THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR-END AND FRONT END COLLISION, THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME REAR-ENDED THE JEEP COMPASS AT APPROX 50 MPH PUSHING ME INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE JEEP COMPASS. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE VEHICLE'S SEAT BELTS FAILED TO LOCK CAUSING MYSELF TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL.
I was hit from behind on the interstate 2 weeks ago. My Jeep Compass was stopped in heavy traffic on the interstate. A large white pickup truck hit my car first going at least 80 mph. He did not see that traffic was stopped. This caused my jeep to roll and come to a stop on the passenger side on the ground and the driver side in the air. My airbags did deploy, but not on impact. They deployed after the jeep came to a stop on it's side. After impact and after rolling. The airbags were not useful after the jeep stopped moving. This needs to be addressed. I was hurt and did go to the ER. I did not have any passengers, thankfully, they may not have survived that. My seatbelt held me in well, it was hard to get out of it and I have many bruises from the seatbelt. My only issue was the timing of the airbags. They were very late to deploy. Thought you should know. If this happens to others in an accident, many people will be hurt. The vehicle was only inspected by the insurance company to determine the repair costs and then declared a total loss. I am not sure if anyone else inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lights prior to the accident. I tried to upload photos, but it would not work. I do have photos and a police report from this accident.
Drivers side impact at approximately 40mph and side, floor and overhead airbags failed to deploy causing serious injury. Vehicle was parked at a stop sign when full impact occurred. There was 2 children in the rear seats and only a driver in the vehicle. There was none in the front passenger seat and only the airbag in the steering column deployed and the passenger seat airbag deployed. Airbags did not protect the children nor the driver in this impact.

On 8/16/2022 I was involved in an accident due to front driver side suspension breaking.
I was recently involved in an accident driv'g 2018 Jeep Compass: no significant injury (so far) to a jogger, who was invisible due to a blind spot @driver-side A-pillar/mirror. I touched him w my car (5mph per police rept). It has taken me a month to understand why the accident occurred. I didn't see the jogger— he was NEVER w/in my scope of view. I was ticketed for failing to stop; I did stop but proceeded too soon...not writing to argue fault--- I accept that humans in crosswalks have right-of-way. A few years ago, I had a close call at an intersection w a truck coming (upgrade) from the right— it was early morning & I thot the near-miss was an artifact of pre-dawn light. Now I believe that as we converged at the intersection, the truck remained obscured until I had entered the intersection to make my left turn. Recently a friend who works at a gas station named the car part (A-pillar) & identified it as a “blind spot.” ...brand new concepts (to me) regarding this car part. I've never heard of them before— not fm the sales rep during test drive, nor fm techs during dealership service, nor fm other drivers. Ask your sister if she knows where the A-pillar is. "A-pillar blind spot" is not in the User Manual. The Compass has electronic blind-spot-monitoring (BSM) for vehicles that linger on either side of the car. There is extensive guidance about side-BSM in the owner’s manual, in add'n to boxed warnings @ using the back-up camera. "A-pillar blind spot" is not mentioned or warned about. However, in looking at Compass-Owner discussion group comments, I find this is an issue for other Compass owners, at least since 2011. All talk discussion is about near-miss with pedestrians, plus other vehicles as I described above.
The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude. The contacts daughter stated while driving approximately 20 mph when the vehicle pulled to the right without warning, which resulted in hitting a parked vehicle. The air bags were deployed minus the rear driver-side air bag. The contacts daughter sustained some bruising on her legs, chest, and hands but did not seek medical treatment and a police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was awaiting diagnosis. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH in the snow, the vehicle slid on black ice and hit a curb at a low rate of speed. The contact stated that the front driver, front driver knee, and front passenger airbags deployed upon impact. The police arrived at the scene and the contact was given a ticket for speeding due to the airbags deploying; the contact maintained that she was driving at a low rate of speed. The contact was uncertain if a police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to her home. After the accident, the contact sought medical attention for injuries to her chest and neck. The manufacturer nor the dealer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
AT ABOUT 25 MPH THE BREAKS DIDN'T WORK WHEN APPLIED AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, SOME TIMES THE CAR SPEEDS UP EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL IS NOT APPLIED, SOMETIMES WHEN I SHIFT TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE D OR R INDICATOR FLASHING THEN I HAVE TO PARK AND TRY AGAIN.

A WHITE SUBSTANCE ENTERED THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH, UPPER AND LOWER BACK PAINS, AND SHOULDER AND NECK PAINS. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V523000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION. CAR NEEDED A NEW ENGINE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO FOR BURNING OIL. DURING THIS TIME I STALLED ON A BUSY ROAD AND SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME. LAST WEEK I WAS IN FLORIDA AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START, IT THEN STARTED SMOKING UNDERNEATH AND A SMALL FIRE WAS STARTED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND IS CURRENTLY STILL THERE WITH AN CHRYSLER ENGINEER COMING TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE TEXT MESSAGE EXCHANGE WITH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA TO DESCRIBE THE ISSUE. THE WHAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OCCURRED ON 2/6/21. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE.

An impact on the brake pedals can cause the pedal arm and the brake pedal lever to disengage. Moreover, the unlocking lever has a low stiffness due to variations in clamping force and friction. Both these reasons can lead the brake pedals to collapse during braking, preventing the driver from activating the service brakes. This could impair the braking performance, increasing the risk of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
The electrical cable connection to the vehicle's Integrated Dual Charge Module (IDCM) may not be tightened to the correct torque. This can result in the 12-volt battery not being charged, which can cause the vehicle to shut down unexpectedly, thereby increasing the risk of an accident and injuries. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
