autobody shop and insurance. There were no warnings or other symptoms prior that would have indicated any issue.
