Environmental Contributing Circumstances (Select Up to 3):
My driver passenger door does not close anymore as of 7/9/2023. My 2-year-old son could have flown out the door as he sits on that side in his car seat.

TAKATA RECALL. PURCHASED SEPT 2013. REAR ENDED TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER TIME. BLEAKLEY FORD REPAIRED BOTH TIMES. 2015 GOT RECALL NOTICE FOR 'AIRBAGS'. ASKED SERVICE PERSON WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS. SHE SAID 'THEY HAD TO BE TURNED ON". THIS MEANS, THEY WERE TURNED OFF WHEN THE CAR LEFT THE FACTORY, AND WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED BOTH TIMES. THIS INDICATED THAT FORD KNEW THE AIRBAGS WERE DANGEROUS, AND WAS TURNING THEM OFF IN THE FACTORY. I FOUND MY VEHICLE ON ONE TAKATA LIST, SO I KNOW IT HAS THEM. I HAVE REQUESTED SEVERAL TIME TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED, BUT THEY JUST BRUSH ME OFF. I'M VERY NERVOUS NOT KNOWING IF THEY ARE GOING TO EXPLODE WHILE I'M DRIVING. I LIVE IN THE SOUTH WHERE IT IS HOT AND HUMID. I UNDERSTAND THESE ARE EXACTLY THE CONDITIONS THAT CAUSE THE PRESSURIZED GAS CONTAINER TO EXPLODE, SENDING SHRAPNEL INTO THE PASSENGERS AND DRIVER. I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR PREMEDITATED ENDANGERMENT OF MILLIONS OF CUSTOMERS. 1ST MVA: BRAKING WHEN REAR ENDED. 2ND MVA: SITTING STILL @ RED LIGHT WHEN STRUCK FROM BEHIND. BOTH SPEEDS CALCULATED @ 45 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE MERGED RAPIDLY AHEAD CAUSING A CRASH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A LOWER BACK INJURY AND THE PASSENGER LOCATED ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT IN A BOOSTER SEAT SUSTAINED A RIGHT KNEE INJURY. THERE WAS NO INJURY TO THE PERSON IN THE OTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BUT NO ONE WAS TRANSPORTED FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT WAS PENDING BODY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 12/23/16*LJ UPDATED 01/05/17.*JB
MY CAR WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND SOME ONE HIT IT FROM BACK COMING AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 35-40 MILES/HOUR. DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGERS HIT THEIR FACES AND KNEES ON DASHBOARD. BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE) DID NOT RESTRAIN AND STOP PASSENGERS MOVING FORWARD. WE HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM ON BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE) ON THIS CAR (2014 FORD ESCAPE SE) SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THIS CAR THAT BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE) ARE VERY LOSE AND DOES NOT RESTRAIN WHEN PULLED SUDDENLY. THIS CAUSED THE BRUISING OF FACES AND KNEES OF PASSENGERS IN THIS ACCIDENT. IF SEAT BELTS WERE WORKING PROPERLY AND RESTRAINING PROPERLY THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE OR LIFE THREATENING IF A SIMILAR ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY. I NOW HAVE TOLD A FORD DEALER TO CHECK IT. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS PROBLEM IS ONLY ON MY CAR OR OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE MODEL OF CARS. THIS NEEDS TO BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF MANUFACTURER(FORD) TO RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM IF IT IS TRUE FOR ALL OF THIS MODEL OF CARS. *TR
Whenever I got the vehicle at the middle of 2025 I had issues with the shocks hub assembly axle motor mount electrical issues trunk was opening and closing by itself. Recent recently I drive it to Savannah and the vehicle started to skip and would not switch gears while I was driving down a 70 mph Road. I almost wrecked due to an issue with the vehicle I have looked up the recalls that hasn't been repaired on the vehicle and I believe it has something to do with unrepair recalls or maybe there is a recall that wasn't found or reported because I've seen a lot of recall information about the transmission. I also had a incident with the door unlocking and locking while my nephew was in the vehicle after stepping out the doors automatically locked but I still had the driver door open. My nephew freaked out cuz he can't get out the vehicle. The vehicle has some other issues that I do not know how to explain and if there is any possible way that the unrepared recalls has something to do with the repairs that the vehicle need now then I would like something done immediately. There is 19 recalls on a 2014 Ford escape. Now out of those 19 only two have been reported for my VIN number but I believe due to the car being sold five different times within a short period of time no one had the time to actually report the issues wrong with the vehicle I think people were just trying to get rid of it because they knew something was wrong with it.
To: HTSA: We believe that our 2014 Ford Escape motor vehicle has a mechanical defect that caused it to catch fire while driving on the highway with our family inside. We are alive because another driver reported the fire in the car and we stopped and got out at the exact time before the car burned to the ground. We have a 22S43 Safety Campaign Notice for that vehicle. We are notifying you of what happened because we understand that the reason the vehicle caught fire was due to a mechanical malfunction that caused that horrible and shocking event, putting life safety at risk. So far we have not had support from anyone. We have lost our property and risked our lives by being the user of a defective Ford vehicle that placed our lives at imminent risk of death. The incident occurred on 04/02/2023 on street 2 km 203.1 Guayanilla Puerto Rico. I request your prompt attention in this matter so that you can investigate what is related to safety and the damage that caused this fire to burn the vehicle.
DRIVING DOWN ROAD. CAR SAID ENGINE FAILURE PULLED OVER POPED THE HOOD AND ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND CAR BURNED TOTAL LOSS
Driving along at 60 mph suddenly my car stops going in heavy traffic and won't move,, then it accelerated to high RPMS and was stuck, then it hard shifted into gear and it lundged forward fast and went about 5 feet then it wouldn't move. Almost got killed on a busy hwy. because of it accelerating on its on out into traffic while it was in park, then just came to a dead stop. The only way I can describe is it was not moving in park, then it was like it shifted by itself and lundged forward and stoped like it was slammed into park from a high speed but it did it this on it's own while the shifter was in park. It took off again and I drove it to the side of the hwy, and turned it off. Called and got a friend who has a trailer to come tow me. I Cranked my car to see if it would move to get it on the trailer. I Slowly drove it up on the ramps and got about half way up, then it stopped wouldn't move again, still in drive it rolled back down the ramps on its own, I was just sitting there and it was idling was like the rpms were higher than normal so I shut it off for a minute. Got back in it cranked it up put it in drive and it wouldn't move, put in in reverse it backed up but it was revved up and shifted hard, so I put it back in park and it spit and spuddered so I shifted to neutral an then car just shifted into drive and took off on it's on and drove up missing the ramps and ran into the back of his trailer, crushing my front end. Then it wouldn't move again. Winched it on the trailer, got home and it drove to get it off the trailer, but I'm terrified to drive it.
