On 27 July 2025, my 2024 Range Rover Sport, suffered a sudden and catastrophic engine fire while driving shortly after an overheating warning appeared. This occurred approximately two weeks after routine maintenance at a Land Rover dealership. My VIN is not listed in the current recall range, but the defect, symptoms, and safety hazard are identical to vehicles included. This strongly suggests either: 1. Incomplete VIN capture in the recall scope, or 2. A related but unaddressed defect with the same catastrophic consequences. The fire completely disabled the vehicle, placed my safety at extreme risk, and caused total loss. Given the life-threatening nature of this defect, I request NHTSA investigate to: * Expand Recall N908 to include my VIN and any similarly affected units, and * Require Land Rover to remedy and compensate impacted owners.

RELATED TO RECALL 26V248 ([XXX]) — VIN EXCLUDED DESPITE IDENTICAL DEFECT. INCIDENT 1 — [XXX] — [XXX] (~8,500 miles): Vehicle displayed "Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected" red warning and lost all motive power in active highway traffic. Unable to move vehicle. Called 911; emergency responders blocked lane. Infant and two senior citizens in vehicle; both seniors suffered minor heat stroke. Vehicle towed via Land Rover Roadside Assistance to Land Rover Seattle (Bellevue). Out of service 18 days. JLRNA Technical Assistance directed software-only repair (BCM, IPCB, BECM, RFA updates). Fault codes: P033-11 and B1651-92 (DC/DC converter internal operating mode failure). No physical converter replaced. INCIDENT 2 — [XXX] — [XXX] (~9,966 miles): Same failure recurred. Vehicle lost motive power in active traffic. Called 911 again. Towed via Land Rover Roadside Assistance to Howard Orloff Imports (authorized retailer), Chicago. JLRNA Tech Line confirmed via data logger: "DC TO DC CONVERTER FAILED INTERNALLY." Converter physically replaced (Part No. 433123464). Dealership RO notes: "customer states this has happened before in Seattle." 2026: "Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected" warning reappeared. Dealer unable to investigate as error was not active at time of visit. JLRNA has issued a final decision excluding this VIN from Recall D126 on the basis that the converter was previously replaced. However: (1) the first repair was a JLRNA T/A-directed software fix that failed; (2) JLRNA has not confirmed whether Part No. 433123464 is the revised spec referenced in the recall remedy; (3) the 2026 warning reappearance suggests the defect may not be resolved. Both repair orders are attached. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

It’s been close to 60 days since I was notified of a major safety issue recall that they do not have a repair for. I am terrified to drive my car on certain roads and therefore trapped so to speak in my town. How much time do they have to figure out the fix? They are not offering loaner cars or rentals, which is unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure on several occasions and had to be jump started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.

I am filing this complaint to formally report two separate incidents of DCDC converter failure in my Land Rover Range Rover Sport — the identical defect described in NHTSA Safety Recall 26V248 — and to request that NHTSA investigate why my vehicle has been excluded from that recall despite exhibiting the same failure mode. INCIDENT 1 – [XXX] While driving, my vehicle displayed a red “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning message and subsequently lost motive power, coasting to a stop in Bellevue, WA. I was unable to safely move the vehicle out of active traffic. I called 911 and emergency responders were dispatched to block the lane behind my vehicle to prevent a collision. The vehicle was towed to Jaguar Land Rover Bellevue, an authorized Land Rover dealership, where the DCDC converter was diagnosed as the cause of failure. Repair documentation is on file. INCIDENT 2 – [XXX] The same failure recurred. My vehicle again displayed the “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning and lost motive power while in motion in Chicago, IL. The vehicle was towed a second time to Jaguar Land Rover Chicago, where the same DCDC converter defect was documented and addressed. Repair documentation is on file. In both incidents, my vehicle came to a stop in an active traffic lane with no ability to self-recover, creating a direct risk of a rear-end collision that could have seriously injured or killed me, my family, and other road users. When I check my VIN against the recall, my vehicle does not appear as an included unit. I have received no owner notification letter from JLR despite the recall report stating owner notifications were planned for on or before June 12, 2026. I am requesting that NHTSA determine whether my vehicle meets that criteria and was incorrectly excluded, or whether the recall population should be expanded. I have attached Dealership repair orders and diagnostic reports from both incidents confirming DCDC issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I bought this car in 2024 and after 3,000 miles it was unrepairable. The first incident, I was driving and the car started flashing and beeping, telling me to pull over and exit the vehicle immediately. I brought it to the dealership and after a few days they returned it and said it was a software update. The next day, while driving to work, the vehicle again started flashing lights and beeping and told me to Pull Over and Exit the Vehicle immediately. The vehicle continued to flash and beep until I could pull over and stop, which unfortunately I was on the freeway, in between barriers and had to drive 17 more miles with it in panic mode. Almost 4 months later, I got the vehicle back and again, after driving a short time, I experienced a TOTAL electrical failure. The brakes, power steering, hill descent, etc ALL stopped working! After being in the shop a little over a month, again, I was told it was a software update and sent on my way. That night, while driving home, the Auto Brake Hold ENGAGED while I was driving and my vehicle jerked back and forth continually. Again it went to the dealership, and again I was told it was due to a software update and that is now how Land Rover had programmed it and I just was not used to it. When I tried to explain how I could not drive because of the continuous jerking, I was told there was nothing they can do.

The proprietary wiper blades on my 2024 Range Rover Sport have been replaced 4 times in 6 months due to my inability to see clearly out my windshield during rain. The vehicle has been in two different Land Rover dealerships over the past four months in an attempt to resolve the inability to see clearly out the windshield during rain. The wiper arms have also been replaced but the issue remains unresolved. The New Rochelle, New York Land Rover Dealer has spent hours trying to resolve the issue with no improvement. I filed a complaint with Land Rover North America Customer Service (see attached email) and they said there was nothing they could do. This issue has been ongoing since the car has been purchased and nothing has been resolved to date. No other wiper blades are available for replacement because the wiper blades are only made by Land Rover and therefore are not available anywhere else. No other replacement wiper blades can be installed on my or any other vehicle manufactured by Range Rover.

Vehichle completely shut off while driving in middle of road. All power was cut to vehicle, luckily I had foot on the break at the time at a stop light. Was dead in the intersection, required a tow to dealership. The dealer confirmed it was a DC/DC electrical failure that had my mild hybrid engine not working. Basically communication with the gas engine stopped and vehicle died after draining the battery.

The vehicle has multiple safety and operational defects that remain unresolved after four service visits on April 10, May 28, June 19, and August 2, 2024, totaling more than 30 days out of service. Lane Keep Assist malfunctions unpredictably at highway speeds—at times making abrupt steering inputs without warning or failing to intervene during lane departure—creating a safety hazard. The vehicle has excessive wind noise, suggesting door or glass seal issues. The infotainment system intermittently crashes, freezing or disabling functions including the backup camera and Bluetooth phone audio. Dealer diagnostic scans showed 15 ECU modules not communicating and multiple diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) across systems, indicating systemic electronic faults. Despite software updates and repair attempts, the problems persist and continue to impair the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and normal operation.

9/23/2025 After multiple trips to the dealership, the issues with my vehicle continue to persist. Here is the breakdown of my current issues with my vehicle: 1. Brakepad warning light (was informed that it is not covered under warranty even though I only have less than 13K miles) 2. After two attempts to fix the window seal issue, the issue still persists 3. The navigation screen on my driver console doesn’t display when in CarPlay mode 4. The backseat center console doesn’t close properly, so the dealership ordered the part almost two months ago, and it still has not arrived. 10/7/2025 (update) I wanted to inform you that I was quoted $3,347.01 for rear brake pads and rotors for my vehicle, which has less than 13,500 miles. I’m quite shocked because I was told that this isn’t covered under warranty and that I’m responsible for the cost. I’ve owned or leased at least five Range Rover sports in the past, and I’ve never experienced such rapid wear and tear. Additionally, the dealership acknowledged the window sealing issue for the third time and informed me that it’s now resolved after making some “adjustments.” However, I’m still puzzled because they didn’t order any replacement parts, and this is the third time I’ve taken my car in for the same issue.

THIS VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED WITH A FLAWED WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN WHEN THERE IS SALT ON THE ROAD BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER SNOW AND ICY WET CONDITIONS. THE FLUID LEAVES THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER AT THE END OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE PASSENGER WIPER LEAVES THE FLUID IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. ON THE RETURN STROKE OF THE WIPER IT PUSHES DOWN THE FLUID LEAVING THE WINDSHIELD STREAKED, WITH NO VISIBILITY TO DRIVE. I ASKED THE DEALERS TO FIX IT AND THEY ARE TELLING ME ITS A DESIGN ISSUE. THE ONLY TIME I CAN USE THE WIPERS, IS WHEN IT RAINS. VISIBILITY IS NO GOOD, IF THE WINDSHIELD IS DIRTY AND YOU TRY TO CLEAN IT USING THE FLUID AND WIPING SYSTEM.

THE DRIVERS DOOR MOVES WITHIN THE OPENING OVER BUMPS AND UNEVEN SURFACES. THE WIND NOISE IS PREVELANT ON WINDY DAYS AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. ON 4 OCCASIONS, I HAVE BROUGHT IT FOR SERVICE TO CORRECT THE ISSUES, WITH NO SUCCESS. THIS IS A BRAND-NEW CAR AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DOOR WILL RELEASE WHILE I AM DRIVING AND HURT SOMEONE OR POSSIBLY EVEN ME.

Here's an improved version: --- While driving on M59, the main screen turned off unexpectedly. I exited the main road and pulled into a strip mall outside a Costco. The vehicle then completely stopped and shut down. The hazard lights were not functioning, and I couldn't restart the vehicle. After waiting for 5 minutes outside the car, I got back in and called the local dealer, Land Rover of Troy, Michigan. While on the phone, the car suddenly turned back on as they were answering. This incident happened yesterday, and I want to ensure there's a record of it because it was extremely dangerous. ---
